  1. Just build something Hubert. Anything. I’m waiting on a GWH MiG-29 Fulcrum C and a GWH SU-27UB Flanker. I have Ukrainian decals for both. Plus I ordered Ukrainian colors from Linden Hill. He carries AKAN, which I think may be a Russian brand, but if there are genuine correct Ukrainian shades, I’ll do it. Also some 3D instrument panels for them, plus a resin set for the Fulcrum consisting of nozzles and wheels along with a metal pitot already. I’m not used to building in 48, but a Flanker is ridiculously huge in 1/32, although the Fulcrum isn’t much bigger than an F-16
  2. Very nice start! I’m still finishing up the second planking on my 1/64 HMS Speedy by Vanguard Models. I kinda got all screwed up after the first few planks and had to peel a few off I didn’t narrow the ends as much as I should have to flow with the curve of the chine rails so off they came. An expensive smack in the face with boxwood planking. I’m looking forward to see this come together, Rob. I also have both of Chris’s fishing boats, as well as a couple more warships by him. The decorative scrollwork on this terrifies me, actually, so I’m looking forward to see how you handle it.
  3. We have changed the rules to also allow all kits produced by Ukrainian kitmakers. Regardless of scheme.
  4. Try to keep it Ukrainian subjects, unless it’s a Ukrainian kit. 😀. I really don’t want to be glorifying the criminals here.
  5. Well Hubert, grab something and stick it together. It doesn’t need to be beautiful, and there are numerous Civilian aircraft built by Antonov which would qualify.
  6. Fran, a separate GB from this one so we have two running, or combined? If combined, call it “All things Ukrainian” or similar
  7. Fran, I REALLY LIKE that idea! Should we maybe open it up to include all things Ukrainian? Either Ukrainian schemes or Ukrainian produced kits? I’m open to either, I just felt the need to get this going ASAP. Either one of us can change it. I had also put a notice on the Facebook page an punching the GB already. That can be modified as well.
  8. Let’s keep politics out of this please.
  9. Group build starts Wed March 2, 2022 at 6pm CST and ends July 1, 2022 at midnight. If member participation warrants it, we will look at extending the GB by 60 days to a full 6 month. GB is open to any kit produced by a Ukrainian model manufacturer, regardless of color scheme. Showcase Ukrainian model manufacturers, there are plenty to choose from. GB is also open to all Ukrainian badged aircraft or armor in use by the Ukrainian Military after the Wall came down. 1/48 or larger, although we will consider making a case by case exception to LARGE airframes in 1/72, such as the various Antonov products. Antonov civilian aircraft upon approval as well 25% started is OK, but if you’re unsure, ask me. I’m pretty lenient, but if all it needs is decals, I may say no. Start your own build thread here and update it regularly. Keep it civil, we’re all adults. ABSOLUTELY NO POLITICS please. We all know feelings run deep. No spamming, or any other obvious stupid stuff. All other normal GB rules apply. Finished builds will be posted in a special RFI, and an award of a suitable new kit will be awarded to a randomly drawn name of all members who finished a model in the GB. But most of all, HAVE FUN.
  10. I truly despise the Russians who targeted Antonov. But WHY didn’t Antonov think to move their equipment OUT to Poland? It would have been simple and safe.
  11. I know the Communist Party of China’s was trying to obtain all the tooling to build them in China. There is one unfinished Mriya at Antonov but China has said they want it and at one point stated that nobody else could touch it. I’m not sure how they they think they have that power, but they have most all of the worlds money, so I guess they are the boss. And now assuming Russia will control Ukraine and of course Antonov, the west may never have use of them again
  12. WOW! That’s what I call a great build of an unusual subject. Very, very nicely done, and the base and backdrop really set the scene. They have a nice little hidey hole to hang out in with a commanding view all around. So straight from armor to the most Canadian of all the North Atlantic Fleet: a Flower Class Corvette. Not even a Tribal. I’m impressed. This ought to be interesting, and I’m looking forward to see it develop. I knew an old guy when I was young who was RCN and served on Corvettes and Tribals. He truly detested the Corvettes and swore that they’d roll 60 degrees, and in the right conditions with a quartering sea, they’d pitch and roll worse than an unbroken horse trying to toss you off. But they were 100% seaworthy and served reliably. Iron men served on those tin cans.
  13. Russia WILL pay for all this needless death and destruction
  14. I pray this is true, or even partially true. SOMEBODY or maybe different people, are running around in a MiG-29 harassing the Russians. I expect the truth is somewhere in the middle, but Ukraine needs a hero right now.
  15. And now this. AN225 chief pilot tweets that Mriya is whole. So with everything so up in the air, no pun intended, no matter where you stand on this conflict, please pray or send good thoughts to our friends and the people out that way. Alexey Belov from Propper Plane, ResKit, Roden, Modelsvit, AMUR Reaver, we all have relationships with good people out there, plus all our friends and family out that way.
  16. Multiple unconfirmed reports state that the world’s only AN225 has been destroyed by bombing in its hangar at Antonov Airport outside Kyiv. If true, this is a MASSIVE blow to the world’s heavy airlift industry.
  17. We’re literally getting overrun. So I have a really beat up old Russian SKS that works great for that stuff. Nothing fancy, just put some decent night optics on it so I can stay out when they’re running. Can’t really use higher power stuff out there because civilization’s coming ever closer. A buddy even uses a Winchester Model 1894 in 44 Magnum. It’s works remarkably well. Then we either leave them where they fall or drag them close to a fence line. Buzzards and coyotes are very efficient clean up artists. A week later, there’s nothing but bones. I’d show you the after pictures, but some might find them unnerving. Let’s just say we mount the leftovers on a fence post. It keeps land speculators away
  18. The instruction booklet on a CSM Caudron G.lll
  19. Ha! The roof is electrically operated through a system of levers, screw jacks, counterbalance springs, relays, and limit switches. All automatic with a simple push of a button.
