  1. Nice score Grant!!
  2. lol Grant ... Wait till you see whats coming in the mail over the next month!! ... quite a bit more than whats on here to date!! (a couple still on route from the UK, Some stuff from USA and some from over east) ... still some left in the budget though for some more kits and AM: PE, correction sets, barrels, decals and tracks!! although the rate of purchases will be slowing down just a tad Rog
  3. Hey Ed ... nice work!!! ... thank you very much for the photos!! I have received mixed advice in regards to my project (from other forums) ... a lot of people are suggesting to stick with the Eduard kit as there are some fit issues with the Cyber Hobby cowl also. I find this weird as the only fit issue I experienced (building an E-4) was that of sliding the cover over the MG-17s?!? ... Anyway - apparently - the issue with the Eduard kit isn't too hard to remedy?!? So that is the only real sticking point for me ... The cost factor is not much of an issue ... Cyber Hobby kit + eduard cockpit PE = (approx) Eduard Profi E-1 ... and I like the wheel wells of the CH kit more. Rog
  4. Mmmmm Dave ... I've never seriously looked at a scale larger than 1/35 for armour so I don't know if there is anything cast available. But to answer your question ... pretty much anything and everything can get chucked on for stowage ... Jerry cans were 'caged' on rear or side decks - or strapped to the top or sides of the turret in some cases ... any variety of odds and ends were stashed around the hull while in transit - from spare track links to personal items (tents, bedrolls etc) - which is why the 'Rommel-bins' came into vogue (to help clear the 'personal' clutter) ... A whole bunch of variants had bins installed - which is why I went chasing a 1/35 AM one (rare as hen's teeth though!!) ... which makes me wonder if there even is one available for a 1/24??? ... another Idea - helmets on hooks? Best to start (like I did) by chasing photos of Pz.II's operating in the theater of operations that you wish to depict, I would think?! Regards, Rog
  5. lol Brad, believe me ... it is! ... I saw it on an in box review and a build thread - a resin kit and it looks more impressive IRL - and those in that photo are my 1st three ever ... so I will be waiting until I have an abundance of time before I try building any of them!! Rog
  6. So ... with the 2013 Birthday Stash Splurge coming to a close ... and since the first half of my kits'n'stuff have arrived ... Regards Rog
  7. Paul ... Again ... well done! ... I will keep your build thread in my pocket for when my time comes! Very, very nice work ... detailed, yet subtle - just the way I like 'em!! Rog
  8. Hiya Nick ... I bought my E-3 from here: http://www.modelhobbies.co.uk/shop/cyber-hobby-messerschmitt-bf109e3-3222-p-45006.html and apparently he has a few more in stock and my E-4's (two of 'em) from here: http://www.netmerchants.co.uk/product.php/17316/messerschmitt_bf109e4_wing_tech_series Well ... I bought 2 and they still have stock, so go figure!! Both in the sub 35 Pound mark (of course, I didn't pay VAT either - which is a bonus!) ... and both stores have no servicing issues as far as I can tell - I bought, they arrived!! Got my Revell Bf109G and a Ju88A-4 from the top one also! Cheers Rog
  9. Hi all ... I have it on good authority that the only noticable difference between a Messerschmitt Bf109E-1 and E-3 is that of the wing armament (MG's vs FF's) ... and the resulting changes to the underside paneling and wing shape. With this in mind ... I am going to attempt a little dabbling in the intracate art of re-shaping!! I liked the idea of the Eduard Profimodeler E-1 (especially colours and marking options!) ... but the whole fit and finish issue (especially with the cowl) frightens me! ... So call me a coward, but I have purchased a Cyber Hobby 1/32 Bf109E-3 ... and intend to develop a couple of little here-to-fore unused (for me) modeling skills. The idea is simple ... cut. sand, fill and rescribe rivets/panels on the underwing areas of the Cyber Hobby kit to resemble an E-1 ... use a bit of brass tubing (wings) along with some Master MG-17's (cowl) ... and finaly some decals pinched from one of my E-4 kits - to create the same marking option that I like from the Eduard E-1 kit!! However ... I need some help ... please? ... a nice clear photo of the relevant area of the E-1 wing underside (from an Eduard E-1 kit should be suffice!!) ... Thanks in advance Rog
  10. ... Latest mail arrival ... A 1/32 Revell Ju88A-4 kit!!! ... Whoo-Hoo!!!! Rog P.S. ... She's a BIG box too!!
