  1. Looked at em ... not sure about pulling the trigger just yet! Though I’ve got SOME organising to do ... that’s for sure! Rog
  2. At least it’s not a 200 scale ... better chance of hiding a pool being craned into the back yard!!
  3. If I’m not mistaken that’s the new Chandos Publications Version ... an update of the old Classics one? ... I’ve got it ... can’t quite justify $500 odd on the original collectable!! Rog
  4. For what ever reason ... I forgot to post this last night!! ... And now ... we get to the GOOD story. Every now and then ... you come across one of those bargains ... Where the seller either doesn't know the value of what he/she has ... or really just doesn't give a rats. ... And for whatever reason - No-one else has seen it! Well ... every week or two I jump onto e-Bay and run a couple of searches ... Sometimes for kits or other stuff I'd like ... sometimes to see what some of my rarer kits will sell for ... other times looking for Classics books. For the last little while I've been monitoring several sellers with the Me.262 4 Volume set. Going rate is about $800-$1000 AUD plus postage. A couple have sold ... and a couple more sellers have listed theirs. Bear in mind ... these values are in AUD ... not USD. Then ... about 2 weeks ago I saw an auction lot on e-Bay ... The ad reads: "Assorted books on the Messerschmitt Me.262" The thumbnail picture shows a bundle of books - and there, buried at the bottom ... are the 4 Volumes of the Classics Pubs set!! No bids ... at opening $250 ... The seller is based near Sydney ... Listed as "Collection only" with less than 4 days to go ... I'm thinking ... it can't hurt to ask, right? ... So why is he not offering postage? ... Well - all of these books will add up to - like 9Kg - which will make postage costs HUGE! ... Calculated at about $36!!! Oh really? ... well ... If your prepared to pack 'em each individually in double bubble wrap and send a sturdy box to Perth ... I'm in for the cost. You only have to send the 4 Classics books too ... I was really hoping to move the lot though, he says ... no worries - What will you accept? Well if I can just get the starting bid I'll be happy! Tell you what, I said ... How about I give you $300 exact ... you can keep the additional books and resell if you want ... and if the postage costs you less than $50 by the time you've packed everything you've made more than your original $250 asking. Deal!! ... But I'm sending you the lot ... Well ... okay then ... if you must So today this arrived: And now ... they are happy sitting with the rest of the family Happily ever after ... Rog
  5. Hey Jeff ... The single unit is a "Dynamic Power" one ... just like the Compressor and tank ... The other is called VidaXL ... Obviously haven't tried them yet ... but apart from books and model kits ... everything was bought off a site here in Australia called My Deal. A whole bunch of different stores - on the one site ... kind of like a budget mini Amazon or e-Bay. Rog
  6. I haven't assembled it yet ... so I'll make sure to post a "workbench" shot when I do ... but ... if you open out your hand (handshake style) and measure elbow to fingertip ... thats about the length of one of the two arms. The stand is about 700-800mm tall before sticking the lamp on it and the lens is just under 130mm diameter across with the host of LEDs surrounding that.
  7. Ok so ... a couple more packages arrived during the last couple of weeks ... I was forced to abandon any real modelling work for about 3 years ... the stash room just became storage ... But now I'm gearing up again First I grabbed an airbrush spray booth ... and then this box arrived the next day ... Containing a new LED driven magnification lamp, with some interchangeable lenses 3, 5 and 8 diopter and optional wheel stand ... Along with a few tools ... I only bought this knife set because it was cheap and had the small Vernier ... I'll get a proper steel one later Then - a few days later - 3 packages arrive ... My new airbrush compressor with tank ... along with a couple of cheap airbrushes. I have a Paasche V/L ... so I want to see how these compare ... but basically I wanted separate airbrushes - a lightweight one with a 0.2mm needle, a versatile one with 0.3mm - 0.5mm and gun with 0.8mm ... I haven't got the gun type yet ... but the Paasche has an 0.8mm suction action and some big a$$ jars ... ready for a couple of 4 engined heavies. Rog
  8. Straight from Murphys Laws of the Universe binder 1st ed page 387 ... "If there is an absolutely inopportune time for an event to occur ... there is a 99% probability that it will - at that particular moment" Mine arrived with clear turrets ... I hope yours weren't in that first frosted batch. But more to the point ... I hope your more precious parts survived kit-stash insertion!!! Rog
  9. That there my friend is a collectors item and will fetch a small fortune at an eBay auction!! nice work! Rog
  10. Another fond memory of a high impact incident with the round filing cabinet ... The old Revell Bf.110C-4 ... no amount of putty and re-scribing could ever fix that masterful puzzle of engineering ineptitude. I remember wishing I’d hung onto it if only to show the Dragon kit to it - “see ... with a little more effort, this is what you COULD have been!!!” Rog
  11. lol ... Young Aleisha's dad cursed me roundly when she asked for a Tamiya Spitfire for her 15th birthday ... the H&S Airbrush came on her 17th with squeals of joy from her and more dark looks from her parents in my direction. Her dad was voicing concerns about his 19y/o daughter moving interstate to study at university some 3400+ km's away with all the hormonal males around ... I said "relax Geoff ... unless they discuss tolerances and performance output optimums on the DB.601 ... or list the top ten German aces by number of arial victories ... they haven't got a hope!" Rog
  12. No pics of that mess ... or pretty much everything in the first 2-3 years ... (2008-2010) I bought 3 ... because - you know - cheap!! ... that first Emil hit the round filing cabinet after 5 days of mindless torture. The other two were given to a young lady of 14 back in 2011 ... who very patiently did VERY well with them ... caught the bug ... ... and is now doing some studies in aviation/aerospace engineering over in Melbourne somewhere. Rog
  13. Hasegawa Bf.109E ... Just got back into modelling ... "these look nice'n'cheap" e-sez ... there's a reason for that you know!! I learned to read up on reviews quite smartly after that!! Rog
