LOL Peter. Thanks! Those belts are the plastic Fine Molds belts. All you have to do to them is, using some tweezers, hold them up to a hot light bulb and warm 'em up. THEN you can bend them to shape, etc.

Yes children, ANOTHER Corsair build. LOL I had started this build last year but set it aside to finish "later". Now is "later". I want to do a overall GSB a/c that isn't too heavily weathered. Either a carrier borne a/c or maybe a Marine one on Okinawa. At this point none are set in stone but one that I like is "Skipper's Orchid". I just ordered the decals from Fine Art of Decals so I guess this is the one I will do. 😀

Thanks Hubert! I'm glad you like it. I wanted to do something a little unusual and those markings filled that bill nicely. -
Thanks Rob! I will certainly keep that in mind if I decide to try them.

Thank you Ernie. I too have several on the SOD and the Corsair I'm getting back to is/was one of them! Started it a good while back and got no further than the cockpit. That gives me a good head start on the resumption of the build. -
YES, another Corsair.

No sense in hurrying to build it just because it's new, etc. What is it they say? All things come to those who wait? Maybe so we will see. LOL

Agreed and that is why I will delay building this one for a while.

Have any of you used them? Your opinion please. I'm considering ordering sheet #232909 for F4U-1D Corsairs (I'd buy the sheet from anyone here that has it and will sell it to me.) Yes, I'm considering ANOTHER Corsair and I want to do another GSB -1D this time and it looks like HGW has a sheet with some nice subjects on it. I have beaucoup Corsair decals in the stash but OF COURSE not any with the subject I might want to do.

I'm about to decide to delay this build for a bit hoping some after-market folks will offer a really nicely detailed cockpit set. I'm just not enthused with the kit one, particularly the pilot's seat. If I don't wait then, after I'm done, someone will have the cockpit set, etc. So I think I'll back-burner this one and do something else.

Thank you Ernie! I very much appreciate your info. I've done a little test fitting and agree with you that it should go together okay. Just keep in mind it's a short run kit, etc. It's on my bench right now and I intend to get some of the prelim painting started today (interior, etc). Building it OOB is exactly the way I want to do it anyway with the exception of the dive flaps. They'll be closed but will be better than doing the tedious drilling out of all those holes. One thing I see that will need addressing is the crude pilot's seat. Not even close to the real thing.

Hobby Boss F-84E back on the bench

All done. Check finished works. -
Finally done with this one. I didn't want to do a Korean War a/c so I decided on a post war Air National Guard bird. Colorful markings, etc. As the subject I wanted to build had no 1/32 decals available, only 1/72 and 1/48 from Echelon, I decided to get one of their sheets and do some re-sizing using my scanner and laser printer. It turned out to be a bit of a bear to get the markings sized right and the colors right but I managed to finally get it done to my satisfaction. Paint is several shades of Alclad with Testor's MM interior green I mixed to suit my eye. Wheel wells, etc are Testor's Zinc Chromate. The national insignia decals are from Super Scale. The cockpit and seat are resin from AMS. The correct style air brake is a result of a swap with Mark (1 to 1 scale) a while back. I hope y'all like the results!!!

Looking at a build review on the "other" site it appears this will be a bear to build. Feeling a bit deflated. 😐
