  1. I love the limited edition CyberHobby releases. Some of them are on par with Dragon's premium releases in terms of what you get in the box.
  2. That's the best attitude to have about kits like these. I feel that way about the NF 12 vacuform. Since I'm going to the National Convention in August, I'm gonna be working on a kit or two to take with me in June and July, so I won't get to the Meteor until next year at the earliest, but my nervousness about making it doesn't outweigh my urge to try it out, haha.
  3. So far, I haven't obtained a full-resin kit, but I'm dying to build one some day. I have a few articles in particular that outline important steps and so on, which have sparked my interest.
  4. Excellent pics! I've seen a lot of planes, but I've never seen an Emil in the flesh. These will be great when working on my Eduard and Dragon 109s!
  5. Oh man! I wanted that W.29 for a while, and waited just a little too long, haha. I hope WNW does another seaplane someday, there are so many cool ones from that era!
  6. Great pics! I've got some pics of an earlier model Corsair with part of the engine exposed at an airshow last summer. I'm planning on posting several walkarounds on here sometime when I get on my parent's computer (where I store my photos), so I'll try and get those up sometime.
  7. I posted this same thread on SPAR, but I'm curious to see what large-scale stuff people have, so I cloned it over here. Lately I've been enjoying looking through the kits in my stash. I pick up a kit, take it out sprue by sprue, and think about possible build ideas. While I am nowhere near the point where I have so many kits that I forget about some of them, it's a lot of fun because some of the kits in my stash have a lot of potential that I haven't considered, yet. Others are models that I got a while ago and interest me more than when I first found them. Almost all of the kits in my stash are pretty available on the current market. One kit that I found on a sketchy UK website a few years ago is Aeroclub's 1/48 Meteor NF.12. I've seen Aeroclub's NF series kits go for over $100 on eBay recently, and I am happy to say I paid a small fraction of that. It's kind of cool having at least one somewhat rare kit in the stash. I know there are other kits, like original boxing Monograms, that are rare enough to be museum pieces (they have several in the Smithsonian, actually!) but it's cool to have a kit of some worth that is still of a low enough value to be worth building. Now, to my point. What's the rarest kit in your stash? Rarest doesn't have to mean oldest, because some 70s Monogram kits are a lot easier to find and pay for than some recent limited-run kits. Post pics and descriptions, if possible. Of course, if it's rare enough that someone reading this thread might want to break into your house to get their hands on it, you have an excuse for not posting! Anyways, a little more about the NF 12 kit. Overall, it seems like a pretty good Vacuform kit. The detail is there, more or less. The little bit of resin and injection-molded plastic parts seem to have high quality, too. However, the metal parts are pretty crude, so when I eventually build the kit, I may end of scratchbuilding a lot of the cockpit. I also may find other meteor kits that have parts that can replace some of the metal parts. The decals are good quality, given their age (which, as a matter a fact, I'm not actually sure of). There seems to be some cracking on a few of them, so I'll give my best efforts to reseal them (or whatever you call it) before I start using them. Amazingly, they really haven't yellowed all that much. Overall, the kit will be the biggest challenge I've faced yet, but I'm gonna hold off on it until I feel that the time is right, so I hope to give it my best effort. I'm interested to see what others have in their stashes. Maybe we could have a "Rare Kits GB" some day, or something like that. Maybe kits that have been completely out-of-production for more than 10 years.
  8. Just picked up some interesting-looking reference books for 4$ a pop on Squadron, they're having a clearance sale. I'll get some pics up when they arrive.
  9. I'd have to agree with the above statements. I understand that there is a non-modelling area, but I've always seen that as a place to make a personal announcement or share an occasional picture. I'm not trying to tell other people what I think they should do, but seriously, those never-ending threads really distract from the purpose of the forum. After all, there are literally thousands upon thousands of forums, and between them you can post anything, from quilting to skydiving. I think that a forum like this, with such a specific purpose, should be for that purpose and little else.
