  1. OK, first order of business was to clean up the entrants list. There were three people entered twice due to my own errors, they were Bill_S, Recon, and Jeff. my bad, sorry. Here’s a before and after pic: Before: After:
  2. I’ll probably end up with Victory in 1/64, if for no other reason than to support Chris and Jim Chris designed it, and Jim built he test model and developed the book. I’ve stated publicly before that I’ll buy everything Chris brings out in 1/64, if for no other reason than to support his Company, Vanguard Models. I’ll be buying his Duchess of Kingston as well. I’ll be ah they’re eye wateringly expensive, but when you realize the year+ It takes to build one, and the superb quality of he raw materials he uses, they’re quite inexpensive.
  3. 1/64 is the perfect Man-O-War scale for me. Perfect size, big enough for a fishing boat, cutter, or whaler, small enough for a 36 Gun frigate. I have a 74, the Bellerophon in 1/72, but I’d prefer 1/64.
  4. I’m actually looking for the binnacle, Mike. That certainly looks like a hatchway ahead of the wheel, where a lighted binnacle would logically be.
  5. I need to plan a bit with Blacken-it. Well, first, I need to buy some, no idea where to get it. I have some nice resin 4 pounders on Speedy, and Flirt us s similar. Swivels as well. Sweet stuff. A whole nevrealm in modeling, one that seriously lights my fire, but I can’t go too long on it at one time, I burn out.
  6. As I tell all my friends when celebrating,.... do zdrowia Mr Sliwinski across the street said that to me every year. It took me 45 years to actually learn how to spell it properly. Christmas memories from childhood are those which never, ever leave.
  7. Merry Christmas to all and as I said above, I wish you all good heath and a great year.
  8. Mike, School me on sails. I’m like most, I tend to forego sails because they usually look out of scale. I WILL do sails on fore and aft rigged fishing boats though. I have a Fifie and Zulu Scottish coastal fishing boats in 1/64 all keyed up ready to go as my next wooden ships after Speedy gets finished.
  9. I bought the P-38 in 1/48 as well. It’s a nice little kit.
  10. Mike, that’s one sweetheart, and definitely a LARGE scale model. I don’t think there’s a person around who doesn’t appreciate the lines of a trim little brig. The covered Quarterdeck looks unique. The crowsfeet and the white anti fouling (no copper) hull date this, when? 1780 or so?
  11. You remember when CBC tried to destroy his reputation? And they did exactly the same thing to Bomber Command and the 8th AF.
  12. I’ll also be doing Billy Bishop’s ride. A true Canadian hero.
  13. 2020 must be the craziest year we’ve seen for 100 years when the Spanish Flu infected the World. So we did a bunch of building. I’d love to hear what y’all have to say about a “model of the year”. Aircraft or Armor, as long as it was a new release for 2020, it’s eligible. So tell us your pick. My personal pick is very, very easy and involved absolutely no thinking: the IBG Models PZL P.11c. It is flawless. Absolutely flawless. The detail is out of this world, and the parts fit perfectly. Plus, it’s a model of an overlooked, under appreciated aircraft. So there’s 1 for the PZL. Now let’s hear y’all.
  14. Hubert said it perfectly. There are reasons why some of us put more than one gift in here. Because there are those of us who understand that there are times in all our lives where we have tough times. 2020 has been extremely hard on everyone. An example: Both Hubert and I own businesses, and both of us have been deeply hurt by the scourge that has invaded our lands. We BOTH have seen and felt that agony of seeing trusted colleagues fall to this scourge, and yet we all continue. This is a time of Joy. It's a time of giving, and it's a time of family and friends. Let's make this happen folks, let's have fun. I set the rules to admit only active members in order to prevent anyone from waltzing in and helping themselves. Y'all are family, so let's all partake. Has the scourge taken your job away? no problem, just enter, PLEASE. If nothing else, let's enjoy this time of year, and without getting all Christian on you, let's enjoy the great joy this season can offer.
  15. Jeff, you don't need to give to enter. So go for it!!
  16. Tony, if you ever want to build a Dauntless, I have a ready supply. LMAO! Just one of each version, actually.
  17. C’mon guys, this raffle is looking mighty freaking lame. We need more participants. There are some nice gifts up there.
  18. Ugh! I’m lucky and ordered mine a year and a half ago. Got it over a year ago, and am I glad I did. There’s no way on earth I could swing it now.
  19. I kept thinking Texas distance, but Obrnice to Most is less than 6km. Hopefully they find a suitable warehouse close by. It sounds like the fire started on the second floor where the Sprue were stored. Bad electrical wiring. The story that can and does happen everywhere
