Unless a judge was fluent in Japanese, I bet no one caught it.  I sure as hell wouldn’t. 
But there you have it.  Time to strip it back down to bare plastic and start over.

I could barely make out the silvering.  But now that you pointed it out….

Im thinking a Dewalt 4.5” grinder with a flap disc would do the trick.

I like the way you think!  A good old belt sander will also work in a pinch. 
 

Seriously though, if you’re competing at a Nationals level, that simple little bit of silvering will sink you badly.  It sucks, but it’s life.  And what sucks even more is that I DON’T get silvered decals. Ever.

I have a love/hate relationship with decals. Usually they go wrong for me which is why I prefer to use masks for as much as possible. 

And yet, when I don't have a choice they work out. Most of the time.

Can you lightly feather some paint on?  With all the straight lines on the decal, I'd consider trying that before more extreme measures.
