  1. I'm also doing 1:72, mostly airplanes when the paint or glue is drying on other models. Their function is more of a therapy model πŸ˜† Sometimes I build 1:144, I restarted the An-225 after a pause and in the meanwhile the 1:144 C-124 is also progressing.
  2. Sorry about a long hiatus in posting. The build has progressed nicely until I came to the engines. I had purchased the Metallic Details engines set and I dreaded tackling the tiny details. This week I finally "manned-up" and started the first engine. Here's some progress pictures. I have bent the tiny engine blades very carefully to not to break them. I glued the blades to the kit parts. I used the AK paint markers to touch-up the paint when necessary. They are a real time saver, I keep couple of colors on the desk for quick paint jobs. I don't have to clean the airbrush or the hairy sticks! 😁 Well, not much can be seen from the back.. I left the front bit unglued so it easier to paint the white parts something needs to be fine tuned. I can actually see through the engine. The metallic details parts are really nice. One down, five more to go... Here's one shot of the main body, primer with white. Some filler was needed in the wings.
  3. I stumbled upon this in Scalemates. Is this for real? (Dornier Do-17Z in 1:32 by Airscale)
  4. oh boy, thanks for sharing! I counted at seventeen of those Matchbox kits that I built as a kid in the 80s. I still have a few left in the display case. Many have been lost to the "anti aircraft artillery" strikes (i.e. bb guns) The tanks with the bases were especially cool. Fond memories
  5. Thanks for the tip, the Glamis castle looks really interesting as well. Regards, Jani
  6. Thanks a lot, Gus! We will discuss our options, Montrose seems like a good option since the Dunnottar Castle is also an interesting location. Last time we did a National museum of flight and the Tantallon castle double trip, maybe a similar trip now to the Montrose. Regards, Jani
  7. Hi! We are visiting our daughter in Scotland again. She has moved to Glasgow, so that'll be our centre of operations. What would be your places to go "near" Glasgow? I was trying to find any aviation or military themed museums, but my google-fu is not that strong now. Last time we went to the National Museum of Flight in East Lothian, that was a really nice place. Even the not-modeller-people liked it. 😊 I found Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum and Solway Aviation Museum, of which the latter seems to be slightly better. Montrose Air Station Museum is also interesting, but that is a bit farther away. Is there something else that I'm missing now? Any tips are appreciated. Regards, Jani
  8. Very sad news. Blue skies, Harv
  9. Now this looks really interesting. Following 🍿
  10. Following with interest how this kit will build up. I see that BjΓΆrn has a Thulin D listed in future projects. Thulin D was the first aircraft in the Finnish Air Force, it would be cool to build that one
  11. Revell has a Hawker Hunter T.7-T.7A in 1:32 listed on their website: https://revell.de/en/shop/product/037869090-hawker-hunter-t-7-t-7a Price tag is a bit nicer (49,99e) than the Meteor (119,00e)
  12. There I was slowly building the Minicraft C-97 while waiting for the paint to dry on the An-225.. trying to test fit the wings πŸ˜– There must be another kit floating around the world that has two starboard wings, right? If you happen to read this, please msg me πŸ‘‹ Also the canopy seems more like a canopy from a C-54, definitely not a C-97! πŸ™ƒ
  13. Big thank you to Ernie for organising the raffle again! Merry Christmas to all. Here's hoping for a better next year to everyone!
  14. I'm in. Sorry to be a little late to the party, but I'd like to offer a set for Bf 109 building: A kit: Revell Bf 109 G6 Early & Late (kit nr 04665) and a reference book, Valiant Wings Bf 109 Late series (F to K including the Z series) Alternatively, if the recipient is not keen on Messerschmitts or lives on the other side of the world, we can work out a gift certificate to the hobby shop of your choice. Merry Christmas, Jani
  15. Some progress report on the Kamaz. The Zvezda Kamaz is a new tool from 2024. It is surprisingly well detailed, especially when compared to the Mi-8. The Revell is a rebox of a KP kit from 1989. I suppose 35 years for development in moulding technology can be seen. It is almost a shame to butcher this nice kit. Almost 😈 I built the Kamaz when waiting for the cement to dry on the An-225. The cockpit was quite simple build. Lovely detail. But the pipes and lines and whatnots under the fuselage are really tiny. Here's the basically completed truck sans wheels and hubcaps. Now it is waiting for its turn at the paint booth. There's already some queue from other builds as well πŸ˜† -Jani
