  1. I'll add to that irony ... Frontline are selling the Revell boxing of the Dragon for $150 ... They are selling Dragons most recent boxing of the C-7 for $130 Ern ... That instruction sheet itself is now legendary ... It came on the first edition/release of the C-7 kit ... all over the place like a mad woman's breakfast ... You are quite correct in that Brett Greens "Erata" download also became legendary at the same time. One thing about Dragon that you can give them credit for - and other large production manufacturers should take note of ... when the "community" draws their attention to an error (shape, panel lines, rivets etc) ... they'll usually have a good crack at fixing the issue! ... such was the effort with the instruction sheet for the Bf.110 and therefore subsequent boxings of variants - and indeed, re-releases of the C-7 had the amended sheet. It is always good to refer to the erata sheet, though ... just in case you've snagged and earlier edition from somewhere ... Revell's instructions for the kit, I believe, have been checked and certified as "ok" by the community. Of course one particular episode in Dragons history where feedback was completely ignored was with their P.51-D ... Maybe they saw the Tamiya and ZM offerings and thought the effort wasn't worth the competition? Rog
  2. Sooooo ... ... Obviously not Hasegawa kits only?!?!? ... ANYTHING goes as long as what? ... It's completed in a 6 week period? Rog
  3. I'm pretty sure I have that boxing ... a few other Tamiya Tigers also ... at least one is a paint mule these days! Rog
  4. IF it has indeed got Magic Track (too little baggies with links inside - so labeled) then yes ... $67 USD would be pretty reasonable with shipping included. Does it have additional photos? ... It may also include PE grills and wire for the tow cable - I pulled mine from the stash to have a dekko and it's the DS track version - two cream-yellow strips of rubber!! (I'm going with AM on that one so I'm not concerned) ... BUT it doesn't have the turned metal barrel in-box. Rog
  5. Ok guys ... A bit of an update because So far you've been the main info sources ... - F/A-18.A Hornet ... Well this one turned out easy (thanks Smitty!)... after looking around for a couple of weeks on e-Bay, one of the local hobby retailers advised that his supplier was expecting a shipment ... Aussie decals included ... I ordered 2 just in case. Here now! - F/A-18.B Hornet ... Well ... shot myself in the foot on THIS one!! ... Lucky Model had the C/D Kinetic rebox on sale when I first started looking ... and Bam! I go to get one later once I know what I'm doing - no stock ... typical ... All is not lost though, says the hobby suppler - because Academy re-pop stuff every couple of years and the B is due ... yeah?? - so's Christmas ... Getting proactive here - I've already got the vertical Stabilisers for a B in one of the A kit's I just bought, right ... I just need a twin 'pit ... so a D will do nicely thanks! ... I'll grab one of those in the next week or so. If the innards in the 'pit are a crap-ton different, theres the wolfpack or Avionix correction ... some RAAF B decals and she'll be right mate! - A-4.G Skyhawk ... Trumpy's E kit will do nicely as the only differences, so I'm told, are in the innards!! ... Buy some RAAF / RAN decals and away we go! - F/A-18.F and G ... The Trumpy kits!! Have both now ... Decals ... It was looking bad there for a while ... DN Models (thank you Carl!!) said they'd be up for it if I could show them what I wanted ... I emailed Ronin Grapics and asked for their masters to pass on to DN Models ... of course the answer was NO - they're licensed ... BUT the upshot is that Ronin are doing a reprint now ... and in 3 weeks I can purchase Decals!!! Yippee! I HAVE QUESTIONS!! I'm getting some GT Resin intakes (I hope!!) ... any good? Weapons / ordinance systems / load outs for RAAF kites ... anyone know whether I've got the right gear in box or if I need to shop around for AM? Looks like we can get cracking on that joint build afterward Ern Rog
  6. Freaking Pe.2!! .. ICM pumped out a good one in 1/48 ... Rog
  7. I'll send some pics of my Dragon Tiger kit on the weekend so you'll know what you're chasing. Rog
  8. Yeah I forgot to mention that one! ... The one time a box choc full of plastic will disappoint! Rog
  9. As stated above ... Tamiya for cost, reasonably accurate outline and level of detail ... pretty good bang for buck ... needs AM individual track links on most kits - but does actually have them in at least one tiger kit ... Tamiya zimmerit is pretty meh so if that’s important look elsewhere ... things have sure moved on ... Dragon was THE go-to for anything Wehrmacht at one point ... and still produces good gear ... IF you can find a zimmerit tiger with Magic Track look no further - you’ve hit gold!! Magic Track was their coolest product EVER and why they reverted to DS rubber bands I’ll never know. To be fair ... DS will scrub up alright - but it still is what it is - rubber bands!! ... if you’ve found that zimmerit tiger with Magic Track you may have also ended up with some nice PE grills and a turned aluminium barrel ... making your kit the one stop shop - have fun!! I believe the RFM, AFV and other post Dragon Tigers are decent too ... but for everything you listed ... and more!!! ... I’d chase down a moulded zimmerit Dragon kit! Rog
