Oh yay…. Implant time

And I’m not talking about for the wife. B)

Had a small crack in my left rear molar years back, dentist did a quick fix, but in reality we just kicked the can down the road.  Couple weeks back, pain returned and got an appointment for 10/23.  This weekend pain reached a threshold I could not tolerate with OTC meds.  Got in to my dentist this morning and they sent me to an Endodontist for a root canal.  Get to his office, nope. Your cracked all the way down the root. I could try, but it won’t last.
Nope, not pissing away money to put off the inevitable.

Waiting on call from Oral Surgeons office for a Thursday tooth pull and post installed in my jaw.  Years ago my back surgeon told me I have an extremely high tolerance to pain.  If my tolerance is high, I’d hate to see how someone with normal pain levels handles this.  At least they gave me some good pain killers.

Ouch, sorry to hear that Scott, dental pain can be absolutely debilitating. Good luck with your surgery. Last week I fell while jogging and realized that ageing has nothing to do with wisdom, it is about choosing the right painkillers.  :)

Sorry to hear of your troubles, hope everything turns out OK in the end.

Scheduled for 8:30 in the morning. Yay! Let’s get this going. I’m taking Hydrocodone for the pain and doing goofy stupid things like I did 24 years ago when I was living on the stuff before my back surgery.

I was cleaning my airbrush this morning and dumped the dirty thinner right back into the bottle of clean thinner while looking at the dump cup sitting right there. Derp.  I was going to take the ‘66 for a drive, but no way now. It can wait a few days.

WooHoo!  All done.  Doc said I probably won’t need the implant since it’s the rear molar. Saves the modeling budget too!
And now the wife has me out furniture shopping with a mouth full of gauze.  I can’t make this stuff up.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hard to believe it was two weeks ago today it was pulled.   I’m still having some minor discomfort but thankfully Tylenol or Motrin keeps it ok.  Big hole in gums is slowly filling in.

Yea, that meme above?  That would seriously be my youngest daughter.

Oh, and our furniture/appliance outing mentioned?  Yea, that set us back $11,000.  Now I know why she took me out while I was numbed up.

You’re lucky.  I had the same thing, and went and spent the money on a root canal. 4 years later,… massive toothache. Out it comes, in goes the bone graft and then the implant.
The Quack talked me out of the implant the first go-round. But apparently he left just enough behind to fester over 4 years. 🤬
