  1. I had a thought here, and others have the same suspicion.... Looking at this plane, there are areas that obviously are finalized. But looking at others, like the front turret, that look very crude. I wonder if the clear parts for the turret were simply not ready for this show. Looking again, It looks like the turret was a scaled up 1/72 or 1/48 part, that was cast in clear resin just so they could show the complete model. I am starting to think that it will come out with a different turret. The wing, however, i think that's a final piece, and it wont change, everything else has full detail and looks to be final molds.
  2. Here are a few more pics! Photo credit is Neil Yan. ...that damn front turret looks even worse in these pictures.
  3. The pictures posted backwards, but you get the idea. As you can see from the pictures, this is a “K” tail, of the short and long tails, it is by far the worst. This one had the worst shape issues, only one panel line matched each side, and the rivets were too light. I’m going to have to definately do some rivet work on the two “K”s. I have a feeling this project is going to involve filling non existant panel lines along with a lot of sanding.
  4. Today I finished assembling my and weathering the last of the cockpits, so I moved on to getting some filler on the tail seam, before I glue it together. I used masking tape to try to preserves as much detail as possible. I applied three coats of Mr Surfacer 500, which has become my favorite large gap filler.
  5. The reality is, the HK will probably be available within the year, where the Wingnut will come 12 months from now, HK has an opportunity to sell Lancs to a bunch of people, and then drop the price a little later and still get sales, because of the cheaper price. The majority of people building models don’t add AM, and build out of the box. There really is room for both HK and Wingnut. Personally, I don’t have a need to buy a Lanc right away, so I will wait for the Wingnut, just because I have built both brands, and I know that WNW will give me a pre-researched, glue and paint kit, that will amaze me as I assemble it.
  6. The P-40B was obviously a solid 3D print model, so it might be a while before we see a kit from them.
  7. Nobody has seen any P-40F pictures, but rather a new 1/32 P-40B from Great Wall Hobby.
  8. Here are a few LSM’s...not a lot, but at least there are a few!
  9. Removed for lack of interest.
  10. yes, i got a pair of the HK gear, which I believe are G-factor made. Its a definite improvement. By the way, I order both a set of Brassin and True Details tires and wheels. Did you know that they use different treads? Might be important if you are making a specific aircraft.
  11. so I have heard that one of the biggest issues is that the landging gear sits in the fully extended position, and not under weight. Is HPH correcting the gear? Maybe if you use sac gear, it will sag on its own!?!?
  12. You hit on a good point, two competing manufacturers does not mean one will loose. I actually own an HK Mossie and a recently bought Tamiya. So both companies sold a copy, nobody lost. And I actually prefer the early version that HK made, i prefer the glass nose.
  13. I'm still shocked. I checked the date three times between last night and this morning. Nope, not April first! Could it be some NZ Prank Holiday? I am glad I have not pre-ordered the Lanc. No doubt, WNW will probably be released right about the $300 mark (+/-$50), so looking at the pics from the show on the HK Lanc, I will wait for Wingnut to release their around the same price. If you look for pics of the HK kit, you can see poor fit all around it. I think its fair that when you spend $200+ on a plastic model, it should actually fit together without filler and hobby room engineering. So...........I think my Jackson and his associates have realized, there is money to be made in WW2 subjects. I hope they continue on this trend.
  14. OH yes! I love the Rufe! its definitely on my list of aircraft to build.
  15. He told Le me last night that he sold out. I hope everybody got some.
  16. Im just trying to keep it out of the ditches. i had to start writing things down, sorting out the IP, seats, belts, and weathering for 7 aircraft has been confusing, I finally took some notes.
  17. Unfortunately, those eBay sellers are charging $30 to ship to the US.
  18. If anyone is looking, contact Greg. He is a good guy, I bought a lot from him.
  19. I got the washes applied to the individual cockpits, at this stage I had to stop, take some notes. I had to think about each aircraft and the environment it operates in in, then pick the right weathering colors for it. I also had to determine which seats, panels, and what seat belts each had. I had to create a list so I could keep it straight. I also had to stop and do a workbench teardown, as I was missing the trim knob and rudder pedals from one of the planes. I searched the carpet, my workbench twice, and the boxes. Nothing. so I decided to do a full mid build workbench cleanup. Still nothing. I finally found that one of the P-40 boxes had my F-15E box sitting on top of it. Guess what...they were still attached to the sprues. Now I can continue with the build. I still have some weathering to do on the cockpits, final assembly, then I can close the fuselages. That's where the fun begins, filler and sanding....
  20. I’ll be there.
  21. I’m only 2 1/2 hours away, so I will be driving out for the day.
  22. Amen...I hate it too.
  23. I sent an PM directly to Harold, I had props in a week.
  24. That’s the plan, they are releasing a 1/32 D model.
