  1. Made the first start on this yesterday by washing all the main resin parts in soapy water in case of any residual releasing agent.

The first problem becomes apparent. The leading edge of the port wing has been broken in transit. However it looks a pretty clean break through the gear bay, so I'm hoping that it should be fixable using the 5-minute epoxy. Failing that the JetMads after sales service seems decent so I may contact them if it's not resolvable.

  2. These were the two under the tree for me.

The F4 was from my wife - she knew how much I enjoyed the F14 she gave me last year, so got me this one unprompted. Think I'll save it for after the Viggen - I feel I might need a nice simple build after it!

The Mig was from the kids. I've always fancied doing a Fishbed and these Eduard kits seem to be regarded as the best out there.

    Pete - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dettol

Dettol is a general purpose antisceptic . If the MDA approve it for bathing in and dressing wounds I think we can assume it's non toxic. Sadly you septics don't get it in your market . 🤣

FYI it has a very distinctive smell , any child of the 1970's will recognise.

Dettol, Germolene and Ralgex, the smells of my childhood!

  4. Thanks fellas.

Peter, the next build is planned to be the JetMads Viggen I won in the raffle last year, kindly donated by Ernie. I probably won't start it until after Christmas though as life looks pretty busy over the next few weeks with regulatory inspections at work, etc and I want to read and watch as many build reviews as I can just to get my head around the best sequence for doing things before I blunder into it. I've never built a (predominantly) resin kit before so I want to try and minimise the risk of 'operator error' before I start. 😉

  5. Okay, calling this one done and it's in the cabinet.

Decent kit and the fit was generally good other than the nose assembly which was a 'mare if you want to close it up. Milliput and lots of sanding to the rescue.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the outcome.

Next up with some trepidation is the Viggen....

  6. Sad day yesterday as we had to say goodbye to Salty, the younger of our two Jack Russells. He was only 10 but had been struggling a bit recently and CT on Friday showed bladder cancer, so no other option unfortunately. He had a good last day - steak breakfast, a slow trundle round one of his favourite walks then a nice lie in the sunshine on the patio. I know it's for his benefit but it's still the bit of pet owning that I dread.

Here he is catching a few rays about an hour before his final trip to the vets.