  10. Well ... If the Start date is 2-3 weeks it give me time to prepare ... I just don't know if I have the AM to hand ... EDIT * I have brass barrels for my Fw.190's!!! * ... So I should be a goer!! I HAS to be Hase' yeah?? Rog
  11. Ahh ... ok ... well you can still do one if you like with what's available ... and ... I believe Academy do regular repops! Meanwhile I messaged DN Models and they're willing to assist so thats good ... Who knows?, I might be able to drop the cost with a batch order if I can get anyone interested ... Rog
  12. Ha ha ha ha ... ha ... get out! Rog
  13. If you're looking for this one a wee bit cheaper ... Frontline has it for $150 with free domestic shipping to your door ... less than O/S purchase plus shipping. https://www.frontlinehobbies.com.au/revell-1-32-messerschmitt-bf110-c-7 Rog
  14. Carl ... Ok ... so what is a "Legacy Hornet" ??? ... never heard of them so are they a special type? If you're worried about making a 'B' ... you can do what I was advised ... grab a D and use that U-Beaut conversion set with the early vertical stabs?? I'll message DN Models and see what sort of response I get. Rog
  15. THAT looks cool ... clipped wings and all ... Getting completely nerdified here but ... wouldn't there be a change of wing panel lines for Mk.IIa to Mk.Vb also?? It cannot be just as simple as adding a blister and a pair of barrels ... surely?? ... I mean the modelling gods just don't DO that!! E - Wing?? ... there are way too many variations!! I wish Edgar Brooks had published a book!! Rog
  16. Yep ... I believe it comes from the same era as their Beaufighter, Mosquito etc (60's??) ... been repoped that many time the moulds have mutated ... They also did a G-4 which was about as much fun ... challenging ... B%$# busting painful to put together as the C-4. Rog
  17. Carl ... I cannot find any decals (RAAF) for the F or G Super Hornets ... Ronin used to make some but ceased because they weren't getting enough sales ... I can probably get 1/48 if you can do the upscaling thing ... I would need a set for the F and the G ... How would you like to proceed? I can get some A-4 RAN decals easy enough and some for a F/A-18.B - I shouldn't have balked on buying that B kit from you!! ... If I can get a D kit and the B resin cockpit - I can steal the D canopy throw in my A ... and maybe flog it off as a buildable C (san's decals) ... Rog
  18. Put the rest aside ... Get the Dragon ... er Revell kit and Johns (AIMS) G-4 conversion ... time for some night action!! Rog
  19. Meanest??? ... so many tanks ... so little time ... I'd go with original Tiger - scared the pants of more than a few. My all time FAVOURITE would have to be the Panzer.III with a 50mm L.60 (Ausf.J-M) ... great little all rounder!! Rog
  20. Mmmmm ... never heard of AML, Carl ... got a linky? ... the Revell Mk.II - apart from its clunky appearance - is already half a Mk.V anyway ... In fact you actually need a Barracuda correction set to build the Mk.II Rog
  21. Hey Hang-about!! ... Not necessarily so!!! Revell originally made a DOG of a Bf.110 C-4 kit ... I know ... because I tried (and utterly failed) to make that son of a &^%$# fit ... Please DO be careful before purchasing ... make sure its the new release C-2/C-7 kit ... THAT one shall the Dragon rebox be!! Rog
  22. Now that's an entire stash in one hit!! Rog
  23. As above there is only 1 P.47 Razorback available ... thats the Trumpy one ... I ALWAYS go for brass barrels for anything exposed and there are 8 lovely .50cal blast tubes on this puppy ... (Just an aside here ... I think this A/C is Totally underrated. I must admit to being a Typhoon fan with the 20mm's, rockets and all but the P.47 was a flying tank!) ... After reading the mixed reviews on each P.47 kit - I actually preferred the Trumpeter kit to the Hasegawa and have a bubble top D as a result ... but thats a personal thing ... and from all accounts the Hasegawa builds nice. Rog
  24. Thats from Malvern Star's brief attempt to break back into the top end market ... Carbon frame, Mavic Cosmic Carbone 50 aero clinchers (about $2-2.5K worth at the time) and a full Dura-Ace groupset. Priced back in 2011 at $5500 AUD ... I picked it up brand new a couple of years later at $2900 ... annnnnnd it's been riden once!! ... the whole set up is way to aggressive for me to feel comfortable on the bike ... I ride my other two ... a Specialised Roll Sport with upgraded hydraulic disk brakes and a Specialised Diverge Comp (underneath the Malvern Star Oppy C7) ... with an upgraded crank to match the rest of the 105 groupset (I find the gravel set up and geometry to be much more suited to Australian conditions and my riding position ... I'm putting the Dura Ace bike Up for sale shortly. Now I just have to organise the cargo area for secure transport Rog
  25. Thanks Jeff ... it does look a lot more "exec'" now ... The colour (though supposed to be "colour matched" via the VIN number) may actually be a little off ... at least it looks that way under certain light conditions ... Not enough for me to be having rivet counter seizures though!! ... and it may just be the light position anyway?!? Rog
