Finally it's arrived! I only had chance for a quick scan but it seems excellent! Thanks to Kagemusha's heads up I got the donor HK F.4 for £55 delivered from lucky model so it's cost about £120 all in so not to bad at all for a comprehensive conversion. Watch this space I'll post some more pics tonight.

As we speak -
Voted Meatbox so I've got some moral support for when I start mine.

Pacific Models Hurricane.

PCM kits always need some fettling, but they are their own reward as you don't see that many at shows completed! Keep slugging away, great to see another one of these being done. -
Damn shame PCM never followed through with the Hurricane range, they're good kits. Although I reckon Tamiya will take care of that eventually, hopefully before Trumpeter/Hobbyboss do(although their 1/24 is one of their better efforts) Those aeromaster acrylics were superb and they did all the proper camo colours. I think Hannants Xtra acrylics range is the nearest now to the same type of paint. Guessing from the Techmod decals it's a polish one your doing?

I think it'd be beyond me to fix that, the hood does seem a little square in its cross section, I don't think the windscreen is quite right either, Fisher have sorted that in their F8 conversion 99% finished. Tad more weathering to do and it's compete. -

I believe it was the MkI R6915 that they got those from, that's the one that was hanging from the ceiling of the imperial war museum London. Very original aircraft. -

Found out from a mate who worked on the BBMF that the little square on the fuel tank is a station keeping lamp for formation flying at night or in poor conditions. -

I didn't pick up on the mass balance good spot! I'd be interested to see how the spinner looks after some re profiling, the prop blades could do with some to as they're to broad but not miles off. Could do with starting a snags list thread for this kit. -

To be fair to Kitsworld they went on very well, they've missed a couple that can be made out in photos, like ones on top of the engine nacelles. Their walk ways gave me a bit of trouble though as they've printed them as a whole piece with a huge bit of carrier film in the middle so I used the kit ones which were tricky to put it politely!! -

I've now given it a wash with Paynes grey Oil paint, a little bit of weathering and then it will get a final coat of Alclad light sheen before final assembly. -

Stencils went on nicely to be fair, a few more to do and it's Klear and wash time. Xtra decals were flawless as usual. I'm aiming for a slightly glossy finish when I'm done. -

I haven't forgotten about this build, I've been waiting for a decal sheet to be released from Kitsworld with a really nice 263sqn one I've always wanted to do since it featured on the classic airframe boxart. Well I got tired of waiting and ordered the Xtra Decal sheet even though it doesn't have any stencils at all, guess what got released two days later!! So I ordered the Kitsworld sheet too. They both arrived together this morning and I have to say I was really disappointed by the Kitsworld sheet, the decals themselves look like they were done on a home printer and the colours are weak, to add insult to injury they only give you the fuselage fighter bars for one side! I'd spotted this on their website a while ago and assumed this was why the sheet was delayed. It was a good job I ordered the xtra decal sheet! So my Meteor is now being finished as a 609sqn machine, I'm sure they'll issue a correction but ive waited long enough to finish this model. It's not all negative, the stencils are very good and apply nicely and have made the plain silver scheme look busier. Not much longer to run on this one!
