Guest styrenedemon Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 That looks like salt to me. It was hard to tell from the earlier pictures; at least for my bad eyes. I really like the paint job too. Thats a very good looking coat of black. I can't wait to see the salt come off.
harvey boyer Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Yes, it's salt. I'll be brushing it off in the morning, then spray a coat of gloss clear. Then set for another day, not to touch it. Then I have a TON of things to finish up. Glad you all like it. I an so EXCITED !...........Harv
Grant Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Errrr, are you sure you want to do that shade of black?? Only joking ... it looks spot on and when the salt comes off it'll look fantastic. Good job Harv. 1
rkranias Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 great pre-shade selection and finish. the salt is workin' it. you must be so stoked to get some paint on this bird. looks great..... 1

coolboxx Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 some great effects Harv cant wait for your next installments 1
harvey boyer Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 I have been so excited about this, Please, all comments and critiques are welcome ! Hope you enjoy as much as I am. Sprayed clear gloss this morning, and most of the masking removed. Stuck the tires on for effect. I think the salt is a little over done, but not too bad. I think the pit really makes it POP, as well as the engine detail. Thanks for stopping by............Harv ( the happy camper) Still lots to do, weathering, props and spinners, wing tanks bay doors and of courses, Eli's great decals...... 2
Jamme Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Fantastic job, Harv. The salt is overdone now, but with the weathering, I'm sure it will be OK ! Love it ! Congrats, Jamme
harvey boyer Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 I treated myself to a little bench time this morning, and tried a bit more weathering with a silver artist pencil. This is were it stands. I like it, I think I'll leave the wing roots as they are. Maybe a bit more weathered than should be, but prove me wrong. Please, all comments welcome. Enjoy....I am.............Harv 1
Grant Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I agree, looks really good Harv although I'm not sure how the pilot saw through that tinted windscreen!
Guest styrenedemon Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 It's looking suburb to me. I think you are probably experiencing what I do when I photograph my work; the pictures are just not a good representation of what you see with he naked eye. Photographs tend to make things a little more stark than they are sometimes. 1

Jamme Posted April 25, 2013 Posted April 25, 2013 Work is work. And that's what brings money to buy kits We will wait! Cheers, Jamme
harvey boyer Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Had a chance to get to the 38 today. I removed the nose decals last night, and to my horror, a lot of paint along with it. This morning, I masked it off and sprayed some gloss black in a can. Was way to shinny, so buffed it some to tone it down Looks ok. I will put the new decals on later today. Got the left boom aluminum panels done around the turbo and I'm not sure about it. Kind of raggy. I'll think on that. But slipped the turbo in and I like that. Also added some brown wash on the left wing and wiped down. Sure makes a difference. Hope you like............Harv
