  1. Er ... my kind of surplus income you mean?!? ... The Birthday was an excuse to splurge ... That was "Pt.2" ... Pt.3 is on the way ... from USA, Japan, New Zealand and Australia over the next two weeks - stay tuned!! Rog
  2. ... A couple of late arrivals of 'Pt.2' ... Rog
  3. Ok ... so let the photo's begin for "Birthday splurge Pt.2" ... Of all of these, what really amazed me ... was the ZM kit ... the w-o-w! factor is beyond description
  4. Today ... arrived in the post ... from Japan ... * Hasegawa 1/32 FW190A-8 * Hasegawa 1/32 FW190A-5 * Hasegawa 1/32 Messerschmitt Bf109K-4 * Hasegawa 1/32 Messerschmitt Bf109F-6/U "Galland Special" Due to a couple of postal delays ... and the sheer number of the '2nd round of orders' ... this will conclude 'Part.2' of the 'Birthday Splurge' ... The rest will be posted as 'Part.3' ... Photo's to follow!! Rog
  5. lol ... I'll bet he did! - I'm only seeing the photo, and I think it's awesome ... sure the black plastic bit at the end of the wing looks a bit dodgey - and even with the 'miss-cut', could have probably been 'covered' better (ie: more chunks of ice and snow) ... but all-in-all the water effect, model, extras and scenery is some of the best work I've seen! Perhaps I was a little too harsh on the judges - Silver (second place?) is quite a good achievement! I'm glad you encouraged him to post the pic's ... that dio gives me some inspiration Rog
  6. It's nice ... but what would be nicer, is the option to buy it one of two ways ... * As you see it there ... * A cheaper option, with the interior sections only (for detailing the internals of the Revell kits closed up) I can't see any use for the exposed skeleton ... I've only got Eduard Cockpit PE and Master barrels for mine as yet - but the resin interior would be something I'd look at!! Rog
  7. Dunno what is wrong with that 190??? ... I LOVE it!! ... the wolves, the ice (with the water run off!!), the snow ... that is one cool miniature!! ... sorry, for mine, the "judges" can go shove it!! ... If my winter scene turns out HALF that good, I will be rapt!! Rog
  8. And now the gear to fix noted deficiencies in this kit! ... http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk/messerschmitt-bf-109-upgrade-set-for-revell-kit-6258-p.asp Rog
  9. lol ... so not a Collingwood supporter then, obviously!! Ah yes ... those glory years 1997 & 1998 ... when Darren Jarman was the 'big game' player for us! ... I had a few North Melbourne supporter friends at the time ... I used to make gagging (choking) sounds around them for ages afterwards Rog
  10. Ahhh British Humour ... So Matt has "the Golden Touch" (or Golden Wallet) does he? ... Isn't there someone over on LSP who does that with Vac Form kits? Rog
  11. lol Steve ... The GF is kind of like the Melbourne Cup ... I know nothing about horses or horse racing - but each year you kind of have to back some nag to win it!! ... In the GF - it doesn't matter who you support throughout the year, you kind of barrack for one side on the day! ... I'm an Adelaide Crows fan (even though I've never been there!) ... but I've always had a soft spot for Freo! Rog
  12. AFL Grand Final ... A whole week of nationwide celebrations in the lead up ... and a whole 24 hours of AFL TV prior to the game. 100,000 people packed into the MCG ... Hawthorn Hawks v's Fremantle Dockers Freo's first ever GF ... sadly losing to Hawthorn by 15 points in a very tight encounter (who were really the best side all season anyway) Oh well ... there's always next year ... and my team might even make it?!?!? Rog
  13. Enjoying the "Purple Haze" Go Fremantle Dockers! Freeeeeee-ooooooooo! ... Freeeeeee-ooooooooo! Rog
  14. lol ... P.109T.S.D - thats a new one! ... well - I have seen that you are good with armour - so maybe give that Acadamy Pz.35(t) a crack? ... whatever you experts decide I'll enjoy going along for the ride!! Rog
