  1. EagleCals has released these decals for the1:32 F4U1 Birdcage. Three sheets will be available June 2013. EagleCals #150-32 F4U 1 Part 1 EagleCals #151-32 F4U 1 Part 2 EagleCals #152-32 F4U 1 Part 3
  2. I'll certainly be game for this plane as it has beautiful lines. Will wait until both are released then snag the kit with the better finish/fit/etc.
  3. Завершено! Will post additional pics in "Finished Work" in a few days. New background for studio ordered plus wrap up some reviews.
  4. looks great Danny. I have this kit and I will be watching this with great interest. really like the copper wire treatment.
  5. really well done dio, love the engine and the figures. welcome to LSM. look forward to see more builds from you.
  6. Barracuda P-47 Cross and Block Tread Wheels Great review Dave! Barracuda wheels for my current WIP Hasegawa Jugs. Left is Cross tread (pre-weather) with dish hub which will be used on my Russian Jug. Right is Block tread (post-wash, pre-pigment) with slotted hub for my "Slick Chick" Jug. As Dave mentioned there is a small amount of flash on the slotted hubs and care must be taken when cleaning. On the Hasegawa kits you will have to reduce the axle length by about 1mm. A careful cut and EZ sanding will do the trick. Test fit, test fit, test fit. These wheels were a pleasure to work on and the detail is the best out there.
  7. outstanding modeling on this....a joy to follow
  8. A beautiful Jug. The NFM is very well done, fine weathering job.
  9. nice work on the pit Dave. enjoying this build and is giving me inspiration when I start my "Rising Sun" builds this fall. "Achtung Baby" builds starts early Jume when I finish my Jugs. that AK stuff looks interesting. what is your PSI when you shoot Alclad Klear Kote: 18psi? Needle size: .35mm, .5mm? I have been having some frustrating results with uneven coverage. I spray light multiple coats, some areas are gloss while some stay dull. Thoughts?
  10. same camo/marking schemes, yet two different finishes and both beautiful renderings. Doogs' your G55 was one of the most enjoyable WIP's I have ever followed. It's great how a build can be a supply of angst yet in the end turn out so rewarding. the lines of this aircraft are just elegant. agreed Ken, in the hands of a good pilot the G55 was a very worthy opponent. I believe Kurt Tank evaluated and gave the G55 good performance marks.
  11. the weathering on the bombs is jaw dropping....so is rest of plane!
  12. beautiful. my eyes hurt from exposure to the exceptional detail and weathering!
  13. really nice weathering and finish. congratulations!
  14. WEATHERING Flory wash removed and I'll do a shameless plug...this stuff is great! I really, really like the results and ease of use. Highly recommended! Undersides cleaned, weathered and shot with Alclad Matte Varnish. All pimped up! Topsides cleaned & varnished, canopy/pit masks removed. Detail shot of pit and landing flaps. I used MiG wash with directional rub on the natural metal finish of landing flaps. Pit detail. The HGW belts are a pain to cut out. The results and flexibility are well worth it. The R2800 weathered with a shot of semi gloss. Lessons learned on this cowling construction will be applied with "Slick Chick". This one was definitely a learning experience. The Hasegawa brass blast tubes get the Blueing treatment, props to Harv. Time consuming but results speak. Next up will be finish weathering install of the landing gear, then nav lights, landing light, recognition lights, rear view mirror, antenna, pitot, prop and blast tubes. Then boom! Done! Work will be full stop for a few days as my Studio Lights (the right ones) arrived this am. I have 3 photo shoots and write ups on deck. No play till these are completed.
  15. Thanks Vivian. Work will be full stop for a few days as my Studio Lights (the right ones) arrived this am. I have 3 photo shoots and write ups on deck. No play till these are completed. Look forward to see your Stang!
  16. welcome and kudos on a nice build. like the weathering. interesting color combo. what theater did id plane see action? this kit is in my stash and fast approaching my on deck mode soon.
  17. I used MiG on my TBD build about a year ago and was happy with the results, albeit it was difficult to work with. Passed on a sludge wash on the Rufe, my bad. Used Flory on my P80 and was really pleased. Easy, user friendly, water based...do overs allowed. The RU Jug came out nice and I will be posting pics soon. This stuff is so simple and easy to use, it's genius!
  18. beautiful work on this Jamme. the weathering is top!
  19. SLUDGE IT TO ME! Flory wash applied. Dark Dirt underside and Black upper.
  20. DECALS Decals gives this Jug a unique look. National markings and stencils applied. The P-47D-s were factory shipped from NY via the southern lend lease route. They were assembled near Basrah, Persia at the Abadan port and air base. They were flown by Russian pilots to the USSR on the Abadan-Teheran-Kirovabad route, about1500km. The planes were handed to the air regiment which trained the crews and deployed the planes to the units. A technical platoon (able to speak and understand English) checked the machines, removed radio and electronics not compatable with Russian military or air regiment. The soviet national insignia was painted by the platoon I'll post more data when I post finished Jug pics. Will start weathering in a few days.
  21. very nice build....please pass me the WNW Kool-Aid!
  22. thanks Martin, that Rufe will be on my epic build list for quite awhile. thanks Jamme! several guys approached me and said the P80 never saw action in WWII. Then I said "Fantasy Build"....ohhh, ok! then one asked why did you do a WWII scheme? I said, "look at it, is that cool or what?" smiles and fist-pump followed! thanks Dave thanks Grant.
