A decent enough beginner collection, I'd say. it shows promise, in the same sort of a way a budding 9 year old little leaguer shows promise.

Pfft. You guys are amateurs.

IBG models PZL P.11c. Finished
Clunkmeister replied to Clunkmeister's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
haha. Thanks Gazz. If you can picture the plane in NMF with yellow wings, a speed ring on the engine, or better tet a bumped cowl like a Stinson SR-8 with an open hub prop, followed by wheel spats, you begin to see the beauty of the design. It's actually not an ugly airplane. The classic gull wing is pure winged nirvana, and either a speed ring or an open radial would smarten this ship right up. Polish khaki is one of those colors that just sucks in light and destroys it, so that's not the best way to be able to judge the beauty of a design. -
Tamiya P-51D, easy bake & shake.
Clunkmeister replied to 1to1scale's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Yep, me too. I'm following this one with serious interest. I remeber "chromed" plastic on model cars and truck kits from the 70s, and the big plastic bare spot that always was present after the parts were cut off the sprues. When this kit came out, I thought it was a typical Tamiya toy gimmick. So we'll see in real time. Build on, Sir! -

I think it’s a beautiful aircraft, designed to fly and fight. Her coloration makes her unappealing, but her lines show her as a stout quarter horse. I don’t think I’d want to meet her in an He.51 -

I’m not sure it looks much like the guy. It looks pretty generic European.

I’ve never seen one of these built before. Do they build OK or are they toylike? -
ICM's new 32nd scale Stearman PT-17/N2S-3 Kaydet

You and me both. I’d also love to see a Stieglitz in 1/32 IM as well. That’s a seriously classic design. -

Questions re Polish F-16 single seater
Clunkmeister replied to Lothar's topic in Modelling Discussion
My two seater will be the Academy kit of course, and I'm going to probably use the GT mouth for it, simply because of very minor shape issues. Add a couple of seats, and I should be good to go. From what everyone's said, a seat is a very good idea on the Tamiya kit as well. Just so much better detail in resin compared to plastic and it's an amazingly prominent part on the F-16. Smitty's a very knowlegeable F-16 guy. That I know. -
ICM's new 32nd scale Stearman PT-17/N2S-3 Kaydet

Oh boy!! It appears that ICM and a few otgher companies are slowly working their way through Silver Wings entire catalog. -
Yep, we're just going to close this down y'all. We don't want it to descend. It's been hashed and rehashed, and there are plenty of places to continue to do so. We have members of both sites here and everyone gets along, because we're all friends here. This ain't punishment, it's crowd control. Except for one or two minor things, I'm going to leave the comments up as is the custom here, and if anyone has any questions or complaints, my PM is always open, I'll always respond, and I'll always explain my resoning and listen to arguements both ways. NOTHING is ever meant as punishment or to degrade if it's coming from me, and once everything calms down, I may open it up again as is the custom. Thanks, So, without further adieu,.... OK, it’s been a few hours and hopefully we’ve calmed down. Let’s not rehash the same stuff over and over. Despite what their website tells you, I can absolutely, 100%, without the shadow of any doubt, tell y’all that WNW ist kaput. Let’s leave that alone. They ain’t returning, although some sprues might eventually make a return under another name. Personally, I pray for the guys and gals who poured their hearts and souls into the place to give us arguably the best kits the world had ever seen. So let’s keep it cool, clean, and refrain from insinuation here. And this is coming from a guy who once played fast and loose with comments, trying to be some model industry social justice warrior.

The good thing is that we don't have the bad ones here. They were banned a very long time ago, so that means we can and must continue to have an easy going and rational discussion about the subjects at hand. They have their way of running their show, and we have ours. Their style is suitable to their mindset, as is the way in which they handle threads. That's their prerogative. This one is a true punch in the gut. I couldn't care less about plastic bits and pieces. They're nice and were the reason for WNW's success, and will eventually pop up again, most likely issued by one of the Chinese manufacturers, but right now, Richard and his Merry Crew are out of work after putting their hearts and souls into making that Company the envy of the modelling world. Their passion and drive will find a home, that I know for sure. But in the meantime, lets just keep them and their health and welfare, in our thoughts and prayers.

It’s over guys. This news IS confirmed. There is ZERO ambiguity here. As is said when reality hits, “This is not a drill”. Please keep the bunch who made WNW what it was in your thoughts and prayers. To Richard and the guys, I hope the setback is only temporary and new, greener paths quickly open for you.

Lothar. That's the nicest 109 I've seen in a long time. The paint sure sets it off. Did you use the AMUR Reaver nose set for it? -

thanks Lothar. It's a fun build. All mistakes are mine alone. But I will warn you that I have several grey jets that keep winking at me. Tamiya F-15E and 16CJ, Acadamy SUFA, Trumpter Mig-29K and 29A, and Kinetic multi kit for F-18A/B. So one of these days I'll need to build something grey and boring... -

It was actually a very easy fix. Just made sure the blue was completely dry, then make a couple of VERY light passes with the khaki, letting it dry between coats. Then hit it with the big one. Simple dimple. I think bigger problems often happen when someone panics and tries to wipe it off. -
