  1. It's dirty! I love it! Nice job. I got a lot of side glances for my dirt ball spitfire last year at the show. But that's how they need to look. IMO. Is the seatbelt supposed to levitate like that?!?
  2. I did too. But mine was the log carrier, and red.
  3. European Honda RC 30's had oval pistons. Better spread for the valves, better breathing. But probably poor ring life, so the more litigious US market got the standard round pistons. Rumor has it that the 1000 horsepower (qualifying engines only) V6 F1 twin turbo engines had oval pistons as well. Honda has never confirmed this. Or the rumored ceramic block same engine may have had. Everything (so they say) they do is done with an eye on improving their knowledge for making better consumer products. Also, faster race machines. So they try out a lot of weird idea's. It's how they train their engineers. They built a GP bike with the fuel tank under the engine, for better center of gravity. Seems like a great idea, but the riders hated it. It's why their initial Hybrid F1 engines were so bad. They wanted to do it their way. But the learning curve wasn't fast enough for Mclaren. Now, that engine has given Redbull 3 constructors championships.
  4. Found a set of the wheels on eBay. The loony wants close to $700 dollars for them. I don't think so.
  5. Guy at the kit show was selling one of these with all the metal goodies. $100 bucks. Kicking myself now, that should have been a no brainer purchase. Looks like it is coming along nicely.
  6. I don't have a LHS, unless you count the R/C car shop that has a tiny model corner. I had a model train shop that I could walk to, until a family tragedy put them out of buisiness. After that the closest was about a thirty minute drive as well. And another 30 to the next one. Which was bigger. So that was my Saturday afternoon, go hang out at the model shops. They are more expensive than online, but keeping them in business means you can get stuff if you need to in a short time, so I always bought some things from them. Just my
  7. Shore trooper. Kinda ignored these when they were readily available here, cause the movie is just sort of meh. And they seemed weird to me at the time. So of course the supply dries up and then I really want one. So I had to get it from Japan. The moral of the story, It's never too late to pay more for something you didn't want when it was cheap and easy to get.
  8. Almost bought one of these for myself. Interested to see it go together.
  9. I never feel bad about unfinished projects when I see your bench.
  10. I got mine from Enabler Brothers for about half that. Lightning deals for the win. And, of course I bought the little one two...
  11. Haha, That blue is a selling point for me. Funny how peoples tastes vary so much. I think that's the last dying vestige of the old country based racing colors used in F1. Other than, of course, Ferrari. I wonder if they would have dropped their national color if it wasn't so flashy.
  12. I never liked that car. I should, but I just don't. I'm going to stick With Tamiya and now NuNu/Beemax for my 1/12 kits. I was looking for an early Lotus at the last kit collector show. I should have bought the Jackie Stewart Tyrell that was there, but it likely will be there next time. I won't be buying it either. Those "flounder" style open cars from the 70's are a favorite of mine. So they are always tempting. I have two MFH kits and both have left me somewhat disappointed. I have not built either, and I may get round to the 1/20 Force India F1 car someday. The other is 1/43 and I don't think they designed it to be assembled. But it looks pretty in the box.
  13. Just finished this. Very good. A bit hard to slog through in places, but very interesting overall.
  14. Well you could always make it into a hot tub for all your unpainted figures if it goes sideways...
  15. I just found this on spot model. Ack! https://www.spotmodel.com/product_info.php?products_id=61706#image5 More money to spend... And it's aircraft adjacent. haha. Matra built missiles and bomb's.
  16. I don't know. I have many, as I am sure we all do. I just watched an interview with Bernie Eccelstone on youtube showing off his collection of historic Brabhams. So maybe the Tamiya BT44B? I have a 1/20 Jordan 191 I started years ago that I play with once in a while. The two Porsche's I was showing off after market parts for. A box full of 1/43 kits. Too many choices. Likely I won't be able to seriously work on a car till some of the other stuff sitting around half built gets finished.
  17. To be fair, he was working from the original Viper, which only ever looked good in black because you couldn't see all the horrible gaps in the panel fit and the awful intakes and vents. So we should cut him some slack. It's no where near as nice as the real thing. And only Elan Musk can afford one of those now. So it's the next best thing.
  18. It does have a bit of that. But that's true of most 60's sports cars. If I'm not mistaken, Pete Brock, who was one of if not the only designer of this car worked on the Dodge Viper coupe. Look at one in blue, with the white stripe's and it pretty evident he had a hand in it's design.
  19. Fuck, now I want to build a car! Like I need another project.
  20. Beauty. Looks cool with the hood off as well. 👍
  21. It's pretty slick. Especially the Buffalo display. 👍
  22. Eduard P-39 cockpit. Stuff has dried. cured. set up. I only use liquid cement styrene to styrene, which means things need to sit and wait. I bought the Eduard 3D printed seat. It does not look like the seat the kit comes with, which represents the metal style. The printed seat is the composite style, which is not Bakelite, but is sort of a bad epoxy brown color just like bakelite. The kit metal seat is fine, no real need to replace it but I did it anyway. Looking at it in place though, it doesn't sit as well as the kit seat. At which point I realized that the mount behind it isn't included. So that was the next scratch build project. Next I became aware that this plane has no radio. Easy. But what does the radio deck look like without it? The inter webs were not helpful. So I searched WW2 radio mounts. Found some photos and made this. I had bought some colored styrene without realizing it was transparent as well... And installed.
  23. If that is the case I wonder if they are using something other than styrene? Maybe PETG. Which doesn't sand well.
  24. You need finer sand paper then. Like 400 grit and then smooth with 600. The maybe polish the edge with really fine paper if it's visable. Slow. I said it was slow. lol
  25. One thing I should have mentioned. I would be interested in an Atlantic scheme Avenger. Very different look from the non spec blue usually covering them. I plan to build a Wildcat in this scheme someday.
