And I’ve gotta be careful with this one. She had parked herself at the base of my chair. I almost took her tail off when I rolled it.

Before I get too deep into adding more parts I’m trying to stay ahead of the “gap and air bubble fill in” game. Otherwise I would lose my mind and sadly it might get placed high on the SOD. While babysitting the new pup I came down and mixed up some Tamiya putty and Leveling Thinner so I could get the putty to run into tight gaps. Thinned putty mixed with a generous amount of patience makes great filler. Let it dry, sand the edges and reapply several times. I did have a small blemish on the wings LE on the bottom I noticed and filled with straight putty, let it dry and sanded it flat. While priming it last night I noticed it acted strange and appeared to bubble up. So I just hit it with an Exacto blade to investigate. What? Is that a spec of silicone from the mold? Digging deeper….. It’s huge! And all the way through!! Off to the garage to see if I have any autobody filler (Bondo) left over. This is just too big to fill with epoxy and have it shrink back. But not only was it silicone pieces, but a large air bubble as well.

F-15DJ Kai or Eagle Plus- Finished!

Looking great Carl. You need a can of Endust on your bench. Necessity for builders that own very fuzzy animals! Don't spray it on the model. I spray on a micro fiber cloth, kind of squish it into the cloth and wipe down the model. -
Kitty Hawk T-28 experts needed. Interior differences B/D vs. C
ScottsGT replied to ScottsGT's topic in Modelling Discussion
I just found the B/D set in stock at Scale Hobbyist and ordered it! Unfortunately they didn’t have the C set in stock, but eBay came through. And of course as usual I cannot order something without checking out my paint, tape and accessories stockpiles. So I have some Evergreen stock, paint and tape on the way too. -
Reminds me of the original XB-35 and the YB-49. Technology just wasn’t ready for the idea.

Y’all need to stop it. You’re making me blush here. 🥴

I’ve given up hope on Quinta coming through on these as they said they would in an email 16 months ago to me. I’m starting to look into the Eduard pre painted sets. Of course the only option I can find available is the one for the C model, and I need one of each. How different are the cockpits in these models? Will a C work in the B/D kit? FWIW, my kits are not readily accessible, so it’s not an easy task to just open the boxes and take a look.

Thanks, but you’re just seeing the magic of internet posting. spent two hours fitting that nose section between the intakes. Trim here, sand there, test fit, trim more, sand more, test fit….. The final trim job was the tab cast into the back half that mates up into a cut out pocket in the back top end of the front half. It was about 1/16” too long. I fought that last 1/16” for 30-45 minutes until I figured it out.

SH P-39Q "Zoot Shooter" RFI

Another home run John! Fantastic. -
Looks like Molly has stuck. We bounced around between Dolly and Molly. Unfortunately she’s a little turd machine. She goes about 4-5 times a day outside and I’m still accidentally stepping on hidden land mines on the camo carpet. Well, throw rugs. Looks like they’re gone until she’s older.

That second one….. I’ve had that look.

AEG G.IV - Creature of the Night - WNW 1/32 - Finished

Immaculate detail! -
Love the finish. Awesome build.

Forgot to mention the cockpit minus the seat is read to get installed. It’s hard to see in the pic, but I made clear lenses over the instruments using UV glue.

Just an update where I’m at. I’ve been slowly, very slowly….filling in the wing gaps by brushing in Tamiya putty thinned with Mr. Color thinner. I also dipped the canopy in Future and attached it as well. Working out the glue joint now. Now I’m focusing on the landing gear wile the putty cures.
-
Agreed. Alclad is pretty thin stuff.
-
Modelers undercoating? Looks like paint that needs a lot of thinner added to it. But as mentioned, could also be contaminated with something. I’ve seen paint act this way from both issues. I’d try a fresh pipette and thinned out.

A puppy! Wife has been driving me crazy wanting another pup after we lost our old girl over 2 years ago. This one’s a mini Bernedoodle. Should stay in the 40 to 50 lb range. I figured we’re not getting any younger and after her health scare, why not? Still working on a name.
-
Actually, I did. All the thicker parts it worked normal. It was the paper thin sides of the seat that went rubbery. Back and bottom of the seat are still fine. Even the very thin brake hoses, oxygen hoses, etc are unaffected. It’s really weird.
-
Seat sides were still soft yesterday after sitting overnight dry. Probably going to just replace the sides with some Evergreen sheet plastic.

Ohhh, shoulder thing that goes up. It’s so evil.

Yea, that’s a real “Derp” moment for me. I honestly don’t think I’ve even put 200 rds through mine. I got it about the time I was building my Garand and it just seems “more fun” with the ping at the end.