  14. Some very nice work here guys! ... And congrats Ernie! that is a very innovative build. Rog
  15. Thats a lawsuit waiting to happen!!
  16. Were on the same page ... the A-20 is in my top 5 A/C - so chuffed they decided to release it as an IM kit!! ... I just ordered that ultimate look book on Amazon about a week ago! Rog
  17. I just LERVE night fighters ... I'm Just hoping I can do that kit some Schräge Music justice one day Rog
  18. Now that paint ref can come in REAL handy!! ... stolen a copy for future ref Rog
  19. Plenty more incoming Carl - a couple that I'm REALLY looking forward to ... I have a Tamiya Mossie to put together at some point so Decided to grab this one as a reference ... While the Dambuster Lancaster book could be read and understood by all ages, this one looks to be a little more adult orientated - although there is the caveat that I've only given it a cursory glance ... I'll give a more thorough opinion perhaps in a week or two?? Rog
  20. Midweek and I'm expecting more stuff to arrive ... but the computer wanted to update the software so I thought: "Meh! ... I'll photo these now" At the same time I ordered the Do.335 book ... I ordered the He.111 Book and the Ho.229 book ... Turns out that the eBay USA supplier for the Horten book was telling a porky ... They advised me it was shipped the next day - but there was no tracking number supplied. Profuse apologies ensued ... as well as a PayPal refund - without any real argument ... They are still adamant that they shipped it - and if so, I'll end up with another one on about the 20th. Meanwhile this was ordered through an Aussie supplier (Booktopia)... who, it turns out ... had to on-order from the UK to have it delivered to me ... A couple of weeks later and ... Ta-Da!! So with a PayPal refund inbound for the Horten book ... I went looking for another ... Abebooks was utilised and a purchase made via Book Depository UK. Similar problem ... 24 hours later I'm advised that it shipped - no tracking number is supplied, I lodge an enquiry 2 days later. 2 days after THAT ... I get a response "Sorry we are out of stock for that book and the supplier cannot restock us" ... A refund is issued but it will take 3 days to get processed back to my credit card ... At this point I decide to try a different tack ... I start Googling LOCAL booksellers with the Ho.229 ISBN (Heck - it worked for the Ju.88 Vol.1 book which was OOP at the time). I thought I'd done well when I found Specialty Books ... I went looking around their website and carted a few books ... but being twice bitten now - I'm starting to get a little shy on pulling the trigger ... So I call the guy ... He confirms he has stock of 4 of the 5 books that I've selected ... Guess which one is missing?? The rest are below: So ... there's a couple of books I spotted a year or more ago on Amazon ... of course, since then Amazon Australia has opened up. So I thought "It can't hurt to look, right?" ... So glad I did ... I bought this - AND at half the price of the other two suppliers! More in a bit ... Rog
  21. THIS!!!! ROFLMFAO!!! .... boo yah Smitty!!
  22. Betcha they're cleaning the gum off the IP's and the stale cigarette smell out of the cockpit ... probably replacing the stereo speakers too - blown with at the AC/DC music turned up to 11 Rog
  23. Is that one of our used F/A.18's there Carl?? ... Watch for the chewing gum stuck under the IP's!!! ... Or the smell of stale cigarettes Rog
  24. Being shipped to me as we speak! ... From an Aussie supplier Rog
  25. Mr E ... Thanks for the photo tips ... a 32' Sunderland ... wouldn't that be something?!? ... I saw you'd mentioned the A-12 before ... and I'm currently deciding whether to grab one ... and the Skyraiders, just so I have a complete ZM 1/32 collection (minus Kettengrad). There's definitely more to come ... some books ex-east ... although don't get me started on the Ho.229 Classics debacle at the moment ... I made my 3rd order tonight ... why people can't list 'current stock' is beyond me ... crossing my fingers for Amazons professionalism and an actual damn book!. Haven't decided between the HKM Lanc' and the Wingnut one yet ... That will depend on pricing. There's the ZM Hs.129's, Fw.190's and their other recent announcements (Ar.234, Bf.109G and P.51B) ... The F18's (A, B & F) and a BAe Hawk for my Australian themed stuff (God help me if some nut job ever pops out an F.111) although I did hear of one mentioned at some point in the past ... My bucket list includes a Do.17z in BoB livery a Wellington bomber and a Boulton Paul Disaster ... er Defiant. And then there's the question of armour ... but I'll pop the question I need answered up on a different thread! Rog