  10. Wow, great build! The colors look great and clean. Some would argue that everything in every diorama needs to be covered in a dozen dirty washes, but frankly, I appreciate scenes like this. Overall, I feel that this effect, where colors are faded more than "dirtied up," looks much more convincing when compared to the real thing. Also, and this will sound REALLY petty, I think the tie-down on the back of the Sherman looks excellent! It's so hard to get realistic tension on those, and you nailed it. I hope you like it here. There's a little tension lately because of the shake-up following the last forum's demise. I don't know if you've belonged to other modelling forums, but I have to say, LSM and SPAR are the two friendliest places you can be to share modeling fun. Welcome to the forum!
  11. I'm gonna be building that same plane in 1/32 with the Cyberhobby kit one of these days. I've seen several builds with techniques ranging from cut up old paint brushes to micro-sponges. I think Eduard makes a masking set for that specific scheme. If not them, there's someone else out there who does, because I know I've seen it and almost bought it on one or two occasions.
  12. Yeah, the only 1/32 Tamiya Zero I've seen is a built one at my hobby shop. I've seen the 1/48 one (in the last picture) built up a few places and when Squadron had it as their Mystery Deal I had to pick it up.
  13. I never posted a picture of my bench or stash before, so here goes. The bench is in a little side room that doubles as a storage room where my parents keep books and stuff. I'm kind of anti-claustrophobic and love being in a cozy little space, so it works really well for me. The compressor is in my dad's shop, so I airbrush stuff out there, but for building most stuff, space isn't an issue despite the cramped feel. Overall, when I play music on my speakers and I'm getting into a model, I achieve modeling Moksha, haha. The stash is mainly a collection of great deals that I've taken advantage of in high school and college. Other kits in it are where the part of my paycheck goes that doesn't go into savings, lol. Since my other interests and hobbies are not very costly (besides golfing) I justify getting modeling stuff and don't really have any regrets. Sorry about the quality, the pics are off my Samsung phone, not my Canon, so stuff is a little blurry. Also, these are action shots. No effort whatsoever was made to clean up anything, nor were the kits in the stash organized or posed. This is just a quick glimpse of my modeling existence, not a picture-perfect layout for a magazine, haha. If you have any questions about anything you see in the stash or want to see better pics of anything, feel free to ask! And these are the few kits I keep right at the bench because they are either semi-in-progress (the Corsair), are on deck (the Panzer II), or are my motivation to keep working on my current project so that I can move onto cooler things (the Zero).
  14. Hahaha, I'm sure you can rack up some points soon enough!
  15. I see mine, and no one else's. It's just a thing, a lot of forums seem to have a similar system. If you were to have any warning points, they wouldn't show up to everyone else, just you and admins.
  16. Looks interesting. I'm always looking for an excuse to drive out to Cabella's, I'll have to look for it next time.
  17. Wow! I love the highlighted detail around the cowl. That intake is mean-looking!
  18. Wings Pallette is great, I love browsing to develop interest for future builds. Cybermodeler is also great for walkarounds.
  19. PAnderson, I had the same problem, so I saved the photo to my laptop, uploaded it to photobucket, and used that url. for the signature.
  20. If you want to see the ones already made, search "banner" or "banners" (I can't remember which) in the search-bar and the thread started a while ago should show up. I think there might be an Abrams one in there.
  21. I really want to do an Emhar kit someday, I cant wait to see how yours turns out. Something about those early tanks is just so cool.
  22. I gotta dig that game out, it's been too long. So much fun, so much creativity in the storyline. I mean, where else can you drink irradiated water out of a urinal?
  23. So far with test fits, the rear seems to fit well. I tried it with the top of the deck later and it seems that the fit will be tight overall, but I think that it should fit. I was surprised how early the fans are attached, they have you put them on right after the suspension, but since you do nothing else with the lower hull assembly after that until the last page, they could have you put them on any time in the directions. With the add on armor, they'll hardly be seen, which might be nice because they sit about a millimeter too far back judging by my test fitting.
