Foil Gaz? What for? This a/c wasn't silver but yellow/black. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean? ð
-
In keeping with my current interest in post war racing a/c this is next up. P-39 Cobra II which won the Thompson Trophy in 1946. Special Hobby P-39Q with a kit bashed prop/spinner and other embellishments such as lengthening the fuselage (as needed on all the SH P-39 kits). An eye-catching yellow/black paint job should look great in 1/32.

I know how you feel! My magnifiers get plenty of use!

I'm glad you like it, thanks. No, no Bearcat at this time since I don't have one in the stash. I'm figuring on this one. 1/48 ICM kit. -

Thank you Gaz. Another eye catcher for my racer collection. -
Done with this one now. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/14606-p-51c-racer-thunderbird-done/

This is the Trumpeter 1/32 P-51B kit I have built as a racer from back in 1948 and 1949 competing in the Bendix race both years. Flown by Joe DeBona with Jimmy Stewart as his main sponsor. I added a Aires cockpit, Barracudacast tires, and a Tamiya prop and spinner. I also added a resin dorsal fin. Painted with Xtracolor RAF Oxford Blue. Decals are from Draw Decals. I have to say I'm enjoying building these racers! A great change of pace. I hope you like the results of my efforts. Please click on the 1st photo for best resolution and to view as a slide show. ð

LOL Not quite done yet but soon. This will be number 4.

I hope it works out for you Gaz. I watch Oak Island too and call it a snoozer most of the time so maybe that will help you sleep better! Seriously, I take a couple of over the counter sleep aids (Unisom) every night and they do help me go to sleep but I wake up a couple of times each night anyway. Being retired I don't have the pressure of worrying about work anymore thank goodness! Give Unisom a try. It might be a help. Worth a shot anyway. John

Agreed.

Agreed Gus. That Tamiya color was recommended in the decal instructions but I figure they'll have to re-think that.

After all is said and done Harv it will be satisfactory. Color photos of that period can fade or degenerate, etc. Check this out. Same photo but not cropped.

After digging through my large stash of paint I decided to try this one, Xtracolor RAF Oxford Blue. I LIKE IT! LOL After a couple of coats I should have a nice shiny smooth paint job (if I don't run out of paint as I only have about 1/2 of a tinlet). Fingers crossed. ð

I painted the upper wings with that Tamiya Mica Blue but I DON"T LIKE IT. So now I'm going to look around for a different shade of blue. ðĪŠ

LOL Peter! It's just that I enjoy the work, etc. Also, being retired and single I have all the time I want for building. Keeps me occupied.
-
All primed and ready for painting with Tamiya lacquer Mica Blue. Kind of a metallic dark blue color.
-
It worked out well Peter with just a bit of "adjusting". I wish I could remember who it was I got those from a while back but can't. (Lots of other stuff I can't remember too! LOL) John

Heck yes Carl. Thanks!!! PM on the way.
