Administrators JeroenPeters Posted October 30, 2015 Author Administrators Posted October 30, 2015 Can't stop looking at that little cart. Just, a little cart - you sure that's in 1/32 ? Or did you sneak in a real one... I got inspired by your rusty photo's!
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted October 30, 2015 Author Administrators Posted October 30, 2015 Cheers guys, Also adding some dinges and dents to the nose-cone, since that is what i see in my reference pictures...
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted October 31, 2015 Author Administrators Posted October 31, 2015 Also started work on painting the pilot figure.
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted October 31, 2015 Author Administrators Posted October 31, 2015 Not Oger, bur still a very beautiful suit, Jeroen. But.... why the parachute harness in a one-way aircraft ? Good question! Well... I found photo's of the suicide squad pilots with parachutes on. I guess you'd want to bail out in case of technical problems and live to pull a: "same player shoots again" http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/japanese-militaria/kamikaze-pilot-headband-334520-3/ These are all kamikaze pilots:
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted October 31, 2015 Author Administrators Posted October 31, 2015 Or, standard issue, enforced by the Pilot's Unions - no matter what the mission Just did some searching. It appears sometimes the reason for kamikaze pilots to wear them was to increase the comfort. It made the hard seat a lot less hard
kahunaminor Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 Yes, the most important thing on my mind during a suicide mission is a comfortable seat! Great build Jeroen, unusual subject and carried off with panache. Regards,
Wingco57 Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 I would put a cushion on my windshield to soften the blow. Cees 1
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 3, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 3, 2015 Here we go! Almost finished with the figure: 1
Administrators James H Posted November 3, 2015 Administrators Posted November 3, 2015 Too cool. You can paint my figures too 1
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 3, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 3, 2015 And with the Katana: 2
GusMac Posted November 3, 2015 Posted November 3, 2015 Beautiful work Jeroen. The attention to detail is superb. Gus
Wingco57 Posted November 4, 2015 Posted November 4, 2015 LIke the face Jeroen, no loss of face! Saves you from using the Katana. Cees
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 10, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 10, 2015 Ok. onwards and upwards! Added more PE detail to the nose: And added the ailerons, with scratched control rods: Almost ready for paint! 1
Wingco57 Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Your favorite part, remember not to sneeze while doing it. Might get some spectacular weathering results. Cees
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 10, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 10, 2015 Yup! I'll aim my sneezes carefully.... Here's the final bob: Pitot tube: 2
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 11, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 11, 2015 Me too, a beautiful little kit. Was just looking at a color photo of one in the SDASM collection ( Charles Daniels Japanese a/c collection ) and this one is finished in a distinctive glossy light blue color. Wonder if that was the original color, as opposed to the box art... Or a Museum paint job ( let's use that leftover tin of blue paint for this one... ) Dammit! Now you're making me do the research! This is what I found. A long topic about the FS-translation of some relics. Looks like I need to throw some grey / green and blue in the mix. Modulation of a light grey colour will do the trick. Already starting pre-shading.
Wingco57 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 That is the RAF Museum Cosford location. Cees
GusMac Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 My father had a Vauxhall Viva in that shade of blue back when I was a kid. With the brakes it had there was a definite similarity to the Okha - every trip could result in sudden death! Looks great Jeroen. Gus
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 13, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 13, 2015 My father had a Vauxhall Viva in that shade of blue back when I was a kid. With the brakes it had there was a definite similarity to the Okha - every trip could result in sudden death! Looks great Jeroen. Gus LMAO!! Omg.. Well... had to back track a little to eradicate a small upper seam that showed up on the nose (visible in the photo). Some more Mr Surfacer, sanding and polishing and it's all gone. This weekend time for paint! Cheers!
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 14, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 14, 2015 Paint on! I made my own mix. RLM Grey blue / White / Olive green (just a little). Think this comes close... 1
Administrators James H Posted November 14, 2015 Administrators Posted November 14, 2015 Very nice! I like that colour. Time to formulate my own, almost
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 15, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 15, 2015 That finish does look good, Jeroen. Cheers George! Just finished the underside. Quite happy with the colour. Next: Sealing it and decals. 1
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted November 15, 2015 Author Administrators Posted November 15, 2015 Nice. Rivets are really starting to pop too. Really like the dinged up nose too. Looking forward to the decals. Cheers JD, Spent some more time getting rid of tiny flaws and sealed the deal with Future: 2
