Martinnfb Posted June 28, 2023 Author Posted June 28, 2023 First coat of random green exposed a lots of blemishes. The filling and sanding never ends. 6
Peterpools Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Martin She sure is one Big Gal. Looking mighty good and for me the two winners in the "Most Dislike" model category: scribing Filling and sanding Both necessary chores never the less. 3
BlrwestSiR Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 You're beating it into submission. Glad those pics helped. Carl 2
Martinnfb Posted July 6, 2023 Author Posted July 6, 2023 Thank you for the support gentlemen. So here’s the deal. Every c-47 is different. I’m trying to replicate the layout of various vents and scoops based on available pictures. Trumpeter didn't help by moulding the seventh window on the left side, just beside the cargo doors. That was a feature of DC-3. then I noticed that the de-icing booth on the leading edge has beautifully shallow riveting pattern all over. You know, the one that is so hard to fill, but so dully prominent, to be annoyingly visible even under a thick layer of primer. Anyway, I’m learning a lot, adding and correcting as I go, creating a hedgehog that is becoming difficult to touch without eliminating the details picture time. 8
CANicoll Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Martin, you are definitely making it happen! Well done and can't wait to see the lights on. 4
Bomber_County Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Looking mighty fine Martin, I wonder if anyone will ever do a new moulding of DC3 / C47…………ICM would be my choice as they have a track record in 48th twins albeit all Axis…….. 5
GazzaS Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Martin, Totally forgot about this one. Glad to see the work continuing. Reminds me that I have a fair amount of 1/48 twins to start. Too many new large scale kits coming out... 2
Peterpools Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 Martin Awesome progress on your Gooney Bird. Some mighty nice detailing and corrective work, fixing Trumpeters not so detailed oriented eye. 1
