Jamme Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 Hi Martin. Thank you for the nice comment, Mate. Happy you like the color. It's Tamiya XF-7 (mat red) with a drop of XF-9, then, as usual my favorite Dark Wash from MIG. Cheers, Jamme
One-Oh-Four Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Hello Jeroen. Thank you for the very, very nice comment, but I'm not a "top" modeler. I learned much of the techniques on forums, books and seeing other modelers buildings. I think I'm an average modeler, that's it. To answer your question: Yes it's a small strip of Evergeen that I glued on the side cowling. The instructions says "fill Gap" depending which version you build. I dry fitted the part, and there was enough place to put the strip, But...... Be careful, to dry fit ALL the cowling parts before doing this, because the smallest error, and the rest doesn't fit anymore. Hope this helps. Cheers, Jamme You know, Jamme, the real "Top"-modellers are few and far between. And the bar is being raised every year... I mean, what I found ab-so-lute-ly stunning 10 years ago, is still very beautiful but you see that much more people can reach that level... If they keep on building, learning, accepting constructive criticism etc. As a Dutch saying goes: "Oefening baart kunst". In English something like "Art is borne out of exercise". Looking at the above photos of the engine, radiator and cowling panels, I'd say you are very much ABOVE average. And I don't say that just to give you a good feeling. You know that if I think that if something may be finished better or I have reservations about a finish, that I say that too. Not to be like an arrogant "know-it-all", but rather meant to be friendly constructive. I mean, if everyone only says oooooh, or aaaaahhh, then no-one gets a chance to learn something or discuss just why to choose a certain technique and not another! I even gave some comments to Jeroen V. and Jeroen P.! I still live so.... I do understand however that there are people who would be inclined to think: "All right sport, if you have such strong opinions, show us your results...!" Wellllll, eh.... yeah.... Let's say that nobody is perfect?.... So, somewhere in the message was the hidden meaning that I really like your UP! For instance; good of you to paint the clamps for the rubbers between the radiator and the coolant pipes. Cheers, Erik. 1
Jamme Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 HI Everybody. Here is a little UP! Following the instructions and the painting and decaling will begin. Fuselage is base painted: I then painted the exhaust and put it in place: Then closed the front fuselage: Glued the lower wing, painted it XF-59 + Gloss clear: and when dry started the decaling: Then painted the wheels: and the wheels base: Coming back in a few minutes.......
Jamme Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Had a little painting work done on the fuselage: Put the fuselage decal: The underside decal is put in place and started "relief" The wheel support is assembled, painted and decaled: Under wing almost finished: Started the weathering and here are the results (not finished yet....) and the bird is "in cross" The underside: That's it. Thank you for looking. Cheers, Jamme
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted October 27, 2013 Administrators Posted October 27, 2013 Looking good there Jamme!!! Lovely work and nice shading!! You're way ahead of me now
Jamme Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Thank you very much Martin. You will be disappointed, my friend, but WWI is definitively not my cup of tea. I enjoy the build, for sure, but I prefer WWII or jets. Cheers, Jamme
Woodshedwings Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Great update as usual. How did you get on with the lozenge decals? Looks like they settled down nicely. Keep up the good work. (I can see I'm going to have to get my finger out!)
Jamme Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Thank you Jeroen. Will try to finish it next week, as I have other projects I want to start. Cheers, Jamme 1
Jamme Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Thank you Woodshedwings for the nice comments. The lozenge decals where almost perfect, I used only warm water and an hairdryer. Put a little Microscale "Sol" solution on somme difficult places, but I have to say, the decaling is really easy. Cheers, Jamme
Jamme Posted October 27, 2013 Author Posted October 27, 2013 Thank you very, very much George. Really appreciate this. cheers, Jamme
