Is this something that can be purchased at Michaels? Edited due to horrible grammar

Thanks Dave. I'll be sure to check them out.

My brushes are starting to show their age. Anyone use the Vallejo Kolinsky Tajmir line? I use enamels. Any opinions or other recommendations? As a former mechanic, I am not afraid to spend money on my tools.

Looking for some ideas to make rubber band tracks more realistic
Paulster replied to BradG's topic in Modelling Discussion
I have found that enamels work best. Less chance of flaking off. I mix 50/50 black and rust for a base coat, rust wash, some rust Mig pigments then highlight with silver. The sag can a chore if you don't have enough slack in the track lengths. Super glueing the the track on top of each road wheel (or return roller) from the 11 to 1 o'clock position should give you the sag you need. Check out my IDF M60A1 Blazer in the completed builds forum. While the tracks are no award winners, I was happy with the results considering what I had to start with. -
Thanks for the props gentleman (and Mikester). Will get it finished up and do a touch more work on the T/C and post a couple of more shots.

Well.......almost done. This my AMS relief build. Forgot a couple of things until I put it in front of a Macro. Like the inside of the barrel, a little pigment on the outside end of same barrel. White glue lens on the periscopes. This is the Academy offering. Except for antenna, all oob. Show's of my lack of figure painting skills. But I'm not going to get any better unless I keep hacking at it. Vinyl tracks were wadded into a ball. Had to pin them straight onto a piece of styrofoam and heat them with SWMBO's hair dryer for about 40 minutes. Still not perfect, but thats as good as their going to get. I found I used wrong shade of Sinai Grey. Also learned that when useing the grenade launchers, glue them first, then the reactive armor blocks. The launchers wont be 90 degress to the ground. I used Tamiya thick and thin glue to attach them, so their not moving. Sanding the 2 piece barrel without losing too much detail was tedious but I was happy. And of course both .50 cal. barrels were broken off. 30 minutes of my life I'll never get re-attaching them.

Looks sweet. Hope they have plans for an AMX-13.

I also collect military weapons. If I don't plan on shooting it, I don't buy it. I plan on building every model I buy. Won't live long enough, but that's my plan.

YES! Max Immelman and Manfred von Richthofen figures
Paulster replied to JeroenPeters's topic in Modelling Discussion
You and me both brother, I'd just be wasting my money and destroying beautiful figures. -
I also, as Chris mentioned, get the lint free painters rags at either Lowes or Home Depot. While nothing is 100% lint free, including mil-spec canopy wipes, these painters rags seem to me to be the best that are available to the general public at a reasonable price. $15ish a box and it'll last me a few years.

I am a user of the Blue Shop towel. Much less "fuzzy" than regular Scott towels (I call all paper towels "Scott"). Regular "Q" tips of any brand never gets near one of my builds. I use the Tamiya or Mr. Hobby mini swabs. For the regular swabs I use the long wooden stick medical swabs. Very tightly spun on. I get them from a online gun parts and supplies store called Brownells. Last time I bought them it was like $13 for 10 packs of 100. Only way they sell them is either by the 500 or 1000 pack . I have a few distractions. Boob tube can hinder progress. But surround sound is a must. Ronnie guards my beer locker. Moe, Larry, Curly, Marilyn and John got my back. -

I store the rest of the goodies in 2, 4 drawer cabinets. I like airbrushes. -
SWMBO has allowed me to claim the garage as my own. As soon as I finish her cd cabinet and hang up the new doors she says I can insulate and put a/c and heat in there. Especially a/c. It gets hot here. Here's the 5 cent tour. I built the bench on the fly with no plans. Just made it to fit me. I keep my most used items close at hand.

Wanna hear something funny Mike? Could've swore I read an armor kit review written by you. -
Here's (only?) the older Tamiya molding. Used the Eduards pe set and Model Kasten tracks. Tracks are 96 links per side. 4 pieces per for a total of 768 parts for the tracks. I used 94 links the first, and as you can see you could almost tune it like a guitar. The last picture shows the 96 link per side trakes. As per my normal practice, enamels are poisen of choice. From what I could gather, Japanese armor was field applied by brush. Could be wrong. This was my first use of "Silly Putty" for paint mask. Keeped weathering to a minimum as most Nippon armor was not long for the worl.
