converting the HK Models prototype Lancaster into a Manchester.

Recommended Posts

I blame Tom for giving me renewed inspiration for the Manchester.

Working on the cockpit for a change. The instrument panel has been made to fit.

The navigators seat has been modified from a Special Hobby Buffalo. The

cockpit instrument panels will be detailed using various pe sets by Airscale and Reheat.

Cheers

Working on the pilot's seat at the moment. Does anyone have the basic dimensions for it? I have made a first attempt but it is not wide enough and

the pilot should have a very slim behind to be able to sit on it .

Thanks chaps,

@Tom. Jeroen came over yesterday and we discussed the 3d drawing of the engine nacelles. Very excited about that.

@Gus. Don't know yet, I'll cross that bridge when I get to it LOL.

But looking at the current state of things it looks very impressive, I always loved the look of the Manchester.

Cheers

First progress on the wheel. Done in Cinema 4D. The wheels are slightly smaller than the Lanc wheels, but Cees will provide me with some more measurements to double check.

Getting these 5 cm puppies printed in 3D will cost around 19 euro per wheel. Thats why I'll do a test with two hollow halves and see what that costs..

The Manchester is really making headway on all fronts. A milestone was reached today when the starboard outer wing was permanently fitted to the centrewing. The whole assembly is still detachable from the fuselage though. Otherwise it will not be possible to transport to Telford in November.

Looking good gents. 19 euros a wheel?! I know a dodgy garage round my neck of the woods who could probably supply the real thing for that, no questions asked!

Seriously though, that 3d rendering looks lovely and the nacelles look great too.

Both wings fitted to check dihedral. There is a 2mm difference. I can live with that. This is a big model. That's a 20cm ruler and an a3 cutting mat. The wings remain detachable at the root. Thanks to the very clever attachmentpoints HK Models provided. Hopefully the Lancaster kit will have them too.
