  1. Okay, I'm calling this done. I'll get some better photos when I can get some outside in natural light and I'll finally attach the canopy after that. The pitots actually went on fine as I drilled a very fine guide hole before moving to the .8 for the final holes.
  2. The seat looks brilliant, especially the lacing along the top.
  3. Looking stunning Tom. She's certainly a big beastie!
  4. It's on its feet! Hoping to get the rest of the final parts on over the weekend. The pitot tubes could be the killers - I've got the Master ones for the Gripen which are close but some adjustment is going to be needed.
  5. Jeez Ernie, there's easier ways to pull a sicky than that. Seriously, I hope everything is healing well and no infection. I would ask if it was a flat head or a Phillips but once it's embedded I think that's pretty irrelevant. 😬
  6. I had a similar issue with the Sidewinders on my Viggen build. The clear parts wide too wide to fit and too small to sand in any successful way. However, I just went path of least resistance and put the supplied covers on them! 😆
  7. Bench time is still sporadic but I've got the main airframe flat coated and all the sundry parts painted weathered and flat coated as seen below. So, the next step is final assembly which will hopefully happen over the next week or so. I'm planning to glue the gear legs in with the 5-minute epoxy for added reassurance so that'll be a night on it's own to let everything harden up nicely.
  8. Very convincing and remarkably simple. Kudos.
  9. Wow, those rock outcrops look amazing. Your paintwork is stellar. 👍
  10. Just like those big RVs that tow a little Smart car or something around as a little run-around. 😆
  11. Don't think that ever hit the UK. Not sure what the attraction of travelling in a pear would be but who knows with advertising types.
  12. Looks great. The concrete effect looks really spot on.
  13. That's a bit cheeky from the country that gave us the 'deux chevaux' 😁
  14. Nice start. How do you carve the foam, just a craft knife or a heated wire?
  15. Come to Scotland fellas - it's been closer to 59F here for the last week or two and no risk of heatstroke, only trench foot!
  16. Sensible decision I think Peter. I've only built one Tamiya Spitfire, the MkXVIe, and I know they have a stellar reputation but I was rather underwhelmed by the cowling fit and how fiddly the engineering was. I prefer my models closed up and I think I'd definitely go the Kotare route in future if they ever produce a mark I'm interested in - come on Griffon engine....
  17. Ooh, I remember building that myself back in the early 80s and making an absolutely appalling job of painting the figures. I also remember my attempt at the desert pink coming out a bit too close to 'Pink Panther' or strawberry Angel Delight than what I was aiming for.😁
  18. Thanks for the update about Cees and glad he's doing well. Always enjoyed his contributions on here.
  19. Not quite as bad as the Alfas but none of the 70s/80s Italian cars liked our UK climate much. A friend of mine inherited his mum's Alfasud as his first car and the underbody was so shot you could just about see the road between your feet!
  20. Pity about the fountain but hopefully the replacement goes more smoothly.
  21. That's half doing the Ju-52 and the other half doing the SM79 Sparviero......
  22. Nice start.
  23. Seems a bit OTT for a kid's balance bike. What's wrong with a few old planks?
  24. Yes, sorry just an attempt at humour. I realised it was still a work in progress and it is going to look great just like the street scene outside.
