What is on your bench right now ? Share a picture :)
ScottsGT replied to Martinnfb's topic in Modelling Discussion
Here’s something a little different I’m working on today. It’s even model related. I welded up 6 new shelf frames for the display case. In the process of painting them right now. I mount these and place 3/16 plate glass on them. Each glass is something like 44” X 22”. This should max out the display case. -

Two votes for Vought, so that means I have to build both? Cutlass and Crusader? -

Nothing. Absolutely nothing on the bench. Just finished cleaning up after the He 111. Now it’s decision time. Stuka? Cutlass? Me 262? A surprise from the stash?? Been itching to do that A-7D Corsair with the Zacto correction. Or the Crusader….hmmmmm… -
Just an update on the Mustangs AC. Compressor and clutch gone. Just under $1800 out the door. Sadly in my younger days I could have crawled under the car and done this myself. I now go by the motto “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.”

Sprue Bros! Great deal. Hopefully they’re making room on the shelves for the J/K model. Click me!

My derp moment. 🤪 My sarcasm meter was unplugged at the time.

Kevin, it’s the old Revell Pro Modeler.

Lots of distractions since I opened the box, but it’s finally crossed the finish line and in the display case. Biggest struggle was deciphering the instructions and sprue numbering as they jumped around all over the place. Quite frustrating! Also found that they don’t even tell you the part number for the pitot tube. Had to look it up on the parts list, even though it was kind of easy to find since it was one of the last few parts I had left. The parts fit is pretty good and builds out nicely. I will add, use caution buying aftermarket for this kit. I didn’t pay attention when I ordered Eduard masks and there is a difference in some versions. I did use the G Factor brass legs for this big one. Kit gear does have hollow legs so you could insert wires for a little more strength.

OMG! I just untaped all the glass. WOW! This bird is a beauty painted up. Nope. Not gonna post pics. I’ve got a few finishing details and the I’ll post up the whole enchilada in the completed thread.

Ok, you guys win! I did just add a few oil streaks coming out of the cowl edges, but I’m going to leave it at that.

Mine would laugh her butt off. Now she probably wouldn’t let me post progress pics though. But it would be funny watching a moderator get moderated! I’d probably get a phone call from Ernie over that. -

OMG! I just realized I could continue the progress in “The Great Twins Group Build”. -
Well, not sure if I’m happy here. Shot the flat clear this evening. Other than what’s in the panel lines, it’s almost impossible to notice the wash I did on top. Bottom looks great with the sky blue base. I’ll chuck it up to a learning experience. Might go back and add some more along with some oil staining around the cowlings. I was hoping it was time to untape. Gotta pump the brakes and rethink weathering.

I guess this will be a final update. We got great news today that oncatype test was very low numbers. Basically, so low that radiation and chemo is unnecessary! Her only “preventative” measures will be going on hormone (estrogen) blocking meds for the next 5-7 years. Basically puts her into full menopause now. The plastic surgeon was an artist and reconstruction will be over the next few months as they slowly inflate tissue expanders making room for implants. I’m just hoping he’s not a Picasso If you know what I mean. 🤪 -
Well I think I smudged it up pretty good on the bottom! Heres the top side Got a few more areas I still need to clean up the Flory wash from. But I think it’s almost ready for the flat clear.

Home run Peter! Looks great. -
Oh yea! The Madea approval! Fun fact. Ever see the videos of Tyler Perry’s RC airplane hobby and his hanger and runway at his Atlanta GA estate? Very impressive!

Any thoughts on the ICM 1/48 B-26 Marauder? Is it worth $100?
ScottsGT replied to CANicoll's topic in Modelling Discussion
Still want a Revell kit? I’ll never build mine with all the 1/32 heavies still in the box. -

I’m holding out for a 1/32. -
He’s no longer Lt. Dan. 🙁 Yea, his name is Daniel and everyone called him Lt. Dan. Capt. Dan just doesn’t have the same humor. He’s considered an old man in his group since he did the green to gold program after 11 years in the reserves.
