  1. Hi again. I am currently working on a Spitfire Mk VII. I have C wing brass Master models 20mm Hispano cannons. The short stubs in the Hasegawa kit are much smaller than the brass. There is a choice of longer cannon barrels, which I can match with the kit. I am unsure what to do regarding the short stubs. One can see them here. The wing itself looks like this: How shall I deal with this? Must I remove the protrusions on the wing and place the brass barrels within the wing, or butt join the barrels in the manner of the kit instructions? Thanks guys. ( I realise I am asking many questions. It is due to my doing loads of modelling each day. That coupled with my natural ignorance I must follow the advice of Confucius "When in doubt ask") Thanks guys.
  2. Thanks mate. I do this all the time. I know a 6 year old who wants to be a scientist. So I built him this: I ended up doing some research and was able to inform him that with modern techniques and equipment a new species of dinosaur is on average discovered once a week all year round. Max is his name and he was stoked. Of course I gave THE MACHINE!!!! a Fw190 egg plane for Easter. As a teacher I care about hand eye coordination. Something lacking in many kids these days, I think due to too much time playing pc games. Having taught movement since 1982 I see a real difference. Anything I can do, you know.
  3. Great drummer. A shame he passed away. He couldn't afford health care and the system wouldn't help. "And so he died." Name the song that's from.
  4. The Seiran float plane is still progressing.
  5. Little Spitfire with soft edge camouflage. That won't matter. wa 1
  6. Yeah mate, me too. Plus I have trouble reading the little print on paint bottles! I had a look at the Airfix site and they show two built models. Both with soft edge camouflage. The kid won't know. It was just a birthday present he got ages ago. Months later he told me about it and that he didn't know what to do. I get so into the subject. This is not a competition build. He's 10. Really nice kid, Jarrah.
  7. Well I bought another kit to replace the decals. I know the camouflage shoul be hard edge but I have other work to complete so want to get this done.
  8. Thanks. It will be fine.
  9. I ordered the 1/72 Revell Mk II, for the decals. It will arrive tomorrow. I am sure my little flats atmosphere affects certain products, such as Micro sol etc. This really is where any frustration appears for a couple of minutes. Next year I will get a better place. I needed to strip it anyway. I will use a lighter under coat.
  10. Oh are the ZM kits limited edition?
  11. Anyway I have been working on the Mk VII Spitfire. It looks better. I will give it a thread in the morning. Good night.
  12. Never foolish? We obviously have never met.
  13. Oh I see. I lost interest when Cricket Australia fell under the control of a test failure. I have not watched a game since. I don't even know who the captain is. Possibly a cheat. I am over it. England won? Great!
  14. Great! Thanks. I think my harshness was due to hours wasted on a foolish build. 1/72??? Such a pointless exercise. I will complete it but will also give a better model.
  15. Did we? I had no idea. Lost interest some years ago.
  16. If I am really honest with myself, I have been looking for an excuse to build a better kit.
  17. Okay. A 1/72 Spitfire is unsatisfactory. I am gonna build this kid a proper model of a Spitfire. I think certain products do not work in my climate. My Life Colour and Hataka experiences proved this. So I will place my trust in Asiatic fluid products. GSI and Tamiya always work when not used on what are unsuitable European products such as Micro set. Or Airfix products. I will build him the 1/48 Hasegawa Mk VII. I have all the AM, RAAF decals brass guns etc. The Mk VII happily is on my shelf of doom. Time is too precious . Thanks guys. I feel better now. 10 minutes ago I was angry and frustrated. Both emotions sit uncomfortably on my shoulders. The kid is unaware he nearly got the 1/32 Tamiya Mk VIII. I decided it was too expensive to give away.
  18. ÷××++@@))¥¥€€€€€!!!!!! Micro rubbish. Stripping entire model, buying AM decals and repainting. =÷××!!! Damn it!
  19. I used Set on a glossy surface but it ran off. Then I applied Sol. I awoke to find a roundel with a crease. A CREASE!!!! Oh the humanity. I will try again. Mark fit is really strong. Especially the bottle with Strong! On it.
  20. Yah yee sa say um lo..... I taught Chinese martial arts for 30 years. My Chinese is Cantonese, not Mandarin. The words are similar with a different inflection. I think I am correct.
