MiniArt P-47D Thunderbolt: COMPLETED 2/13/24

Looks like a good start Peter. It'll be a beauty for sure. -
Somehow I managed to lose part of one of the gun pieces. If someone here has this parts tree and can let it go I sure could use it. Otherwise I'm SOL on that style gun pack. Please PM me if you can help. Thanks!!!!! ð

A lot higher actually! LOL I cussed it up one side and down the other. ðĪŠ
-
LOL Peter. Had a bit of a cuss factor but I finally got it to work.
-
Finally got the cowlings together. As I've said before, thank goodness for CA and CA kicker! I had to remove a couple of parts that interfered with the fit. Not a big deal since they wouldn't be easily visible anyway.

Thanks Kevin. Doesn't happen very often but when it does it's a bummer. The only thing to do is go on to something else and let it rest. ð -

Remember guys that if you click on the 1st photo they all have much better resolution. You can then view them as a slide show. -

Thanks Dennis. I'm glad you like it. It's starting to look better to me the more I look at it! Sure could be worse! -

Not all that bad for one that was 1st issued back in the 70's or so. Fits okay but it needs some after market items like a replacement cockpit with better details. I also replaced the kit wheels with some for a Corsair. The windscreen for the -3 version is too "rounded" and doesn't look right. I used the windscreen for the -5 and added the needed ribs to represent a -3. Bottom line is it's better than the Trumpeter kit. I hope this answers your question Rod. -

Just one of those things Peter. Thanks! -
It's a iffy proposition Peter but I think I can fix it. ðĪŠ

I'm trying to get the cowling pieces to fit and, has been the case on previous builds, they are a difficult proposition with associated high cuss factors. Way more difficult than they had to be if the parts had been molded in a different way. ð

I decided to pull this one from the SOD and try again to get it to straighten out, etc. Thanks to the old hair dryer, CA glue, CA Zip Kicker, and clamps I think I finally have it to where it will work (fingers crossed). I'll work with it some more today and maybe I'll be able to get on with the build. We will see!!!

Done with this one. https://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/19872-hasegawa-f6f-3-completed/

I'm calling this one done. I'm not particularly happy with it as it just hasn't turned out like I wanted it to. I got tired of working on it and wanted to get it wrapped up and done. Happens sometimes I guess. At any rate it's finished. I added a CMK cockpit and some Tamiya Corsair wheels plus a gunsight from my leftover parts stash to help with some details. Painted with Colourcoats and Tamiya. Decals are all from my decal stash.
-
LOL Scott. Busy busy!
-
Thank you Dennis. Pretty good kits even though they are old school molding. The main thing I guess is it LOOKS like a Hellcat and adding a few "extras" such as a after market cockpit and wheels/tires from a Tamiya Corsair make it a pretty fair build. I can imagine what a 1/32 Tamiya issue(s) would be like! I plan to spray the clear flat today then start on the weathering, etc.
-
Painting and decaling done! Clear flat over spray is next then I'll start on some weathering and exhaust stains.
-
Come on Carl! Get the lead out! LOL Just kidding. Painting and decaling are my favorite parts of building.
-
LOL ð Reducing cuss factors is a good thing!

You are welcome Peter. Always glad to help out if needed.