  11. So ... buy a Hasegawa kit as well ... Build an F and use Cowl bulges for the Revell G ???
  12. Hi Cees ... Thanks for the tip. I aways dry fit several times when building to test fit accuracy before glueing (no matter the kit or medium). No I'm not working on it at the moment - I'm still awaiting delivery (probably a month off before it even gets here) ... but I don't post build threads/completed works in any case. I was referring to another build thread (on another forum) where the individual had to sand the resin part a great deal and cut away part of the fuse to get it to fit correctly ... like I said, I'm awaiting mine with trepidation ... although it seems that your gear bay fit without a hitch?!? ... so I guess it's just wait and see! Regards, Rog
  13. Lol Iain!! ... MORE? ... Lets see He.219, EE Lightnings and now this? ahhhhh ... I definately think you are constitutionally incapable of building a kit straight OOB ... and that means Hasegawa, Revell etc ... Not ZM or Tamiya (just to clarify) ... ;) Still ... we all enjoy your labours of love ... another build I'll look into with interest!! Keep em coming Iain!!! Rog
  14. Another vote for the Trumpeter Kits!!! I don't know how, but for some inexplicable reason ... Trumpeter got this kit bang on!!! Well - that may be a little unfair come to think of it ... most of their material is decent and well engineered (it fits together well) ... but accuracy wise a lot of their stuff can drive you to distraction - if you're picky. Not so with their 262 series at all ... definately the best in 1/32 by miles! I bought a 262A-2a ... and then realised it wasn't the Quad-gun set up I wanted ... so I got the 262A-1a ... Oh ... they DO like rubber tyres in their kits for some reason - so if those aren't your cuppa I suggest a resin set from somewhere (personally it's not a huge deal to me). Eduard do a nice interior set also - if you're that way inclined ... otherwise the kit has everything you are likely to need Rog
  15. Dave ... A few would be an understatement according to those in the know ... the funny thing is ... I wouldn't have really noticed had they been not pointed out to me ... but once you set the original stamp up against Iains' re-worked bits - well ... Iains versions look faster just lying there!!! ... kinda like comparing a Messerschmitt Bf.109E to an F in shape variation - if you catch what I'm throwing?! Rog
  16. Cees ... I saw a build thread elsewhere where there were huge dramas tring to get the resin gearbay to fit correctly (so that the assembled fuse' could join the lower central wing) eek! ... no trouble here I see?? ... but I'm still dreading getting mine in now!! Good luck! Rog
  17. Next delivery in ... 2 x Miniart Figures (German DAK Tank crew & SPG crew) Grant ... I like those swabs!! (oops!!! sorry ... DAVE!) Rog
  18. lol Iain ... you really don't do things by halves, do you? Me ... I'd probably settle for OOB, or would have, if the glaringly obvious errors hadn't been pointed out to me. The quicker a kit slaps together, the more enjoyment I get ... I hadn't even heard of the He-219 when it was announced - I was hoping for my beloved Do-17z (<- Theres my plug again!! See, Revell!??) I probably will still settle for OOB ... Zokei Mura OOB that is You have a great gift Iain ... a good eye ... coupled with hand-eye co-ordination I enjoy seeing your creative solutions!! Rog
  19. And the lastest of the "Birthday splurge" just delivered this morning ... 2 x Cyber Hobby 1/32 Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4's 1 x Sovereign 1/35 Pz.II Turret Stowage Bin 1 x Trumpeter 1/32 Fairey Swordfish Mk.1 ... and more still to come ... Rog
  20. ahhh no worries ... thanks for clearing that up Cees Rog
  21. Ahhhh ... excellent!! ... This is the sort of thing I like - suggestions (pre-build)!!! Ok Dave ... whats this about the landing gear? ... I have an MDC Typhoon with vac formed bubble canopies supplied and I thought that a plastic or resin one might be a better option. I DID read a build thread somewhere, where the builder said that the landing gear supplied with the MDC kit left the aircraft sitting too low at the front end ... he added a couple of styrene blocks inside the baysto 'space' the landing gear, giving them the correct height. So ... would THIS landing gear (from the sea fury) be applicable to both Typhoon and Tempest? Rog
  22. Thanks Doogs LSP_Ron hit me back - apparently they are ALL the same canopy ... happy days! Rog
  23. Hi all ... Just wondering ... Is the 1/32 Canopy on a Hawker Sea-Fury the same as for a Tempest or a Hawker Typhoon?? Can't seem to find the old Squadron 'upgrade' one atm ... and I need (about 3?) for some kits here. Cheers Rog
  24. Well actually it was my birthday on the 22nd of July ... so along with a recent pay increase due to working in a different department ... I decided to splurge on some stuff! ... What has arrived from orders to date is only the tip of the iceberg ... once all the currently ordered gear is in (over the next month) ... I'll post a separate thread with pics I can see Grant has gone fairly big with his FW-190 stuff ... and I'll be looking into his build with interest!! Rog
  25. ... And today a Trumpeter 1/32 Me.262A-1a arrives ...
