Gosh, that's a blast from the past, that horrible pale blue Airfix plastic colour. Reminds me of the 3-colour Matchbox kits of my youth!

Looking good Kriss. Really unusual subject again.

Thanks Peter, feeling a lot happier about this now that's out of the way.

Thanks Kevin. Got the canopy on and managed to finagle the windscreen into place with some trimming and a bit of filler. Next up is getting the wings on. Looks like a little filler may be needed there on the top side but the bottom is spot on.

Good to hear some positive news, hope it keeps coming. Fried chicken sounds a damn sight better than the hospital food here.....

Don't know if/when Tamiya updated their decal supplier but the kit decals on the the F-14A I did recently were excellent and way better than any Tamiya ones I've used previously. The quality and ease of use certainly made me wonder if they were from Cartograph.

Thanks Peter. I decided to try and crack on with it just even as an exercise in improving my skills with Milliput, so here's where we're at. Needs a bit more finessing and finishing off but I'm fairly happy with how it has come out. Think I'm still going to have issues getting the windscreen and canopy to fit well but that's a battle for another day.

Contemplating chucking this on the SOD and cracking on with the Viggen. Although fit is generally good, the nose construction is just horrid. As usual by planning for it to be left open to display the radar it makes shutting it a damn nightmare. Gaps everywhere which I've partly filled with Evergreen card and then I plan to roll out the Milliput. Finish is going to be okay at best so even if I do finish it I've decided to dump the planned desert cammo and just do the 2 tone grey just to speed through it to get it done.

Thanks for the update Ernie. Hope the surgery goes well and to plan. Please pass on our best wishes to Harv and his family.

That's high summer here Harv... if we're lucky!

Thanks Peter. I still think some of the ships were more worthy winners but I'm not the judge.

Some lovely builds. That Italian paint job makes my head hurt just looking at it.

Renault RE20 Turbo - Tamiya - 1/12

Looking very sharp Rob. Nice choice of driver as well. Arnoux was always one of my favourites as he had a bit of that Gallic flair. -
Happy birthday Carl. Hope the present wasn't anything that could harm the dog. One of ours once ate all the chocolate coins our daughter had bought for Christmas presents but thankfully threw most of it back up again.

I've just started the Hobby Boss A6E in 48 scale and it's a really nice kit and fit is good so far.

Just arrived courtesy of Uncle Ernie... First impression is surprise at just how small the box is given it's a fairly big airframe for a single seater. Then you open the lid and see how beautifully it's all packed. I've only looked at a few parts in detail as I know if I take them all out I've got no chance of ever getting them all back in. 😄 It does look stunning though. Gonna have to watch and read a lot of build reviews before I dare tackle this. Looking forward to it though.

SOD Trumpter P-47 "Sigma Nu Girl"-Finished
GusMac replied to KevinM's topic in LSM 1/35 and Larger Work In Progress
Would probably help as I didn't do it on mine as it was the first NMF I'd done and wasn't sure about the best option. I think the problem was mainly the reaction with the Extreme Metals so hopefully because you've gone OD it won't be an issue. -

You'll probably be fine as you've done an OD scheme but I did a NMF earlier this year and the Montex masks ruined the build by leaving residue all over the Extreme Metals. I was doing the Black Panther scheme and there was no way of removing the glue residue without stripping everything right back and the enthusiasm didn't extend that far. I did the stars n bars before the metals so it was the fuselage and tail codes that caused the problem, The masks were only on for just over 24 hrs, so I didn't expect the problems I had. -
Great attention to detail to pick up and then fix the error with the belts. Never seen an arrangement like that before with tensioning wires.

So time for the 'Iron Tadpole' to hit the bench. Got the cockpit done so far using the Quinta set. First time I've used these and have to say I'm very impressed at how easy they to use. Not entirely convinced by the look of the seatbelts but I've had nightmares with fabric belts in 1/32 so the thought of trying them in 1/48 is a definite NO. Apologies for the quality of the photos but not used to having to deal with the sun causing strong shadows when taking photos in Scotland! 😁

When you see these in profile, you do ponder where the 'egg' plane designers got their ideas! 😆

Can also skip the day and a half of rain this time as well! Old Trafford is a great old ground but boy the weather stinks at times.

Now, surely some on here have bigger stashes than this....... 😆
