afvmodeller Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Hello everyone Mengs A39 Tortoise minus about 40% of it to replicate the Kirkcudbright range example Two part feature in Issue 72 of AFV Modeller regards David 4
Administrators James H Posted July 24, 2013 Administrators Posted July 24, 2013 SHIT! That is fantastic. Who would have thought that a wreck would look so cool? Loving that one David. Looks like I might have to take a look at that issue, being an Air Modeller subscriber only.
Paulster Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Superb, I'm guessing that last one is the actual tank, it's a very good model and well done! I am guessing the last picture is also of the model.
Dave J Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Beautiful Dave! What did you use for the ground work?
Paulster Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 No they're different. You have to really look, though (around the mantlet the rust spotting is different...grass clumps on the tracks are smaller IRL vs. the build). Overall, that's just a staggering effort. I stand corrected. Wonderful and inspiring work.
Paulster Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 What a horrible fate for something that belongs in a museum. Hindsight's always 20-20.
LindsayT Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 I know superlatives fly fast and loose on forums, but I can say without hesitation that your tank is the most realistic representation I've ever seen. Just incredible! Bravo! Lindsay
afvmodeller Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks for all the nice words everyone, the last picture IS the real vehicle as a comparison, much as I would love to take the credit for it The grass is Sisa Moss but there will be a detailed explanation in the article as its a bit complex to describe here! regards David
Matt_ Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 It's a beauty! The quality of the groundwork really does compliment the realism achieved with the tank... Matt
Steve Scanlon Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 This is so realistic looking, I was stumped as to model or real, well done, Steve.
