  1. Nicely done, and first blood. Very, very nice build. I’d have NO idea if it was right at all, but it certainly looks like a BTR to me
  2. Thanks Rob. I had used Aviattic and Pheon decals on my Felixstowe build, and it was a revealing. I had to cut and piece every part on the airframe, those wings are HUGE. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
  3. We’ve fettled with a bit. Barring no issues, this’ll be a sweet little bird. I have been already clucking up a storm on this, so of course, a lot of tedious crap’s been completed..
  4. So I’m at a bit of a standstill on my Mug-29, waiting for the DN Models digital masks to arrive from Bulgaria, so we’ll do something a bit offbeat from all the jets being built. I’ve built a lot of Wingnut kits, including the Gotha G.lV and Felixstowe flying boat, but I’ve yet to build a D.Vll. So we’ll put some time into this for a bit. The RCAF and US Army Air Corps flew Fokker D.Vlls into the 1920s, so it’s not surprising that other militaries used them as well. This will use the limited edition Aviattic decal set on a Wingnut D.VllF. Extras will include Gaspatch guns, and a Proper Plane wooden propeller from Alexey Belov in Kyiv. I’ll also use a REXX exhaust pipe if I have a correct one here. Internal and control rigging will be EZ Line, while structural rigging as needed aill be my standard Maxima .012 mm mono line
  5. Beautiful work, Mike! Stunning! Good news from Europe, Alexey is still in the game, hunkered down and staying safe. As are most of our other Ukrainian suppliers. Roden lost their illustrator, but that man was the only casualty I’ve hard about in our little circle. So far at least. Alexey states he’s no warrior, so he’s lending his support in other ways.
  6. No problem. The speed brakes sit 1/32” too far back when closed and leave a 1/32” gap between them and the fuselage when installed closed. Look closely at the attachment points and you’ll see about 1/32” of plastic on the hinge attachment part that is past a very slight mold line. Just snip that off on all 4 hinges and then sand off all the internal detail on the brake boards. Then they’ll install perfectly. Martin’s the one who cautioned me on the fit. He used Evergreen to fill the gap, I went the other way. Tomato. Tomato…..
  7. Everything Ukraine Ready for Inspection Sub Forum open for posting finished builds.
  8. Awesome news, Hubert. Glad you had a good vacation. I’m waiting for some digital pattern masks to arrive from Bulgaria, and then my 29 will be in some paint. These Group Builds are nice at times. Without this, I would never have contemplated a 1/48 kit, and a MiG-29:in Ukrainian colors even, so these get us thinking outside our normal thinking processes. We will most likely extend the Group Build to a full 6 months, being that we have some decent participation.
  9. Haha, not even close. But I bought a set of digital masks for this model from DN Models in Bulgaria. I’m going to build right up to that point and then stop to wait for them to arrive. Im having a lot of fun building this, and it’s heartening to see the plethora of builds on this Group Build.
  10. Welcome to LSM, Mirage!
  11. Armadillos courtesy of us Texians. We obviously missed a few on the Interatates and Farm to Market roads. Not doing our jobs I guess. I’d still take Armadillos over hogs, though. I probably personally drop an easy 50 a year and others do many more, yet they keep reproducing. Evil creatures them.
  12. Exactly. Nessie sure is an elusive beast! I’ve heard rumours of Vorpel Bunnies In the caves along the shore as well.
  13. Thanks y’all. I should put up the pics after I revisited it and added some variation to the Polish khaki. I honestly can’t recall ever having such a great time building a kit as I had with this one. Simply put, an awesome model of a very overlooked aircraft. An amazing result for IBG’s first 1/32 kit. Here’s hoping we get more Polish WW2 models from them in the future
  14. The rest is rolling right along. A pretty simple build, almost oOB and so far, I’m thrilled. Not as much detail as man scale, but it’s still a stellar kit.
  15. Martin did warn me about the fit issues with the speed brake boards and the Mother of All Gaps being present between the boards and the fuselage, so, I had a little look. Both upper and lower boards are used open or closed, and like many models, they are best used open. Ifclosed, the gap appears. A close look finds a 1/32 extra filler piece molded in the front of all 4 hinges, so it’ll provide a stronger anchor when open. Trim the front 1/32 off, recontour the hinges, and Bob’s your Uncle. They fit. BUT… now you need to thin the internals to clear the Donkey Dong, otherwise they’ll sit proud. I could have spent more time fitting them, but I just blew through it and just did a press fit. This is the result and where I’m gonna leave it.
  16. You’re a lucky man. We have no natural lakes in Texas. Our lakes are all manmade. But we got plenty of oil and plenty of cattle. Copperheads, Cottonmouth, Killer Bees, Rire Ants, foot wide tarantulas, foot long centipedes, cougars, coyotes, chupacabra, and even a Vorpel Bunny or two.
