FullArmor Posted November 19, 2023 Author Posted November 19, 2023 I got this for a reasonable price🙂. This is old kit and can convert to RC. So lots of mods needed😬. Crudely built as the real thing 😉 4
FullArmor Posted November 19, 2023 Author Posted November 19, 2023 I removed one speaker attachment and one to go. Next have to fill up those speakerholes. 3
FullArmor Posted November 23, 2023 Author Posted November 23, 2023 I am building working healight unit. Bulb is from maglite solitaire. I wanted realistic beam and led light is too blue and bright. If there is battery compartment might as well use it. Headlight is attached with small screw if i need to replace a bulb. The wire from healight is too thick and off scale because i wanted to use connector. 5
FullArmor Posted November 23, 2023 Author Posted November 23, 2023 Volumeslider and speaker holes rectified. 5
FullArmor Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 I ordered engine cover grille and alu barrel. Barrel is for trumpeter kit and grille is for henglong rc tank...so further modifications expected 😬 2
mark31 Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 looking forward to see more.great work so far i have the trumpeter kit in the stash. Mark 2

FullArmor Posted November 24, 2023 Author Posted November 24, 2023 Spring taken from maglite. Copperpieces from carlock. Only one battery needed. I tried to keep everything simple. 6
FullArmor Posted November 26, 2023 Author Posted November 26, 2023 Christie suspension units installed. I used plastic trips and screws to install because i wanted them to be removable if something goes wrong. 4
FullArmor Posted November 26, 2023 Author Posted November 26, 2023 Manual gives instruction to use bushing B12 and lock tensioning system solid. I made appropriate spring and now it can use as real tensioning system. Perhaps this is implemented on rc model or not. 5
FullArmor Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 Suspension arms assembled. There will be small circles to cover those srewheads. This build reminds me of old tamiya RC car kits. Suspension arm pivot tolerances were not great. I added small piece of shrinktube to compensate. 5
biggtim Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Man, I really want to build one these 1/16 kits at some point. With my luck, I'd find out how many things it was missing, or got wrong, and spend the next year building 3D models and printing them all and never finish the actual kit. Seems to be all I do these days, is find more stuff to make.... 😁 Tim 3 1
FullArmor Posted November 28, 2023 Author Posted November 28, 2023 Yes. These old 1/16 kits have lots of modification potential. Grab if you can find good deal. 2
FullArmor Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 I noticed that some of casted parts does not have appropriate texture. I wanted to recreate soviet armor real crude casting. Before processing. After processing. I used tamiya limonene to soften surface and then used wirebrush to create small inperfections. I think this looks far better. 7 1
FullArmor Posted December 2, 2023 Author Posted December 2, 2023 First real error off this kit. You supposed to use 2.3 mm diameter srew in an 2.6 mm diameter hole.🤨 And there is no such srew in this kit. Luckily i might have something in hand. 4
HubertB Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 Good to see some old style calipers in use. At some stage, I thought it would be a smart (and modern) idea to use digital calipers. It was a good idea, until I found out that the battery was always OOS when I needed to use the calipers 😤. I have reverted to the old-style manual calipers. Now the only potentially OOS item is my eyesight 🤓 Hubert 2 1

FullArmor Posted December 3, 2023 Author Posted December 3, 2023 External fuel container mounting brackets redone. And handles. 6
jep1210 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Ooh, this is shaping up nicely, jumping on board to watch. 2 1
FullArmor Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 Just got new mesh for enginebay. This is for henglong tank. Luckily it fits perfect. 👍. The plastic was very thick. 2
