Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 26, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted January 26, 2014 Hi Bertl, Thnx for those! I should have looked at these pics better before venturing in the Taurus engine. Pure headache material. 1. I glued the cilinders on. Only to discover the engine would not fit the cowling of the WnW kit. 2. I debonded all the cilinders and shortened them 1,5 mm each. 3. Then i saw Aviattic is releasing a beautiful resin scale thickness cowling that will fit the Taurus engine. Duh! 4. After this i somehow managed to glue all the cilinder heads / caps in the wrong way round. This was a pain. 5. And by sawing off the rocker arms from the block I already managed to screw up 2 parts. This piece of kit really makes me doubt my abilities. You can see an empty strip of aspirine in the background. Here's where I'm at...
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 26, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted January 26, 2014 Found this pic of Hans Müller in his plane. Great shot of faded paint on cowling. Note the wheel chocks hanging by chains from the fuselage....
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 26, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted January 26, 2014 Later in the war the 161/16 (and others, like the 170/16 as painted by Ronnie Bar in Fokker Eindecker Compendium 2) received field applied camo. Brown and mid green. I'll stick to the profile as supplied by WnW...
Administrators James H Posted January 26, 2014 Administrators Share Posted January 26, 2014 I wish WNW had supplied the markings/scheme for the camo machines too. Never mind. Lovely work on the Taurus engine and the extreme surgery to make it fit
Administrators JeroenPeters Posted January 26, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted January 26, 2014 Thnx Jim, Here's some gloss black paint on as a base for the Alclad. I'll add the spark plugs later and wires.

RichO
Nice save with the engine! Thanks for the heads up about Aviattic's thin cowling. I have not started my build yet, I want to see a lot more of what you're doing.

Administrators JeroenPeters Posted March 8, 2014 Author Administrators Share Posted March 8, 2014 I cleaned up all the parts ( as said more than the total of parts that comprise the engine alone!) and started painting the cowling / aluminum parts. Swirls!! All this will be covered up and partly brought back with the hairspray technique.
