Group Build Review - What would you like to see next?
Artful69 replied to Dave J's topic in Modelling Discussion
ha ha ha ... I bit the bullet and got one while grabbing another ZM and Tamiya kit as presents for a friend on a forum - the postage was only incremental, so I thought, stuff it! ... upon opening the darned thing the other day, I immediately uttered an admiring expletive - and promptly ordered a Mustang and TA-152 (This one is the 'anime' version as the original is now discontinued and sold out!)... to answer your question I still don't have a Tamiya kit though - plus, theres a few Panzer & Luftwaffe variants still on the "spreadsheet-of-dreams" ... along with a bucketload of AM correction and detail sets! There is that 'budget concern' I mentioned, when considering it for a GB for the experts, though! ... ZM kits are not on the cheaper side! ... and it's not exactly on the 'new-kit-out' list anymore - so fat chance of these guys scoring a 'review example' ... hell, we're already getting obscure hints as to their next release!! ... One things for sure - I be paying a lot closer attention to the next issue than previously! Rog -
Group Build Review - What would you like to see next?
Artful69 replied to Dave J's topic in Modelling Discussion
Panzer Vor!! no ... seriously, anything is good! ... I'm loving all the different simultaneous POV's on the Revell G-6 (I may even buy a second one - when I have finished current procurement targets!!) I take it you guys will be building something newly released? ... Well ... * Dragon has something out every other month week day so why not from them? ... * Or the new Cyber Hobby Bf109E-7 ... * Or you could go HPH 410?? (although not everyone has the same budget allowances that I do!) ... * Or wait for the new Special Hobby Tempest (while a few of the Group Builds die down)?? ... * Also ... Academy has a new Pz.35(t) out!!! ... and the in-box review looks ok!! (I'm due to get one of these on the next 'stash procurement list') Just a few ideas ... Rog -
Dunno? ... maybe it isn't? ... but the Customer Service certainly can't be any worse!!! - I might actually enjoy receiving the merchandise! I was actually enjoying the build Cees, thinking I might learn something from it ... but alas!! - I am one of those 'assemblers' you disdain so much! All hope is lost! lol ... too late, it seems! ... Couldn't have said it better!! ... Some of us without 'the skill' are only fit for the leper colonies lol ... It serves as a timely reminder for me never to post a kit that I have made! ----------------------- Meanwhile ... any chance of some actual progress with said skills for those of us eagerly looking on in doe eyed awe? and remember to laugh, people!! ... I'm Australian Rog

Well ... I have only got 2 of the 21st C type (B1's) ... a Revell 'D' and a Hase 'G' ... So unfortunately I cannot complete any sort of comparison, myself. I am now considering the Trumpeter 'B2' - but only because I can get the 'Fawcett' update. Interesting to see how it turns out! Rog
-
Getting closer now to the end of 'Splurge Pt.2' ... today arrived: * SWS (Zoukei-Mura) 1/32 He.219 Uhu. * Trumpeter Messerschmitt Bf109G-2. Rog
-
... and it will clean out fuel injectors or carburetors !! Rog
-
And today we have arriving in the mail ... * Eduard 1/32 Bf109E-1 ... (I may order a couple more of these from the same supplier who has them in stock as they are now OOP!!) Rog
-
Doug ... Well that is interesting! ... the reviews on the 21C kit didn't mention that bit ... although it is meant to be a B1 ... not a B2 if that helps? ... If you are looking to compare all the kits at some point with photos - I, for one, would appreciate that very much!!! appart from the Trumpeter kit (with resin correction) ... I still rate the 21C kit better than the others on offer (personally) atm. Rog
-
Before I bought my two 21st Century kits, I had a look around for kit reviews online (as usual) ... I found that, overall, the new kit was rated better (which is why I bought a couple) ... If you can't score the Revell kit anywhere ... you might be able to score one of these somewhere for cheap like I did - I only forked out about $15 AUD for each at the time. Rog
-
... and today arrives ... * Cyber Hobby 1/35 Pz.Kfpw.III Ausf L "Vorpanzer" * Cyber Hobby 1/35 Pz.Kfpw.III Ausf L "Tp" Rog

... annnnnnnnd depression sets in! ...

No, no, no Matt ... honestly!! I appreciate any help in the offing (and pointers)!! ... Look ... I use Google all the time ... Here's the thing though ... there have been times when I have completely overlooked certain sites or pages brought up on Google, simply because they look a bit dodgey ... I guess thats why I've never been scammed. However, some people have actually had experience with a particular site and can rate the owner highly! (as with my search for Heinz Bar decals recently or Nicks' experience with Masterclub) ... In the end someone elses' eyes might see something I don't, also. I do try not to annoy people unnecessarily ... but if I can't find what I'm after on Google within half an hour I generaly ask those who might already be in the know - a handy resource! ... as I work full time - research time is at a minimum. Thanks again Rog
-
lol Matt ... I use Google plenty ... but why spend 2-3 hours running through a search engine when someone else has already done it and can give shortcuts?? ... for me, sharing information is what forums are all about (that - and the socialising factor!) ... as I am happy to share anything that I uncover to save someone else some time! I have to admit that, seeing it naked there in the pics, just looking at it - my first guess would have been "Revell" ... it just feels like the sort of thing they'd do! I've given up hope that Revell will do the Do, lol ... but not the intensely, insane wish that someone will pick up the ball!!! Rog

Well ... I have 3 Cyber-Hobby 'E's already (2 x '4's and 1 x '3') ... plus 3 unbuilt Trumpeter 'E's that I didn't want to go to waste! ... although the G-2 is the next one I'll be building (Trumpeter - hence the rudder correction). I was just curious as to whether the correction would work on the 'E' as well ... I guess I'll order the one set and compare it with the current 'E' components before I buy more. Thanks! Rog

Nice work matt ... and thank you!! Rog

Nick ... already read it! (very good as per usual!)... The more the merrier as they say! ... I must say though that my opinions were a little mixed after reading - accuracy is greatly improved in outline ... but I have never used a riveting tool!! Well ... I'm sure you'll find some AM gear around online ... I haven't looked, but e-bay, Eduard, Alley Cat and MDC would be a decent starting point?!? Rog

... yes ... I will not try to bend the spoon ... Spoon boy: Do not try and bend the spoon - that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth. Neo: What truth? Spoon boy: There is no spoon. Neo: There is no spoon? Spoon boy: Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. ... I shall wait for the new tool Revell kit ... lesson learned! Rog
-
Oh cool - thanks for the 1st hand impression of the 'Fawcett' correction!! ... I have my eye on the Trumpeter Ju-87B now that this is available! ;) Well ... I hope you can work some magic with that old Revell kit - a braver man than me, you are! You might be able to post a PM to Jerry through LSP forums? Rog
-
Thanks for the input Cees ... But after learning (from another source) that this was NOT the kit that I thought it was ... I cancelled this order and swapped it out with a Bf109F-4 "Priller" Special Ed. I will wait on the new tool Revell coming later!
-
Oh ... I'm up for the Lanc too ... when and if it arrives (hopefully before the second coming!) Ahhh other variants? ... any useful refs you can patch a link in with Nick? Rog

Oh hell-to-the-yes! ... This is the year of the Czech for me ... a Walrus, a Catapult, A Tempest and an Me.410 Rog
