  1. I also use the JLC razor saw , a real quality tool and their blades could cut straight through your fingers. Nice to buy European tools rather than Chineseum stuff too . The blades are good on their own for scribing as I'm sure you're aware πŸ˜€
  2. Truly a labour of love but a great finish . Nothing about the Halifax is easy , even just seeing one . The lack of survivors no doubt has a lot to add to the lack of models. People are less awre of it , and it's not a case of measure and scan as even Elvingtons is a bitsa , great though it is.
  3. Plastics a little soft, as it the detail ( a bit like Airfix for my money) , but they make a lot of UK stuff no one else does . I've completed both Scimitar and Scorpion, and their range of Cents is good , bearing in mind they were the first people to do one, other than the dog old Tamiya kit ....which is crazy given the number of nation users. Just need them to do a Stalwart .....I've not bothered with their German stuff as the world and his wife offers that.
  4. I bought the Amusing Hobby MKV Cent ..and sold it on ..it's a direct Chinese knock off copy of the earlier Taiwanese AFV club release which softer plastic . Depends which China you prefer lol . On anther note ............ Historically it irritates me that Canada never seems get acknowledged . According to most Hollywood films, the UK wasn't around on D-Day .....and according to nearly all films ,the Canadians weren't either despite capturing the whole of Juno beach . Given they were 95% volunteers and kicked the be-Jeesus out of the 12th SS Pz Div in Normandy , it's criminal they have so little exposure.
  5. This is the old Tamiya MKIII 1842 tooled model . This one is rocking a 30 cal that the Brits fitted during their Korean adventures . Still mostly ok , but no use for the later marks as the turret changed a lot for the MK 5 . And yes , I have a development map I'm that sad. ( email me in confidence if you want a copy !)
  6. And here is where we are today ..85% done ish . Also if you like post war Brit armour , despite being an Opsrey book ( normally bit a light on details for me) , Dunstan's compendium is not a bad one for pics and development history . It was also helpful on a Chally 1 build I did coupla years back
  7. Started this build a year ago , it got stalled , mainly because I got irritated with the tracks , and mucked up the front idler so it all went sideways. Fixed the idlers a while ago but still didn't get back to it . I don't do WIPs but thinking if I post here it'll force me to complete it ! As title says ...this is AFV Clubs rather nice Cent , with the metal 105 gun , and parts on the sprues to make a MK 11 . Why a Canadian ? I love Cents , and most people wanting to do battered ones do Israeli , whereas if you want a battered Green /Black Nato 1970's one , you're looking at Canadian as they were using theirs until 1977 and they were hammered! UK forces had pretty much swapped out the Cent for the Chieftain by 1972/3 so the latter marks were little used before put into storage. Everyone else kept theirs tidy... Swedes , Danes etc. Canadian Cents were a little different from their UK cousins , using 50 cal MGs and American radios , foot holes in the skirts , "hush puppy " tracks to name a few. They were 3 colour early 70's but back to 2 colour by end of service . Some inspiration pics .. Last parade of Canadian MK11's at Lahr , Germany , 2nd June 1977 . Swapped them out for Leopard 1's in a slightly dubious arms deal . Steel Ttacks and LR tank , 50 Cal and US radios Make a nice dio !
  8. Although they were Mark II's this squadron seems to have stuck with the two bladed props for some unknown reason . The 1940 Winter was exceptionally cold , having grown up in Plymouth I can tell you , it don't snow ever.
  9. Sorry Gary ...no turnbuckles at all πŸ€₯I know .....I am competely lazy ...also why there is a small amount of rigging left to do ... Laterz PW
  10. Pics then ... Quickboost seat - worth the money even though I'm not a bit fan of buying extras .. Inside is basic Tailplane is weak suggested mod to help
  11. Ok so first build of 2023 , first completion for this forum. Gladiator HP-B N2308 247 Sdn Roborough Plymouth October 1940 . Revell re pop of ICM tooling. Sillouhette cut masks for seriels , kit decals which were ok for Revell for once . The Revell boxing includes this aircraft, but both the seriels and the paint scheme are incorrect , as they copied from a scheme worn by the Old Warden Glad a few years ago . I’ve wanted to build this aircraft for around 10 years. & I'm not without history on this subject. Two , ( count them ) attempts were made using Roden(t)s 1/48 offering ( both binned mid build as not good ) But why the obsession with this particular aircraft? Well .......247 were the last RAF squadron to use Glads on mainland UK. My father as a young lad (12) in Plymouth remembered seeing them in the air overhead in the summer of 1940 ....well... that nailed it for me as "have to do" . Oddly - as a similar aged child I used to go to (now civil) Roborough to watch the RN Chipmunks train. Isn't life a circle at times? From Aug 40 - March 41 they defended HM Dockyard Devonport based from RAF Roborough , the light civil grass airfield built just north of Plymouth in the late 20s and hastily taken over by the RAF in 1938. The runway was too short to accommodate early Spits or Hurries with fixed pitch props ( which needed a longer take off run ( 1700ft) than the variable pitch props that came later (800ft ish) . In late 1941 a much larger airfield 7 miles north was built at RAF Harrowbeer, and Roborough was left for liaison and the odd SAR aircraft. So the poor old Glads had to make do defending Plymouth with occasional help from squadrons based at Exeter's larger airfield until well into the blitz, when they were swapped out for Hurricanes (Feb 41) . I bought this wonderful book about 12 years ago . Made in conjunction with the Squadron Association , it provides a wealth of details from formation to disbandment , including all the aircraft flown etc . They became "China British" later in the war as they had "sponsorship" from Hong Kong businesses and expats.
  12. Like it , interesting scheme you went with as well . Also impressed you managed to get the wing guns and the intake scoop to behave, I found the fit on these parts were pretty sub par.
  13. The Canadian side of Mount Rushmore .
  14. Whats a turnbuckle .....lifes too short .🀣 I looked through my brass tube collection , but decided against trying to thread this through . I has some of the MIG stuff which was good , but got incredibly tangled and binned .
  15. Spot on build there , and thanks for posting it . πŸ‘ I can imagine that trying to down heinkels by searchlight during the blitz Makes me fancy giving this one a try as it seems the bargain of the year
  16. Yes it's thin and stretchy ( will go 30% maybe) . Has a habit of sticking to anything slightly sticky , apart from what you are trying to glue it to . For one off aeriels on monoplanes it's great , not so much fun full rigged biplane. I was tempted to use 0.3mm wire instead but stuck with this . Took an afternoon , evening to complete. Biggest benefit is that once it is on , if you accidentally knock it , it just twangs back
  17. Been such fun day today . In the home straight now , should finish this weekend , then I can make something else 😁
  18. From the country that brought you Ferrari , Lambourghini , Alpha Romea .....and ...............FIAT ....couldn't guess FIAT is now run by a Frenchman could you ? Such design panache .................
  19. Not mucking up the upper wing attachement ...esp after a night in the pub , I'm thinking this is job for the morning . 🀣
  20. Considering my life choices ....
  21. Looks great - you might need a Type 64 ship to put them on later. πŸ™‚
