  1. I think your finish choices represent the actual vehicle well. I know for a fact that the paint jobs on these race cars were not a super high gloss show car finishes. But that's the current trend. Same as the perfect, crystal clear canopies we all work so hard for. That are not accurate either. It's what the current trend is. I can forgive both, as I do love a crystal canopy, or a glossy finish. And I am guilty of both!
  2. Idk if it would look right in 1/20, as I have yet to try it, but Origami paper is very convincing on smaller scale vehicles. They do look far better than decals ever would.
  3. It's beautiful. Well done Doc. The seat belt material is out of scale, to my eye. But that's just me.
  4. Certainly less forgiving. And in general, no weathering to save the day. Also, as the bar has risen, at least in my local shows, the shiny, full polish and waxed gloss finish is a must to be seriously considered.
  5. Some of the HGW products say "Tested on Humans" I would buy them just for the sense of humor. Also, I am one of the humans, and their stuff always makes me feel tested...
  6. Welcome newbie! nice Hurri's. I have a few of these (hands up who's surprised) in the stash...
  7. I love HGW seatbelts but the fact that they are only printed on one side really bothers me. But they are kinda the only game in town. Photo etch belts really don't make the grade, IMO, beyond 1/48 scale. And even then they need some finessing.
  8. Me too. lmao.
  9. Update. Most of the stuff is painted. Multi finish surface is new for me, and a pain in the ass, but I like the effects. Panel contrast looks really pronounced in photo's, much less so in person. Wing is ready to go, after I wipe off the last bit of wash from the underside. German style spiral on this one, hand painted. Took three tries. I know the decal would have wadded itself up before it ever reached the part so... Plus all the other bits. And it all still needs the wash rubbed down. And the base getting glued together. ICM Marsdon mat.
  10. The best part of that photo is the crazy ass dog hanging out of the prowlers window.
  11. Fuse assembled, Shiny black primer. Wing fits so well I am going to paint it separately to save some masking, as painted wing, natural metal fuselage.
  12. Right, but Ford wasn't building every car by himself... I could't do this. I have multiple projects going all at once, but they are always different subjects because my adhd won't let me stay on one thing too long. Or maybe it''s the practicality of some things need to sit and dry/cure before I f' them up be being impatient, so I need another something to poke at.
  13. Eduard 1/72 scale P-51D-10. Fit so far is excellent, as good as the little 109's. Lots of cockpit painting to get done from jump. but now things are coming together.
  14. Very nice. Idk if that black slab underneath is mean't to be a base, but if it is, way too small. And never align the tracks with the edge.
  15. Yeah those etched blades are very cool
  16. Read a story (No idea where now) That a particular pilot would make his right seater kneel in the seat and look out the back for sneaky Huns all the way back from a mission. These were still vulnerable to getting bounced if they allowed it. So one set of eyes forward, the other watching their 6. All the way home.
  17. Should have said just like models of real vehicles.
  18. They are pretty nice. I built a few Of the Fine Molds also. They were nice kits too. Funny thing, to me anyway, is that Fine Molds and Bandai disagree on the size of these various Studio scale models they referenced. Just like models of real objects.
  19. 1/72 Eduard P-51D-10 from the 8th AF twin pack, which allows you to build a D-5 and a D-10 And a 1/72 Bandai Tie Advanced. And not visible in the back somewhere the 1/48 Eduard P-39 Wood grain for the mustang floor, waiting for it to dry before I add the black tar overcoat. And the chiclet sized life raft pack for the seat back. If thats what that is. Idk, but Eduard doesn't give you one, unless you but a printed seat. I can make my own. Epoxy putty. waiting for the little white buttons.
  20. The Eduard baby 109's are addictive little kits. if you can see them. I have a few tips if you are interested.
  21. I liked this kit so much, I bought a second one.
  22. I get it. I'm just saying I appreciate all size scale models. And more models to look at would be better. Whatever the reason, we have less showing up. It seems to me. Based on my completely seat of the pants scientific measurements.
  23. It is, more or less. This is the only forum I post at, and I build all different scales. Frankly I don't see a lot of traffic here anymore so it seems like posting anything model related should be welcome. Just my thoughts.
