Anyone make a hard wing conversion for the Revell F-4E?
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in Modelling Discussion
Carl, I just looked all through the Revell Phantom instructions on Scale Mates. The only hard wings are the RF-4C and RF-4E. All the other kits, including F-4F, are slatted. I did measure out the wing tips on my RF-4C and my built Tamiya F-4J. I think I could make them work if I have to. Waiting to hear back from BiggTim. -

Interesting. I have the F kit as well. Also got word on LSP that Harold use to make a hard wing tip set too. I’ve reached out to BiggTim to see if he can located the masters or molds. I’m actually needing three sets because I wanted to use a Revell kit for my Thunderbird build. Probably just as easy to use the F kit and swap parts needed. These damned Revell kits are mix masters! -
Loosie goosie! I had to laugh when I saw how loose it is. I bet the tail end was all over the road during spirited driving.

Anyone make a hard wing conversion for the Revell F-4E?
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in Modelling Discussion
Nope, the opposite. The Tamiya E kit is an early hard wing. The Revell is the later slat wing. In my reading, I found out the Revell RF-4C has the hard tips. I have one of those and I need to pull it from the stash to verify. I’m wondering if I could find someone to scan and 3D print a couple of sets. I’d normally just swap tips and build the RF as an E, but I need two sets. -
I will be if I live long enough to complete my stash.

Let me throw another food for thought idea out there. What’s to say we might be getting a slight level increase, but after a short while (geologically speaking) the oceans sea floor absorbs the water while filtering out the salt and replenishes the aquifers below the surface of the planet? Isn’t this kind of how we got salt mines in the first place? just spitballing.

Oh yea. This was fun trying to follow the three views. NOT!! Close enough. Screw it. I’m not getting any younger.

Wow! You got me with the ‘69 Mach1 with the 427 SOHC. And those Mopars, drool city! Some beautiful projects with a lot of love and cash infusion there. Canadian GM’s are always interesting.

Old neighbor of mine was about 72-74 and had new roofing shingles installed. I asked him how many years was his warranty. “You think I give a shit!?”

I use to live in what use to be a small town about 30 miles outside of Charleston. Of course it’s exploding in population due to all the industry moving in from Boeing to Mercedes and all the support industry. But back in 1972 they came in and clear cut the forest behind the neighborhood and dug it up for the sand to fill a swamp in North Charleston to build a mall. To drain the land they dug up a drainage ditch about 10’ wide and 8’ deep all the way down to the Ashley River. It was about 1/4 to 1/2 mile long. Closer to the river my friends were finding those huge megalodon sharks teeth. Like 6” tall. So in a nutshell we’re just heading back to where we came from I guess. I can’t wait to go fishing for Megalodons one day!

Boo! This man! I’m sure that returning ice age will kick in either just before this November or November 4 years down the road.

I love these tall tales. If it were true, do you think banks would still make loans or insurance companies would insure beach front property? My son moved down to the low country of SC in the Charleston area. He was harping on oceans rising because of the streets flooding in downtown Charleston during high tides and full moons. I laughed at him and told him that was happening when we moved there in 1970, and that’s when we were all going to die because the next ice age was coming faster than expected.

Holy schmolie! What a project this is going to be. -
LOL! Never been to England, but my mind was freaking out when we went to a Caribbean island that was left hand drive. And I was just the passenger. Traffic circles. A great idea from Europe that has been imported here. One small problem no one thought about before incorporating them on to US roads. We have NASCAR racing. Idiots hit the smallest of traffic circles and they think they are their favorite driver trying to take the lead lap and force the other driver into the wall. And then you have drivers that are afraid they are going to break their gas pedal if the step on it too hard. Edit: A new boat landing and beach area they completed last year has a couple of traffic circles incorporated into the roadway leading to the landing area. First problem is there are no roads inter-sectioning the main road. Just a circle in the middle of nowhere. Second, they didn’t build them big enough for a truck pulling a boat. Everyone that has used it hates it. outside the circle is a dirt road circle from guys pulling boats. It’s a joke about South Carolina engineering. It’s obvious that the idiot that designed it never pulled a boat in his life. They even put in islands around the parking area for boat trailers to get hung up on. Now we have everyone having to drive down the wrong side of the road to get out from the launch ramp or risk de-rimming a trailer tire.

Yea, I’m not kidding when I say this, but I think it was ‘22 we had right at 80 small quakes in the 2.0 magnitude. Geologist said it’s from water leaking into the underground plates from the river that comes from our lake. I kind of find it funny that they completely ignored the landfill that’s not far from it. 20 years ago it was level ground, today it’s a 200’ tall “hill” of compacted trash that’s probably teeter tottering the tectonic plates below it.

Nicely done John! I keep waiting for Quinta to release their printed interior set before I start mine. I asked them over a year ago if they had plans to produce them and they said they were. I have two kits in the stash and I keep telling myself that’s all I need. LOL.

Just look at the starboard engine. Top then side. What kind of wizardry are they using here? Panel lines on drawing? Nothing like the engraving on the model. ugh…off for another beer.

After trying to decipher these damned Revell 3 views, I’m now drinking. Well, that and trying to find my lawn edger blades I saw in my garage a couple of weeks back. They were right there. I told myself don’t touch them because I need to change the blade. Nope. Gone. I’m pissed. Screw it. Just ordered more off Amazon. But back to the 3 views. Top view shows both nacelles obviously the RLM 70. Side view shows one RLM 71. Impossible. Fuselage, same stupid mistakes. Patterns from above have no damned way to match side views. None. Just no way. It would take a year just to rewrite the instructions for this kit if they were to bring it out again.

Well, I guess the wings turned out OK. After this drys I’ll tape up the fuselage and shoot it. Decided to do this in two parts due to the sheer size.
