I just saw this Jeff, as I'm having a problem logging on to the website at my house. Jeff, I'm at a loss for words other than to somewhat echo Smitty's comments in that being able to have the time to catch up, relive the glory days, and say goodbye is a true Blessing for you both before he's called Home. Praying for y'all, Jeff

KITTY HAWK Mirage 2000 Family (1/32)
Clunkmeister replied to Ivan Ivanovich's topic in Modelling Discussion
Just pull out your modeling common sense, and research the exact aircraft you want to build before starting the build. Sometimes the add-on details such as electronics, ejection seats, weapons stations, sensor locations, etc, are generic on KH. Mix and match the parts to get your exact ship. you'll be rewarded with an amazing piece when finished. A word to the wise, KH, for some reason, believeth not in intake trunking to what are often beautifully executed and detailed jet engines....- 82 replies

Tamiya Spitfire
Clunkmeister replied to TJTX's topic in LSM 1/32 and Larger Aircraft Ready for Inspection
Tony, what are you using for a clear under the AK enamel? I use acrylic Vallejo wash so it wipes with windex. Curious... -
The sad fact, Hubert, is that I agree with you completely. Caudron, Voisin, SPAD, Farman, Nieuport, I’m waiting so patiently..... Willy and Tommy have had enough aircraft featured....

Kudos to Special Hobby for the Sunderland cover :)
Clunkmeister replied to Martinnfb's topic in Special Hobby
I've never quite figured out the timidness of kit manufacturers regarding this one. This is one of the world's great aircraft of all time, and would be amazing even in 1/48. -
Hubert the everr present jokester. I'm just riffed that I didn't think of it first.

Well, a bit more information searching finds that all postwar RCAF Lancs used block tread tires, not the wartime smoothies as the kit contains. And there’s a scoop on the starboard side of the fuselage for cooling air. I expect for the electronics amidships... no real issue there, I’ll carve one of those, but the wheels might be an issue.. Rear observer windows are not flat as I thought, but domed out. Hmmm

It never ceases to amaze me how far these big Mercs were ahead of their time. So many of the design of these engines were considered "cutting edge" technology in the 1950s. Each time I build one of these models, I shake my head in amazement. Stunning work as usual, Mike' It gives me an idea as well. I have the Shapeways Fokker D.ll wing warper skeleton, and didn't Classic Airframes or Rodent just come out with a D.ll wing warper as well? Hmmmm...
