JohnB Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 I've been considering redoing this particular Corsair model so now I'm going to get with the program. The overall blue/gray I used on it just doesn't look "right" to me now. I'm going to repaint the whole a/c except for the undersides. I intend to mark it as it was before repainting (unless I come across another Corsair I like better and haven't done yet which is unlikely as I've built 10 Birdcage Corsairs). This is just something I've been thinking about for a while. We'll see how it turns out. 8
Peterpools Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 John Nice plan and gong to be a treat to follow. 2

JohnB Posted March 22, 2024 Author Posted March 22, 2024 I've decided to go with this a/c instead of just repainting, etc and using the "old" scheme. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted March 22, 2024 Posted March 22, 2024 Wow, impressive re-do. Can't believe you got the glass out without it breaking. 3

It should be a attractive Corsair when done. It will need some weathering but I don't plan to go all out on that. Enough is enough I think. Those 2 little windows popped right out. Nary a problem. 3
Peterpools Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 John Nice progress on the redo - looking mighty good. 2

JohnB Posted March 23, 2024 Author Posted March 23, 2024 Painting and decaling done. Next will be a clear flat overall. Then fading/weathering. So far I think it looks really good. 6

CANicoll Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 Wow, how did you get the wings off, or they were not attached? Nice re-do, for sure. 3

JohnB Posted March 24, 2024 Author Posted March 24, 2024 Done with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/20037-birdcage-corsair-redo-completed/ 2
Peterpools Posted March 24, 2024 Posted March 24, 2024 John Just over the other forum - what a tremendous redo and the Corsair looks awesome. Weathering is light and so very realistic. 🏆 2

Peterpools Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 John The weathering was perfectly done and enhanced the build as compared to heavily weathered models that should be displayed in at least a vignette for time and place. I should have been clearer in my original post. 2

I have seen some aircraft so heavily weathered, if it were a real airplane, it would have been so heavy it never would have got off the ground. This weathering is spot on. As always, John’s talents shine. Jeff 2
