mikec
..Greetings Tiger; Very nice Sky Raider .................... . Very impressive weathering on the centerline external. It looks like she took a dump. You may want to take her in for a check-up, and find out why she can't hold her oil. Very nice weathering on the rest of the A/C. One could always put some bullet holes in the cowl. This would explain the excess oil. Mike . . .
FrankC
. .... Very nice weathering on the rest of the A/C. One could always put some bullet holes in the cowl. This would explain the excess oil. FYI - No bullet holes are required.. Actually the SPAD leaked oil like a sieve and the amount shown on the model isn't at all out of line. I'm working on the J model - great job! .
harvey boyer
Yep. Basically they were an oil can with a hole in it. Very good weathering............Harv
royboy
The Spad was well known to be a big leaker of oil, my friend (US Navy ret'd - ex Spad Driver) told me that when out on missions he'd be paying a lot more attention to the oil gauge rather than the fuel one due to it's enormous appetite! Any model of this aircraft should always show oil leakage in large proportions, Tigger has it right and it's quite normal to look as he's depicted.
