We have some AWESOME builders here!
1to1scale replied to Clunkmeister's topic in Modelling Discussion
I’m a below average builder, but I am trying to learn something new in each and every model I build. But, I am probably a fast builder. I started building in December of 2016, in 2017, I built a total of 10=1/72 airplanes, and 4=1/32 airplanes, 2018 was a slow year because of the move, but I finished three so far, but I’m on track to finish 10=1/32 this year. I moved one to the shelf of doom, just because of a lack of motivation. I really do want to do a quick build of a Tamiya 1/32 F-15E next month, as well as a twin or four engine bomber this year too. We will see what I can handle. -
Can’t wait to see your progress

I have a formula I use, dark brown wash fills all the nooks and crannies, and changes the tone of the green, then I use light green and metal pastel pigments to lighten all the raised areas. On aircraft in dusty or desert areas, I use a light tan wash. Then I always use a light grey wash on all black surfaces.

Hello, my introduction.

Don’t be so modest, these are all IPMS show winners. -
OK, is this a mistake or is someone just being a wiseguy.

Regardless, if no one fesses up, give them a try! I have heard great things about these paints, I have always planned to order some US interior and exterior colors and give them a try one day, especially for the GSB Fisher Cougar I have. I bet these have no problem sticking to resin. -

Maybe they intended to send you flowers? -
A little bit of detail painting today. Painting dials drives me nuts. If I didn’t have 7 of them, I would have bought PE for each. Luckily the Eduard kit came with two panels, and I have another late panel, some day I will figure out an easy way to paint them. I still have home touch up to do with green, black, and silver.

They actually work for a lot of planes, same with leftover F4U decals. -
you also have orange top Tamiya glue in a bottle with a brush applicator.

That’s what the proctologist said! Seriously, nice job on the Phantom! -
John, after building mine, I realize why you love these so much, these things fall together like legos without fitting or sanding. Leaves you to be creative with paint.

Hmm...sounds like you are compensating for something... har har har...

We will see if my 1/43 scale DeAgostini Millenium Falcon pushes that definition! It’s 2x3 feet and weighs about 35lbs

Wow, all this stuff keeps happening when I’m not around! What the heck happened? I sometime feel like I walked in a door and a bar fight was already going on. FYI, I don’t have a beef with anyone on either site, I was just glad to see some old friends hanging out over here.

Hey! Good to see you here!

Spending a few more hours sanding today, I fit all the major pieces and smaller items, I’m pretty happy with the gaps now, the rest will be fine tuned with glue and filler. I also ordered a new type of CA+Resin glue that works for resin kits, it’s a CA that stays slightly flexible when cured, they make a Resin and a metal PE version, I ordered one of each. I should have it next week. I can now move on to finishing the cockpits and closing up the fuselages

Oops, wrong picture... here we go... So this my first resin conversion ever, and so far, the fit is just OK. There are some mold issues that I need to fix, there are two areas that look like the mold ripped and will need filler to bring it level, and the overall shape is a little “lumpy”, but overall, it’s pretty good. All the flat edges need truing up with a flat file, and the fit is not perfect. Someone else that did this gave me a heads up, and I cut the panel line a little shy, where I knew I would have to sand them up to match. The biggest issue is the lower cowl, it’s fit needs some fiddling, and the upper cowl is a little narrow, so I needed to sand some taper into the windshield piece as it too tall and wide at the front. To be continued....

Hello everyone, some people here may know me from the other site, as well as some local get together and shows. I started building large scale models about 18 months ago after a 25 year break from the hobby. My first was the P-40B, now i am up to maybe #10? I may come close to doubling that number when I finish my current batch of P-40’s
