  1. Yess, itโ€™s done! good show mate, what a fantastic build. Easily your best to date. Oh eh, sorry for causing this build.๐Ÿ˜Š Cees
  2. Some more work. Modifying the Revell outerwings is not easy. Tamiya ones would be better. Does anyone have some in the sparesbox? The Tamiya slats have been glued together. Also clearly to be seen is that the Revell rear fuselage can be easily modified forvthe bigger Spey exhaust. These plastic rings are 30 mm in diameter.
  3. Today the Revell F-4G arrived, and I wasted no time to work on it. This kit is a better option than the F, as it has both slotted an unslotted tailplanes. The fuselage parts have been glued together. And the fintop needs reshaping. Work has also been done to the wings by cutting away the ailerons. Learning from the FGR2 build I have added the upperwing fairings taken from the Tamiya kit. I also cut away some of the stiffening web that prevented the fitting of the engines in the previous build. You live and learn. This model will have deployed slats and I am glad I saved all the bits from the previous project as I have cut the slats from the Tamiya wings.
  4. Here we go again. After finishing the lengthy FGR-2 kitbash last week, I wanted to do another build of a British Phantom. A RN FG-1 this time using only the Revell kit. As I still had the remains of the Tamiya and Revell kits, including the forward fuselage of the Revell F-4F, this gives me a good starting point. IMHO the Revell kit is more suitable to convert into the Spey powered aircraft. This should be a quicker way to build this Phabulous aircraft ( famous last words). I also had the Avionix cockpitset handy so that will be adapted to suit. Let's see how this turns out shall we?
  5. I canโ€™t Peter, itโ€™s finished.๐Ÿ˜
  6. Lovely, what is your opinion regarding Mission Models paint? Does it spray well and can it be brushpainted with good coverage?
  7. Finally done and sorted. Always liked the British brute power of the camouflaged Phantoms. Due to the Rolls-Royce Spey engined the rear fuselage differed massively compared to the contempary F-4J. As there is no kit the only solution is to scratchbuild. Using Frank Mitchell's articles I found out that I am bad at copying others work. I noticed that the Revell kit has better lines at the rear, so cutting up the fuselages of both kits was in order. The Tamiya forward fuselage was grafted on the Revell rear fuselage which went surprisingly easy. The wings are mostly Revell with Tamiya outerwings. Canopies by Aerocraft. Took about three years but was a lot of fun. I plan to do a RN FG-1 with the long nosewheelleg. So if anyone has a spare early Revell shortnose kit laying around?
  8. Almost finished. I nearly fouled it up in sight of the finishline. Instead of flat clear I accidentally sprayed flat base on the underside. Luckily I spotted the mistake soon but not after a large area looked like it had snowed under. I managed to clean it up but had to break off the tanks and missilepylons. Nearly put my size 43 on it. But common sense prevailed. This time flat clear was applied and the majority of the pylons refitted bar the Sidewinders, these need some corrective work. The FOD-guards were fitted as well. With luck this three year project will be finished tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
  9. Don't know what this small window is, but looks good. Oh those small details.
  10. As I am the king of bad pics, almost finished bar a flat coat and small bits.
  11. The dreaded yellow dotted lines, but it went well. Needs some touching up here and there.
  12. Some more work done. The ventral tank has been fitted, I like jets to have their bellies full. And checking the canopies if the camo match up a bit. Next to mask and paint the yellow dotted lines. Not something I am looking forward to.
