  1. Thanks Gaz. That's right but now I intend to stay with the '63 until it's finished. Done with a lot of the high cuss factor stuff except for mating the wings to the fuselage. THAT has a pretty high cuss factor. I don't know why HpH didn't do a better job of engineering this kit as it would be a lot more enjoyable if some of the worst offenders had been paid better attention. Maybe they just wanted to irritate us!
  2. Resuming work on this one. Stay tuned.
  3. LOL Phil. Maybe so but for now I'm returning to the HpH P-63. I want to get it completed even though it too has some fit "issues". Since I've already built 2 I know what to look for, etc. so there won't be any unpleasant surprises (fingers crossed!).
  4. As much as I hate to say it but this SOB is going to the SOD, at least for now. Nose fit, at least for me, has a rather high cuss factor. I'm just going to set it aside until such time as I need something to cuss at.
  5. Just a heads up for anyone building this kit in future. DO NOT add nose weight until after assembling the nose section but before attaching to the fuselage. I found out the hard way this can throw off the nose pieces resulting in a lop sided nose. I've had to remove the right side nose piece and some of the BB's on that side to fix that. Thanks goodness for debonder.
  6. I think I've added adequate weight to keep it from being a tail sitter. I had to do some trimming on the cockpit parts to get a good fit for the left hand side of the cockpit. No big deal as that will not be visible later.
  7. If any of you have the Smithsonian Channel take a look at the above named video. All about how they made the movie "Fury". Very interesting. Too bad the ending of the movie was pure fiction. Still, well worth watching.
  8. Thanks Carl. I know what you mean about forgetting certain parts. I've done that more times than I want to remember!
  9. Nice! Looks like it will be quite serviceable.
  10. That guy probably did get a visit if he didn't have a Class 3 license. No way can I afford to fork out $15k or so for one.
  11. I collect guns. This MG 42 is one of my pet projects that I have worked on off and on for a good while. It's de-rated to semi-auto to be legal (no way I could afford the cost of ammo for full auto!). I just finished a re-work on it and hope to take it to the range soon.
  12. As posted previously, this is a really nice kit and I look forward to building it. Preliminary interior painting, etc is underway now but nothing glued up yet.
  13. As things happen sometimes I have decided to model a different TW a/c instead of Brewery Wagon. It'll be GI Ginnie which was one of only a few 376BG to bomb a Ploesti refinery. It survived the raid. So I'm dropping this thread and starting a new one.
  14. Thanks Phil. I have about decided 1/72 is the best way to go with 4 engine a/c although 1/48 is a fairly close 2nd. 1/48 is best for twins I think. Depends on the subject.
  15. They do present a challenge Ernie. That makes it so much better when they are done.
  16. The first two I built I carried on until they were finished just like any other kit. This time I decided to just use it as a on going build and devote time to other projects along the way. That way I don't feel "pressured" to keep after it when I have other things I want to devote time too.
  17. Since finishing the Academy Minicraft 1/72 B-24D as "The Sandman" which survived the Tidal Wave raid on Ploesti, I decided I'd get the Hasegawa kit and do "Brewery Wagon" which did not survive the raid. After looking over the parts there is no doubt this kit is head and shoulders above the old AM kit as far as detail, etc is concerned.
  18. I had planned to work on it until I was ready to do something else. It'll stay put aside for a bit but I will get back to it later on. Right now....another 1/72 B-24D from Tidal Wave. Hasegawa kit this time.
  19. Time to set it aside again. Made some progress and will get back to it a little later on.
  20. Good luck Harv. I hope all goes well.
  21. I might point out that the kits I'm showing are complete, unstarted, etc. A very small part of my collection of oldies.
