  2. Interestign topic indeed, when you look at it from various angles, there are some pros and cons. Bottom line is, in my opinion, with what intention is one selling kits; -selling of to create space or invest the revenue into new acquisitions -selling kits at as high a price possible without ever having the intention to build them in the first place What do you think?   3. Minor update, Oops forgot the beercan again, next time. Been muddling in the cockpit area, the early Eduard etched set really makes a difference. Odd bits from the sparesbox and some "Gizmology" (quoting Shep Paine here) makes the rear a bit more interesting, not that anything can be seen anyway. Some wiring in the starboard half also gives a bit of life there. Who can spot the Matchbox Spitfire 24 bit here? Cheers Cees

  6. It's an expensive way of loft-isolation. Kits are meant to be built. Had a discussion with someone about it at the museum a while go. A Selection Of unbuilt kits had been donated (very old airfix,frog etc). One of our volunteers (many modellers) said we Had to keep them safe because they were valuable. I said build them. His face was shocked with horror. I thought something, not worth repeating here hehheh. Cees
  7. Did you know pilot's were fined £5 if they taxied in with flaps down? Spitfire flaps were retracted after landing to avoid damaging them. There are almost no pics of parked aircraft with flaps down. All you have to do is select flaps up, the little lever in the left hand corner Just over the oxygen indicator. Very nice build. Cees

  12. Update, Have been working on some more detailing of the frames and stringers. The "detail" on the fuselage wall is pure fiction but gives a busy feel. The structure on the walls and the details on the floor are according to references. When the Wireless operators seat is fitted not much can ben seen anyway. Also a pic of the vacform canopies which I found on ebay, very pleased with them. Can't understand why Revell chose to model an early Beau of which a small number were built. Finally a pic of the starboard engine nacelle which really shows the pugnacious character of the Beau and the porcupine exhaust dampers that are a real must in this scale. They look fantastic.   13. Hmm yes, you are correct about that. Building the interior and general construction isn't the problem but Indeed the clear parts are. Will make a start soon on that FN 4a turret soon to see for myself. But I am curious what HK Models makes of the Lancaster turrets. Cees

  17. George, My pleasure heh heh. We can us more Beaufighter builds. They are rarely seen on forums, same goes For the Revell Mosquito, they did some great kits in the seventies, must have been Lucy in the sky with diamonds I gather. Cees

  19. Something that I miss in our rapid developing aftermarket situation is a selection of aircraft gun turrets. There are Falcon transparency only sets in the smaller scales but nothing in our scale. Wouldn't It be a great idea if a selection of British, German or American gunturrets became available? I could use a FN4a tailturret or FN16 nose turret for the Whitley. Perhaps the HK bomber kits could Give a boost towards this. Or is the market too small. What do you think? Cees
  20. After the Whitley tailplanes I feel the need for a short deviation. The Beau has been dug out from the attic Today. Prepare to see some progress on this one. First the interior will need detailing and painting. Then The airframe will be quickly build up (I hope) and the brutish lines of the Beau emerge. Then the real fun part Can begin, painting that enormous stretch of plastic, not that I am complaining. Cees

  22. Span of the tailplane is 26 cm (without the fuselage width) height 10 cm. Total fuselage lenght Is about 75 cm, it will be huge. i try not to think about where to put it. Cees
  23. Thanks chaps, It itched so badly I had to scratch This evening I sprayed the parts with a first coat of dark grey paint. It really blends in the various materials. I am very very pleased how the rib tapes turned out. They are very subtle, as they should be. The coat of paint also revealed that some more polishing need to be done as scratches and sanding marks are evident, but nothing major. That's the purpose of that paintcoat after all. Here are the pics, the parts are sitting on the next phase of this journey, the balsa beams from which i hopefully can whittle some fuselage masters. But that another story. Cheers Cees
