  1. Chipping is good, when done in a way that follows reason. Wingwalk areas seem pristine, yet just regular airframe areas are tore to pieces. I can appreciate the effort a person puts into a build, and I'm probably the worst offender of all when it comes to failing to break up monotony of color, but I'd rather have to little modulation than too much.
  2. Tony, I've always said that you never see a GOOD build on a Thud at the local shows. They all seem to look like they were done by a 5 year old and painted with a toothbrush.
  3. Smitty, that's looking great! Everybody LOVES a Thud. I'm so blown away by this! Smitty, as you and Tony both know, I have a two seater all teed up to be built as either an F or a G, I'm just not sure which version yet. I somehow ended up with both Super Sets from Gary, along with all the Wild Weasel armament he sells, but I had my heart set on a NMF bird and the G only flew in standard SEA camo. I still need an Aires cockpit yet and probably a better burner can, but other than that I could be full steam ahead as well. I'm really looking forward to seeing the original Belle and the Belle ll come to life here. Rock On, Man!!
  4. A Caucasian Ovcharka, or Caucasian Sheepdog. Very loyal, loving and protective of family, but need to be firmly and properly trained. Like the Great Pyrenees like my son raises, they are super aloof and independent, super loving of their family, and brutal towards intruders. Thgey need room to run, and naturally will patrol an area for threats. With coyotes, cougars, bobcats, wild hogs, and other predators quite rampant in my area, a dog like this is highly valued.
  5. Martin, you should love these big old babies. You’re a sucker for big dogs
  6. I need a dog. We have some open space, over three acres, and we are starting to get some intruders sneaking around, jumping 6 ft high fences, etc., so maybe a nice puppy who will keep Joy and I safe while loving us like few dogs can. I have some experience with this breed... there are none better.
  7. The Bash Brothers. Martin and Smitty.
  8. The only builds I finish these days are builds I do for others :/ Well, I DID do the P.11C last year
  9. It appears to me that I he stick is indeed offset go port, so yes, there must be a second jumpseat available. So, from what I can see is the power controls below the fuel tank selector panel on the port side, magneto selectors on the starboard did are above a Bosch Spark booster, a fire extinguisher bracket on the firewall, and I’m still trying to figure out the black ball lever hanging under the cross tube/torque tube. Could it be the clutch control for the inertia starter? On second thought, it’s probably the wheel brakes. I expect it’ll be cable or rod actuated, just like a Model A Ford car. That makes more sense. The starter engage is probably up On top behind the engine with the hand crank. A very simple cockpit assembly, and pretty much stage of the art for 1929. Quite the basic panel, but RNAV wasn’t quite in vogue yet.
  10. Mike, this picture is pure gold! So far this is the only picture I have of the entire cockpit area and it at least gives me some information to work on.
  11. I’ve set a goal for myself and that’s to have this in Vegas next year. Not sure if it’s doable, but we’ll try.
  12. Liker we’ve talked about before, the very last thing I’d expect to see at 7500 ft, or 11000 ft, never mind 15,000 ft is a helicopter. That’s tube sucking altitude and as far as I knew, the very last thing on a 206 would be oxygen. Of course, you’re only there for a few minutes, but still, yikes! My question is,.... did you actually make it there?
  13. I’ve just come to the conclusion that we’re all a bunch of over the hill old blokes. One hard winter would cut our population by a third, I fear.
  14. Great job on that one. This kit is truly one of the nicest builds I've done in a very long time. It's complicated like a WNW kit, but goes together effortlessly. The only real effort I had to put in was many applications of Micro Sol which graduated to Solvaset to ensure the decals settled down properly into the corrugations. I have a tough time weathering solid colors like what's used on the P.11C, but you seem to have pulled it off nicely.
  15. If you’re going to use Leveling Thinner , add Thinner u til a paint splashwith nicely move down the side of your Dixie cup. Not so thin that it just splashes down, and not so thick that it barely moves. That consistency works great for me.
  16. You were a true inspiration to this child of the time, Sir!
  17. That looks great so far. I have them both and thought I’d do the bubbletop wide open, and the car door all closed up. I’ve seen several finished builds in person and they all look super impressive in person. After saying all that, now I’m staring at my roughed in MDC kit and thinking I could finish that one in a weekend.... Im looking forward to seeing this done! Ernie
  18. Tom, did you do a Superfortress or a Washington when you built it?
  19. I'm surprised at the CAM ones as well, Tony. Have you reached out to the company and see what they say? It almost looks like you got the 1/48 version, not 1/32.
  20. Then with my lovely lady, and Merry Christmas, by the way.
  21. OK, I’ll bite. This is the everyday me.
  22. Mr. Leveling Thinner is a retarder. I use it in everything, and it’s a magic combination. Use through your airbrush and it’ll take your finishing from great to World Class.