  15. ha ha ha ... I bit the bullet and got one while grabbing another ZM and Tamiya kit as presents for a friend on a forum - the postage was only incremental, so I thought, stuff it! ... upon opening the darned thing the other day, I immediately uttered an admiring expletive - and promptly ordered a Mustang and TA-152 (This one is the 'anime' version as the original is now discontinued and sold out!)... to answer your question I still don't have a Tamiya kit though - plus, theres a few Panzer & Luftwaffe variants still on the "spreadsheet-of-dreams" ... along with a bucketload of AM correction and detail sets! There is that 'budget concern' I mentioned, when considering it for a GB for the experts, though! ... ZM kits are not on the cheaper side! ... and it's not exactly on the 'new-kit-out' list anymore - so fat chance of these guys scoring a 'review example' ... hell, we're already getting obscure hints as to their next release!! ... One things for sure - I be paying a lot closer attention to the next issue than previously! Rog
  16. Panzer Vor!! no ... seriously, anything is good! ... I'm loving all the different simultaneous POV's on the Revell G-6 (I may even buy a second one - when I have finished current procurement targets!!) I take it you guys will be building something newly released? ... Well ... * Dragon has something out every other month week day so why not from them? ... * Or the new Cyber Hobby Bf109E-7 ... * Or you could go HPH 410?? (although not everyone has the same budget allowances that I do!) ... * Or wait for the new Special Hobby Tempest (while a few of the Group Builds die down)?? ... * Also ... Academy has a new Pz.35(t) out!!! ... and the in-box review looks ok!! (I'm due to get one of these on the next 'stash procurement list') Just a few ideas ... Rog
  17. Dunno? ... maybe it isn't? ... but the Customer Service certainly can't be any worse!!! - I might actually enjoy receiving the merchandise! I was actually enjoying the build Cees, thinking I might learn something from it ... but alas!! - I am one of those 'assemblers' you disdain so much! All hope is lost! lol ... too late, it seems! ... Couldn't have said it better!! ... Some of us without 'the skill' are only fit for the leper colonies lol ... It serves as a timely reminder for me never to post a kit that I have made! ----------------------- Meanwhile ... any chance of some actual progress with said skills for those of us eagerly looking on in doe eyed awe? and remember to laugh, people!! ... I'm Australian Rog
  18. Well ... I have only got 2 of the 21st C type (B1's) ... a Revell 'D' and a Hase 'G' ... So unfortunately I cannot complete any sort of comparison, myself. I am now considering the Trumpeter 'B2' - but only because I can get the 'Fawcett' update. Interesting to see how it turns out! Rog
  19. Getting closer now to the end of 'Splurge Pt.2' ... today arrived: * SWS (Zoukei-Mura) 1/32 He.219 Uhu. * Trumpeter Messerschmitt Bf109G-2. Rog
  20. ... and it will clean out fuel injectors or carburetors !! Rog
  21. And today we have arriving in the mail ... * Eduard 1/32 Bf109E-1 ... (I may order a couple more of these from the same supplier who has them in stock as they are now OOP!!) Rog
  22. Doug ... Well that is interesting! ... the reviews on the 21C kit didn't mention that bit ... although it is meant to be a B1 ... not a B2 if that helps? ... If you are looking to compare all the kits at some point with photos - I, for one, would appreciate that very much!!! appart from the Trumpeter kit (with resin correction) ... I still rate the 21C kit better than the others on offer (personally) atm. Rog
  23. Before I bought my two 21st Century kits, I had a look around for kit reviews online (as usual) ... I found that, overall, the new kit was rated better (which is why I bought a couple) ... If you can't score the Revell kit anywhere ... you might be able to score one of these somewhere for cheap like I did - I only forked out about $15 AUD for each at the time. Rog
  24. ... and today arrives ... * Cyber Hobby 1/35 Pz.Kfpw.III Ausf L "Vorpanzer" * Cyber Hobby 1/35 Pz.Kfpw.III Ausf L "Tp" Rog
  25. ... annnnnnnnd depression sets in! ...
