  1. Thanks Jeroen, likewise. James, haven't had time to use it yet, although I did finish the other tailfin Last evening. sjeesh. Cees
  2. Thanks chaps, Got mr surfacer today at Heiden and also met Jeroen Veen which was a pleasure. Yesterday I finished one tailfin, one left to go. Cees
  3. Hi James, Yes I plan to do that, first to give the whole area a smooth surface and to blend in the strips. Also to make sure the strips stay firmly in place. Wouldn't want to have some come loose later. Any tips are welcome. Mr Surfacer is on my shopping list tomorrow. Cees
  4. Hmm nobody replied, why do I bother But it has been a while since the last update, that doesn't mean I have been sitting doing nothing though. Great progress has been made on the tailplanes. I got a tip from PH-GEO to represent the fabric on the surface why not use ......tape. Why not, I had some aluminium tape left from the kitch floor. It worked a treat. The last few days were spent to cut all those tiny not to mention shiny strips. Sometimes it made me cross-eyed The elevators are now glued in place at an angle and the trimtabs as well. It really is looking like a Whitley tailplane. Nex to do the two tailfins and then the tailplanes are as good as done. Tomorrow off to Heiden Germany with Jeroen and One oh Four, will be a blast Cees

Still not convinced about that spinner, would like to see some more ino on that. Funny is to see this example seems to have Spanish tyres. Cees
  6. Jamme, Have you tried the Key Publishing Forum? In the historic section are a lot of people who work on these Aircraft including paint, Steve V is one of them, you usully get a good reply fast. Cees

True, but the backplate of the spinner is not visible, the 109 usually had a short spinner and Thick backplate, some research is in order here. Cees

The spinner is non-standard, I wouldn't trust these "restored" examples. Cees
  9. Now the monkey comes out of the sleeve......... Cees
  10. No beercan this time, Wouldn't want people to get the wrong impression about my other pursuits. Here's another short update, the tailfins have the undersides sanded to the aerofoil of the tailplanes. They now fit snugly on top of them. Will need to insert some wire to give the joint more strenght later. You can also see the cut outs for the trimming tabs, these will be added later and set an angle to give some "live" to them. Slowly but surely we're getting there. The fuselage shapes will be made from balsa. They will serve as moulds for vacuumforming. After the tail is finished that's the next project. Grant, One Condor, so two are a Condor Legion????? Cees
  11. Instructions printed on toiletpaper too. Cees
  12. Famous last words. I made a booboo yesterday scribing the trimtabs on the rudders. I slipped and The edges were a mess. Had to cut them out, including the elevators. This actually is a good Thing as the tabs go up when the elevators are down such as when parked. You learn All the time. Cees
  13. Next update, The rudders and elevators have been seperated, everything is square. Now I'm worried, it never goes as well as this one does at the moment. A small bird tells me.... Cees
  14. Excellent progress, Don't make the stripes too perfect, they weren't in real life judging by the pic. This will be one beautiful model when finished. Cees
  15. Bedankt Jamme, Smalish update, although a significant one in my view. The blanks for the tailplane and fins have been finished. Now the fun part can start such as seperating the elevators and rudders, scribing the panellines and general detailing. In a short space of time a lot of progress has been made. Hope you like it Cheers Cees
  16. That would be ubercool, but where do you get one? I think Sir Peter and his gang make these new For film work. Cees
  17. Thanks Paul, Now you tell me LOL, good tip, I know the brand an will look for one. Forgot to mention that I also have a small hand plane that I found in the Toolbox (after the first tailplane was done). That worked very well too for Rough shaping. Cees
  18. Another update, A pic of the basic fuselage shape, it's genenerally a wedge, not figuered out how to tackle the masters but that will be a matter of time. About the tailplanes, the coarse sandpaper routine didn't work, but files did. It took quite a few hourse to get where I am now but the two tailplane halves are almost finished. Althoug in the pic you see only one. They need some polishing but it went surprisingly easy. You see the before and after situation, Just remove the bits that are not Whitley tailplane (yeah right). When Jeroen Peters popped in for a beer sateruday evening he suggested to place something next to the parts so you can see the size. Well, we all know the size of a beer can don't we......... I am now working on the tailfins to the same principle. This is fun. Cees
  19. Good to see you didn't get your wires crossed. Looking great matey. Cees
