Huge Huey .....get yer 'Nam on
Martinnfb replied to PanzerWomble's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
It is shocking that the first thing that comes to mind when somebody mentions Vietnam is Huey helicopter. Not beaches, lagoons or temples. I am blaming commies. tunes -
Sorry about the confusion. That’s Poppy on the sofa . The cur was at the dog park.

This is such a weird coincidence. We just returned from a walk. And Pip has found a playmate, a black mouth cur. His buddy was twice of his size, but super kind and gentle. Pip gets constantly nipped and humped by another dogs, often smaller. It was a nice change to see them play without anxiety, just being dogs. ,, greetings from up North

border model Border Model 1:35 Heinkel He 111H-6

I believe the solution will be available shortly in a form of raised rivet sets ( HGW, Quinta, etc.). Overall this kit looks like a gem and the scale opens its potential even more. -

I love the unorthodox approach to the surface detail. Thank you for the review James. Cheers Martin -

There's no way to explain loss of a loyal friend, I wish I could take you out for a drink or hike in the Rockies, or both. Martin

Looking forward to this. Cheers Martin -
Stopped by at my local dealer. Gonna try the Ammo varnish and Dispiae putty. It’s slightly cheaper than Tamiya, so hopefully it performs as well.

Around here, the squirrels feed the local populations of ravens or magpies. Sounds cruel, but that's the result of the close proximity to the wilderness. I mean whatever they are plotting world domination anyway

1/24 Airfix Bf-109K (conversion)
Martinnfb replied to Martinnfb's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Thank you for the kind note, sanding sucks, especially because of the constant backtracking caused by adjustments. The reasoning behind brand new cowling are the AS series of DB603 engines that had bigger supercharger. The diameter and displacement required reshaping of the engine mounts/ bearing arms. The bulging was redesigned with new and improved aerodynamic fairings for less drag. The radiator and valve/rocker covers were bigger as well, hence the enlarged lower cowling. It all looks massive, but that's misleading, they just filled the areas around the existing bulges of the G type , figuratively speaking. There are few pictures shoving 109s G with mismatched cowling.
