  1. Agreed with Peter completely. For years I didn't use any masks, now I have a full respirator and wear it religiously. I don't have a huge supply of the Mr. Hobby Self Leveling thinner so I opt for the other stuff. Good luck with the paint removal!
  2. I'm glad you posted the pick of the clamps for the Tomcat. I have replacement resin intakes for my plane so now I see what I may be faced with! Agree with Peter: where do you put all of these terrific builds?? Happy holidays! Chris
  3. Kriss, The Camo effect is very nice - great job! It is really hard to be consistent on a subject this large, but you nailed it. Chris
  4. Carl, That is a beautiful plane. Nice work! Chris
  5. I did two 1/72 Mustang IIIs and horribly mixed up the parts between the two - and they were from the same kits!! Now if I do multiple builds at the same time I try and do different aircraft, or at least different scales. Although I have mixed up parts between scales before - so maybe I need to rethink that strategy...
  6. Phil, Sorry to hear of all the trials and tribulations you are having with this build. Ugh!!! I have the ZM P-51D to build. I have used oven cleaner to remove paint on a build. It is nasty stuff (don't get it on anything metal!) but it really does work without damaging the plastic. Might be too late to suggest, but have you tried the Vallejo Metal Color finishes? They are not lacquer and I've found they shoot really well. I have had no lifting problems over the Vallejo primers, too. Especially the Vallejo Gloss black primer. I have done Alclad and MRP and love those paints but if you are having prep problems, maybe an easier route is called for? That said, Peter is an ace at finishes so following his recommendations is never a bad strategy. I usually shoot Alclad a about 7 psi at the airbrush but I always do a 'test shoot' on an old model (an 1/48 P-51D which I often clean/strip to keep the layers down) before applying to a build just to check the mixture and pressure. Good luck and can't wait to see how this turns out for you. Chris
  7. John, that is a beautiful build. Well done!!
  8. Damn, this is a big bird in 1/48. It is positively huge in 1/32!! Love the white/gray basing. This will turn out beautifully.
  9. Nice start!
  10. Same and keep having the same problem. I've had some success with Hobbyworld USA but looking at a random sample of colors, seems like they are also having the same issue SB has with availability. Any specific colors you are trying to find?
  11. Peter, Who do you buy your MRP paints from? Chris
  12. Tim, Excellent research on your revetments and clear instructions on use, application, and assembly. Well done! Chris
  13. Looking good and thanks for sharing about the Tamiya panel line washes. I have not purchased any and tend to just use what I make. Your interiors look awesome, as always. Chris
  14. Gorgeous work Kriss!! Wow...
  15. I thought Santa would be more of an SR-71 kind of guy...
  16. Hi folks, I've been dealing with some life issues (mother's dementia is slowly accelerating) so have been 'away' for a while, but I'm all in with a Zvezda 1/35 Armata. It has some extra bits including some PE and resin. The box is a little beaten-up: it originally came with a bottle of Kalashnikov vodka which has mysteriously disappeared. However, the styrene is solid. For our International folks, I'll be happy to offer a $75 gift card to the LHS of choice, if shipping to you is outrageous. Chris
  17. Definitely beautiful work. Agreed, we need a top-notch 1/32 P-39 kit. Loved the old Eduard 1/48 P-39/P-400s.
  18. Me too. Disaster!!
  19. I think I deleted all of the pictures we took at PIMA, after sending them to you! I didn't know Radub took one of you there. It was H O T!!!! Chris
  20. John, Very cool work! Love the P-39 and SH is a wonderful kit in 1/32. Nice work and love the research on the sand base coat. One of the best things is that the cockpit is so open, with the car doors. Chris
  21. Peter, which kit are you going to use? The SH kit? 👍
  22. Looking good!! Have you looked at the AMUR flaps? The oil canning is amazing.
  23. Ernie, Not sure if this thread will help or not. I have not hit all the pages, but I didn't see anything clear on the figure. Take a look at page 7 however. 24. From Facebook: Harv has a new chair and has been getting out of the house! Friday they went to a restaurant, with Harv getting practice driving the chair. Keep it up, Harv!
  25. Thanks Maru! I bet that was good! And HB to YOU too!!!
