Just got this for £13 on ebay, after a proper read id say there's some very good research in there but a lot of fence sitting. Its not a topic you can be definitive about to be fair and he does cover the dark schemes at the end of the book. Well worth buying for the veterans testimony and hes collected the best pictures available in one volume including some that ive never seen published. Definitely spot on with the "Finding the unicorn" comment Nic.

Apparently Fisher will sell you the one from their Sea Fury.

I think Tamiyas next major kit after they do the Corsair range will be German surely? The PCM kit is very workable, I've seen some great models built from it, just think the Hurricane is worthy of more mainstream attention plenty of potential with it. -

I think the way Revell mould their kits we will see Mk V's a plenty. I'd like to see a Vc done properly, maybe some early Seafires? What I'd really like is a proper Hurricane, preferably by Tamiya rather than Hobbyboss or Revell etc -
Pacific Coast Models 1/32 Tempest MK.V Review
benjaminsummerfield replied to JeroenPeters's topic in Aircraft Reviews
Im looking forward to seeing these kits built, don't think I would have been disappointed by it but I will be waiting for the MPM Special hobby kit. -
personally waiting for the Malcom hood versions that will surely follow

Anyone heard anything about the New tool Spit from Revell? Haven't even seen test shots or Box art yet and it was scheduled for release in August! Im hoping its more like their JU88 rather than the He219. Its supposed to be a MkII, strange choice but surely an easy backdate to a Mk1? 20 euros is very reasonable tho! http://www.revell-shop.ch/militr-flugzeuge-von-1920-1949/4046973-revell-03986-spitfire-mk-ii-1-32-4009803039862.html

That's the one I saw, gave it away as a prize at my clubs show. I have some of MDC's bits for the Revell Typhoon though which are excellent.

It's a stunning kit. You get everything you'll need with it.

I'm surprised the bigger companies haven't utilised 3D printing yet! You could do some fantastic conversions as well. But sign me up for a Westland Whirlwind ! And a Hawker Typhoon, Fairy Fulmar........

Claes Sundin Luftwaffe Fighter Aircraft - Profile Book No1
benjaminsummerfield replied to nmayhew's topic in Tools, Books & Misc.
My dad has them, it seems he's revisited the popular aircraft like Gallands, Grafs, Marseilles etc so if u have his first two there might not be enough new to justify buying it. The twin engine stuff is new to me tho. Think ill be investing in it. -
Claes Sundin Luftwaffe Fighter Aircraft - Profile Book No1
benjaminsummerfield replied to nmayhew's topic in Tools, Books & Misc.
Cracking review Nick my dad has both his previous Luftwaffe Profile books and they provide tonnes of inspiration. I actually contacted Claes about a subject in his older book and he was very helpful and told me an updated profile of it is in this new one. He even sent me a very rare photo he had to back it up! Now that's service ! -
I think he's played it very safe with this book, very few Spits on Malta were left unpainted. The ones that are obviously still in the desert scheme are the aircraft that didn't last long to be repainted, there's years of Caruana profiles and aviation paintings tht have built up an image of Desert scheme spits in Malta. It's futile to try and pin them down to a single colour because even if an Official colour was used it would have been thinned down and applied so roughly that it wouldnt be a true representation of itself. He also hasn't accounted for the very dark schemes the spits sported late in 42/43 when they went on the offensive. Fascinating subject and fair play to him for tackling it. Ill wait for part two of Tony O'Tooles book Good review tho Nic.

Exactly why I stay clear of those forums unless I really have to! It spiralled into a criticism about "foreigners" copying and not crediting people's work; I stopped reading at that point The Shagbat looks amazing so I've no doubt the Hornet will be stunning. Best get saving now!! -

Apparently the Hornet, or rather the artwork and drawings they are using has come in for a lot of criticism on another forum. -
